Did I ever tell you about the time I accidentally blew up a hospital trying to breach a wall?
Baleful Polymorph in 3.5 is pretty incredible. We we're visiting Pelors homeplane in a campaign where the deity of death is trying to take over the world, and then suddenly the demon/undead hordes started to invade. We, a cleric, a druid and a barbarian, ended up facing three demons with spiked chains. As we fight them, our druid says: "I turn one of them into a sheep". We're all like, you can't do that. So we check up on the rules, and boy, turns out he can. Sure, there is a check or two, but the demon doesn't succeed at all, and poof, demon gone. We were all pretty impressed.
This one time a guy in my STALKER RP kicked a blast door so hard he killed everyone in the room behind it with the blast door when it flied out of the frame.
Gentlemen, this thread needs storytimes!
Did I ever tell you about the time half the party in a Shadowrun game I was in had to get new fake SINs because I didn't have one? [editline]25th January 2013[/editline] oh wait you were there
I knew starting the game with four sets of ID was a good idea.
I knew starting the game with four sets of ID was a good idea.
Shoulda started with one carrying my biometrics.
3.5 druids and clerics are OP.
Wiz/sorcs can do it too ya know
Wiz/sorcs can do it too ya know
But they cant turn into a bear and poop lightning while spitting more bears. While casting a lot of spells.
But they cant turn into a bear and poop lightning while spitting more bears. While casting a lot of spells.
The only thing they can't do here is pooping lightning and spitting out bears while being a bear, otherwise they can do everything here, and they can polymorph into much stronger things than mere bears.
Elowin, tell the ladies and gentlemen about our Mutants & Masterminds game.
Why not? The abyssal bloodline looks like it would tie in with a melee character.
Because caster classes scale with level, and by cheating yourself out of six levels for a caster class, you'll always be sub par and largely useless at both of your 'strengths'.
I should probably make a good OP for 3e thread, once the time has come.
A detective CoC game would be pretty cool. [editline]25th January 2013[/editline] Too bad its impossible to find GMs
Cthulu mythos sucks
I should probably make a good OP for 3e thread, once the time has come.
I wouldn't worry about it, there's still over 7000 posts until it gets locked, and that's a very long time in a slow thread like this.
So I managed to make the party completely shit themselves during the last session. Sadly it also means that the party is constantly pestering me for more sessions. I didn't intend for the game to go in a horror direction but I played it so well I'll probably have to switch the BBEG completely and abandon all previous plots. This was the theme of the session. I think it says enough.
There's a reason half my characters are just about insane,
ugh ugh ugh you're "that guy" who just plays wacky monkeycheese characters and justifies every action with I'M INSANE LOL
ugh ugh ugh you're "that guy" who just plays wacky monkeycheese characters and justifies every action with I'M INSANE LOL
but how else am I supposed to play chaotic neutral
So how do I RP effectively as a barbarian with 7 Int and 7 Cha? I doubt I can do anything besides kill stuff.
So how do I RP effectively as a barbarian with 7 Int and 7 Cha? I doubt I can do anything besides kill stuff.
What's your Wisdom at? Sure you're lacking in brainpower and people skills but it might be because you've yet to find yourself in a situation that couldn't be solved with an axe or clobbering someone. Consider going the way of the Noble Savage
So how do I RP effectively as a barbarian with 7 Int and 7 Cha? I doubt I can do anything besides kill stuff.
In the rare event you have a good idea no one will listen to you.
but how else am I supposed to play chaotic neutral
I prefer to think that true neutral and chaotic neutral are just normal attitudes. Just do what they feel they want/need to do with no real code or list of duties, chaotic caring less about laws and contract type stuff
ugh ugh ugh you're "that guy" who just plays wacky monkeycheese characters and justifies every action with I'M INSANE LOL
...You don't happen to go on the White Wolf forums, do you?

It's probably the toughest alignment to play convincingly so a lot of people just tend to interpret it as being TOTALLY RANDOOOM

Just because you are chaotic doesn't mean you have to be ridiculously random all the time and just because you are lawful doesn't mean you have to have a stick up your ass the whole game either, Evil doesn't have to be total douche out to murder innocents for no reason 24-7 and good doesn't ALWAYS have to do the right thing. Mixing it up is what makes it fun and develops character, what would the character do, not what would their alignment do
Gentlemen, this thread needs storytimes!
Alright. Fallout PnP, one of our players played as Batman. He ended up stranded on our school bus, which got taken away by the Brotherhood Of Steel. This happened:
3:00 AM - George Takei: Batman 3:00 AM - George Takei: Roll 1 3:00 AM - The Goddamn Batman: okay roll 3:01 AM - George Takei: 1 3:01 AM - George Takei: Luck passes 3:01 AM - The Goddamn Batman: wat 3:01 AM - Knight: I was confused as to how she got knocked out by .45 rounds 3:01 AM - George Takei: Rolling the d100 3:01 AM - George Takei: Holy 3:01 AM - The Goddamn Batman: THey threw them at here 3:01 AM - George Takei: Fucking 3:01 AM - George Takei: Shit 3:01 AM - George Takei: 4 3:01 AM - The Goddamn Batman: her 3:01 AM - George Takei: Batman has stolen the bus back 3:01 AM - Knight: Fuck yeah 3:01 AM - Red Allen: welp, I take everything I said about batman back 3:01 AM - The Goddamn Batman: It will now be called the batmobile
Later on, we had a lil' fight with four thugs armed with Thompsons. Due to Elowin's character's Jinxed trait and some insane luck rolls, they managed to roll a shitton of critical failures - exploding guns, losing ammo, the like. (the only successful attack hit our driver, Knight - and did no damage because of his armour). Finally, Batman arrived in style, running two thugs over. Then, the only remaining dude who wasn't either dying or already dead tried to throw a grenade at us
4:02 AM - George Takei: 98 4:02 AM - George Takei: ohoho 4:02 AM - Fluffy Mk.II: (yey) 4:02 AM - The Goddamn Batman: wat 4:02 AM - The Goddamn Batman: (crit fail?) 4:02 AM - Fluffy Mk.II: (HOW DO THEY KEEP ROLLING SO HIGH) 4:02 AM - Fluffy Mk.II: (Seriously) 4:02 AM - Brule: (the grenade jams) 4:02 AM - Knight: (Goes off in his hand, I assume) 4:02 AM - Red Allen: (he throws the pin) 4:02 AM - Fluffy Mk.II: (he drops it) 4:02 AM - Knight: (Or the mag falls out of it) 4:02 AM - Fluffy Mk.II: (that was a good one) 4:03 AM - George Takei: He pulls the pin of the grenade and throws it 4:03 AM - Fluffy Mk.II: ( the pin throwing one) 4:03 AM - George Takei: off* 4:03 AM - Fluffy Mk.II: (hurr) 4:03 AM - Red Allen: (well thank you) 4:03 AM - George Takei: 27 damage 4:03 AM - Fluffy Mk.II: (wait, the pin or the grenade?) 4:03 AM - George Takei: To himself
Yeah. He killed himself, and finished off his dying buddy with shrapnel. Batman returned to being useless after that, sadly. He ended up liquified by a 40mm grenade thanks to Nerts's insistence on using an M79 without sufficient Big Guns skill. Then we blew up the drug lab he was in, giving him a Viking funeral, finishing a quest we had and gaining an immobile tank in the progress. (long story) We never got to use the tank, although we did find an old bomber loaded up with Mini Nukes. Then Nerts's character fumbled a roll and we kind of accidentally nuked half of Chicago.
Which is what i personally hate the most out of any other playstyle
I've very rarely seen insanity played well. A while back I saw someone's write up of a Fey-pact Warlock that was beginning to suffer mentally from the effects of Fey magic and it was probably the best example of "insane" CN I'd seen. If a character ever knowingly admits they're insane then alarm bells immediately start ringing for me. Insane people don't think they're insane, if anything they think they're the only sane ones left.

Speaking of insanity, how many people here would like to play Call of Cthulhu? I could GM that shizzle.
