Well my dwarf went pretty good. Got to level 4 or so and found a wish granter before my party did, asked SUPER FUCKING SPECIFICALLY for infinite knowledge and got it.
About half an hour later my party is all asleep due to a spell and my dwarf drowns, while my party sleeps for the rest of eternity.
Made a Paladin to replace him.
tell him he's a faggot and you don't want to play with him anymore then move on.
Would have if I didnt live in a country which is deserted of RPG players. Were only 4 people with me.
So me and some friends are going to have a fantasy themed run and I decided I will try to make a map for us
Also wanted to try out a new idea that came to my mind - make a map out of ripped google map photos
Sharing with you the result

(It's 4000x4000 so I won't tag it)
put my house on there
SLAUGHTER THE WEAK. Or in other words, Half-Elf genocide.
That aside, I enjoy Versus type situations because of the amount of ways you can subvert it. I one time used Diplomacy so hard on some bandits that I got their wagon. I win.
inb4 that's how it's going to end up oh no. when i was writing my CoC campaign, one of my 3.5 buddies warned me to prepare for everyone to go off the rails, because there's usually that one person that drags everyone along.
But yeah, those scenarios are really interesting. Creating a world with multiple solutions to a dynamic problem sounds like an interesting campaign.

Well, you know what they say, the simplest solutions are often the best, and in the world of Dungeons and Dragons, it doesn't get much simpler than just slaughtering everyone involved.
Also whenever someone mentions Call of Cthulhu by it's abreviation, I always think of a certain other game also called CoC [not safe for work or sanity].

I wanted to mention this but didn't in case people thought I was weird.

hott
The Paladin in my current group is a male playing a female. This can only go well. We also don't have a cleric.

The only game that tries to explain how you got two hundred dicks. And you thought FATAL was going out of the line.

You know it's time to evacuate when he starts to RP as a girl.

Nothing wrong with that in itself, just depends how they're doing it.

I don't know if he can handle it. He seems rather anti-social in general and he isn't exactly someone who has been roleplaying a long time. I can do it because I have GM/DMed before and have experience doing so, but having played with my current GM before I don't know if he can do it. Some bad shit has happened to certain party members who played females.
Anyways, the campaign I am currently playing is a prequel/parallel to the campaign that I played last with this GM. So technically, my other characters exist in this game still. Shame that eventually one gets his head bit off by an Ankheg and the other gets teleported to Ravenloft. Anyways, I'm a human fighter. Nothing special at all, really.
I wanted to mention this but didn't in case people thought I was weird.
I think most people around here have seen stranger things.
Personally I couldn't care less how weird you may be, as long as you don't act creepy and don't mind an occasional joke on your behalf.

Pretty much what I'm prepared for :v:. At least in CoC you get punished if you start shooting everybody, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed that my group isn't that violent.
By the way, what published adventures do you guys recommend for beginning players? Keep on the Shadowfell looked like a good adventure, but I might actually save that one for if we ever switch DMs.

It's the exact reverse in my group.
All females playing (most likely) male characters.
is arc lightning supposed to be ridiculous or is our neophyte dm just not challenging us enough
because as it stands the campaign with the arc lightning wizard is doing much more for the party than the magic missile wizard in the other campaign im doing

like, "oh, kobolds and skeletons? pfft. zap."

It's between all the crazy stuff happening in dAAS and a more recent incident involving porn and a group account on Google for me.
As for the "dude playing girl" talk, I guess it's alright if he eventually experiences catharsis, but in some situation where a more stubborn type of guy plays a female character it might come over as overly sexist. Not to say that there aren't women like that, but it tends to happen.
Soo yeah, it's settled, I'm gonna play with a friend of mine DM'ing, along with two friends of mine that also want to learn how to play it, on Sunday. I'm currently reading the handbook and I'm really liking it so far, this shit seems to be really awesome. I'm thinking about a sneaky half-elf whom dislikes humans, since his human father abandoned him etc etc, I'm still thinking about it :v:

Might have something to do with magic missile being a 1st level spell and Arc of Lightning being a 5th level spell.
honestly it looks like a really piss-weak spell when you consider it's level.
Almost everyone in my group has considered playing female, but noone knows how to pull it off.
I'm about to start a game as fighter/rogue gestalt (monk is outruled). Gonna play executioner/hitman, relying on feats and skills, which i personally prefer over spells. They're such a mess.
Anyway, apart from trying to get the backstabs as often as I can, any suggestions?

Opposite gendered characters aren't that difficult to play. They more or less play exactly the same as same gendered ones. It only becomes shitty when players start roleplaying a gender instead of roleplaying a character.
Basically the gender should only be a note on the character sheet and nothing more unless it somehow directly becomes relevant in gameplay. It mostly just factors into who you share inn rooms with unless your GM wants to be creepy.
Or if your character's ugly.

If you're allowed to take the prestige class/you're going to get enough classes to take one, consider taking a class in something cool like Ghost Faced Killer or something similar.

Always double check magic stats and shit, because some people don't understand it and other people hope you don't.

ok our books list it as a level one spell
right under magic missile as a choice
I dont expect him to cheat because hes pretty strict as a dm in his own campaign

I have never heard of Arc Lightning, what system are you using?
