Any CoC games going on? I really want to get into one badly.
Why? Because of the saves?
Imagine you are a bear. Now imagine you are a bear that has improved evasion, wisdom bonus to armor class, the best saves in the game, hit harder and move faster than a fucking train, and can perform kung fu. Also, you can teleport. Full BAB classes don't gestalt well because you don't get much out of it- You don't improve your BAB, your health, or your saves, usually. Monk pairs well with anything that already has a good wisdom, or those that already have armor restrictions.
Why? Because of the saves?
Imagine a class. Now imagine that class is also Jet Li.
Okay, I think I get it. Class + ninja = awesome.
Okay, it's official, GURPS is litterally the best game system ever. It has a rules for attacking people and blocking attacks using a fucking cloak. Nuff said.
A friend and I might be playing a game of Fiasco in the future, anyone interested? For anyone not familiar with the game, it's a pnp game in which a small-time caper goes horrifically wrong. Think Fargo, Snatch, Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, In Bruges or Burn after Reading. To quote the rulebook, "If you're really lucky you might just wind up where you started".
Oh that sounds really cool, I'm interested
We started a DnD 3.5 game with a human monk, human rogue/sorcerer, human duskblade, dwarf fighter/cleric, wizard gray elf, and myself as a swashbuckler/psion. This should be interesting.
How do you guys play, length- and levelwise? I mean, do you play looong campaigns from lvl 1 and end up at lvl 20, or do you play short campaigns where you start at lvl 5 or something? Or do you reuse characters? In my group we still haven't bothered with XP, we just level up when it seems fitting. And it's only been short campaigns so far, starting at higher and higher levels.

We all started at first rank in March and have reached max level for the base book and are at our 50th session very soon. We're still talking about what we're doing with our characters after the soon-to-be end, but they're most likely gonna be NPCs if we're ever gonna continue this universe.

Really? We just think it's too slow, I mean, you're so incredibly weak at level 1, and not many GM's can last 50 (!?) sessions. Maybe we're just very new to it all.
The fact that we've made it 50 sessions was mind boggling. I think it was the first time any of us have ever gone that far in a campaign.

They are basically premade adventures (whole campaigns, really) made by people who know what they`re doing. Now I cant recommend any because I have no idea what system you`re playing on.
Dark Heresy? Make sure to take cover~
make sure to buy grenades and explosives in general in fact, don't even get guns. promethium, det-tape and a load of grenades will be all you'll need. [editline]2nd January 2013[/editline]
Quick summing up of everything there's happened so far in out Pirate Story- Everyone was press ganged on a pirate ship, two of the players are playing female characters, one of which get's assigned to scrubbing the deck under the sadistic as fuck Master Scourge, and then this happened. dafuq is this shit :v:
never give schrö guns at least not guns that look like tommyguns or he will begin massacreing children for no good reason in fact, don't even let him do decisions. he can only do bad decisions.

Isn't it kind of off putting to play something you haven't created yourself? Or is it just far easier and fluent?

Usually it`s far better and bigger and deeper than what your average amateur GM can come up with. And I dont play 3.5 much so no recommendations from me, but I doubt its hard to find good Adventure Paths on the most played RPG.
Looking through some now, but they all feature level specifications, like for level 1 PC's, or for level 3-4 PC's. Are you supposed to develop your characters over several adventures, then?

Also, I suggest you look for a conversion of Kingmaker for 3.5. It`s an Adventure Path where the PCs make their own settlement in unknown lands (which they must explore and make maps of first). It is considered one of the best APs on Pathfinder (which is like, D&D 3.75 in my opinion) and for good reason. I believe it spans through levels 1 to 17, though it does last for 5 books.

And you're the one to talk about explosives, Antary had to dig through your mangled body for all the glass and concrete last time.
Cover is hard to find in a barren desert. Especially when you're driving an ATV, as the bullet currently lodged in my shoulder can attest to. I did manage to righteous fury burstfire a chump's arm off with my shotguns though. We (me, serialkiller face voidborn psyker, superzealous flintlock feral world rambo, safari/most dangerous game hunter assassin and wishy-washy techpriest) got sent to investigate a mining town that was late on their tithe. They got overrun by a few dozen raiders who wanted to take the ore for themselves. Of course there's more to it than that, otherwise we wouldn't have been sent. There's rumors of mutation amongst the survivors of the posse that came before us, and, more unsettlingly, there's some sort of witchcraft that's randomly disabling electronics at night.

They can be alright, but saying they're better than anything a normal person can make is pure wankery
It's because by "average amateur GM" he means the coke addled mind of an already insane person who worships dice as gods, also known as me.
I dunno. I think Kingmaker is much better than anything I could come up with.
Going to play a DND like homemade game tomorow with friends. The game is set in 2020 when humanity discovered there are energy suicking vampires around us. Gonna be awesome.
This brought back some fond memories. Iconic villain for me will always be a lich (ne'er faced demi). Tomb of Horrors anyone?
Liches are fucking mint, mate.
So I only just recently found out that there's a set of variant rules for Dark Heresy that turn it into Neon Genesis Evangelion. I'm not sure if I'd play it, but the very idea that someone made me chuckle. To quote someone online
YOU MAKE THE CHILD YOU HAVE THE MENTAL ISSUES YOU DRIVE THE ROBOT YOU FIGHT THE ANGELS YOU GO CRAZY YOU TURN INTO TANG MAYBE SAVE THE WORLD IF YOU DONT FUCK IT ALL UP WHICH YOU PROBABLY WILL
This is probably old but, like I said, I only just found out about it.
So we played the vampire game and it was awesome. We basically killed: - The strongest vampire of all - Pattiarch of Russian orthodox church also a vampire - bunch of criminals - one of the coolest vampire hunters. The awesome thing was that my char was Marvin Himeier's son who doesnt value anything in life. So it led to many funny moments. After every contract we did we used to loose some money due to my char spending it on booze and whores. So here goes our first contract. I:spend 10k euro on whores Gm: throw the dice for sicknesses you get I:I use condoms! Gm:throw the dice We burst laughing, I throw the dice - 8 Gm:you get tripper I:what? Gm:you can pay 20k for a doctor I:fine A lot of time later. New contract, more money I:spend 10k on whores I throw the dice - 9 Gm:you got herpes I:I use first aid Gm:you are kidding me I:let me throw the dice Gm: go on I:15 Gm:you pour it with holy water and nothing happens I:again - 17 Gm: you do the same and also light a candle I:again - 14 Gm: guess what happened? I: okay I buy a damn doctor. Later on we are to kill a guy on a fancy party, but we need to talk to him before. We decide to find a whore to lure that gut into a bedroom, so she has to make him, a billioneer, fall in love with her instantly. Friend: I am gonna look for the whore I: Wait, let me do this. I am an expert. Gm: throw the dice I:Fucking twenty!
