Went from having a group of 8 to a group of 2 to try out D&D tonight :v:.
Oh well, at least the encounter & character creation went kind of well. Gives me more time to flesh out a campaign anyway.
Btw, for those of you that played Fallout PnP, how did you guys enjoy it?
Btw, for those of you that played Fallout PnP, how did you guys enjoy it?
It's awesome. One of the best things about it is that it's lore friendly to make crazy things happen, i.e for an anvil to drop from the sky onto someone's head because they crit failed twice on a roll.
Also the weird encounters, such as the pariah dog (which I shamelessly stole from FO2)

Freakin' amazing. Don't think I could've had a better introduction into PnP RPGs, honestly. The hit calculation formulas look pretty overcomplicated, though (never had to mess with them, though, our GM does all the rolling 'n shit)
Speaking of Fallout PnP, guys, I'm sorry, but I won't be able to make it this weekend. Family stuff.

Well, it wasn't my thing honestly, I'm seriousface when it comes to RPGs. But that's just me personally and it was fun most of the time.

Hmm, I might give it a shot after D&D. We're actually playing Fallout 3 for a class, so if my friends in lecture like FO3 they might want to try the tabletop version of it.
Originally I was gonna do D&D -> CoC -> another game, but the Fallout system just sounds awesome.

It's great fun, but honestly the system is just way too complicated, they tried to pretty much make it as close as possible to a straight port from the ruleset used in the old isometric Fallouts, and while that ruleset works just fine in a video game where all the calculations are done automatically, it's a goddamn pain in the ass when you have to do all of it by your lonesome.
So my core group has gathered a couple more people, taking us to 6 (and possibly more in the future, god help me). We decided to move to d20 Pro for combat/dungeon purposes; Play-By-Post was taking too long to get anything done with 6 people, as I figured it would.
So far I'm rather pleased with it and it serves our purposes rather well, and the group loves it. Although I really, really wish it had dynamic LoS FoW like MapTool; that's easily my biggest issue with it at the moment.

where can I find the formulas? I wanted to GM a little fallout game for friends and cant find them.
I think we will simpify the frmulas or use simple programs (I sometimes write programs in python where I can enter values and the program will calculate that stuff)
[editline]2nd February 2013[/editline]
nwm 1 second of googling helped
[editline]2nd February 2013[/editline]
Jesus, is there a clear list of formulas only? I can't find the formulas in the fallunt pnp rules behind all the words
I asked my group to write up their characters and to give them a reason to be at the town, not just in the middle of nowhere. One of them came up with this.

I'm Gus, Gustav Holst. An aspiring half-elf Bard, looking to increase his fame and fortune, just isn't getting a break.
Now, this is the story all about how my life got flipped-turned upside down.
And I'd like to take a minute, Just sit or maybe four,
I'll tell you how I became the bard of a town called Theramore
In west Goldshire born and raised
On the tradestalls was where I spent most of my days
Chillin' out maxin' relaxin' all cool
And all singing some raps outside of school
When a couple of noobs
Who were up to no good
Startin making trouble in my neighbourhood
I got in one little fight and my mom got scared
She said 'You're movin' with your auntie and uncle in Theramore'

Oh my god I looked at the Fallout PnP combat rules. How horrifying how do people even
If anyone wants to run a Fallout game, why not use a generic/universal rules system like Savage Worlds or Strands of Fate? Both of those systems are definitely worth checking out. It be so much less of a headache, as both a GM and a player, to use one of those for any game, whether it be dystopian cyberpunk, post-apocalyptic wasteland (ie Fallout), or sci-fi space opera.
Savage Worlds info
Might as well throw in wikipedia article too
FATE (Strands of FATE is a bit different from normal FATE, but they have the same idea
or GURPS
GURPS is obviously better because it has rules for attacking people with capes.

Meh. GURPS is okay I guess, and it does have the benefit of already having support for Fallout. I never really got into GURPS after playing a few games of it, just seemed too focused on detail and never really on actually playing a game.
Each of the three systems has their own quirks though, and people ought to read up on all three to get a good idea of what they can offer. I could certainly give short and sweet explanations of each, but I'm running on four hours of sleep so yeah
Fallout 1 was originally going to use GURPS but the deal fell through.

Well I am hosting a fallout game tomorow, I made my own formulas for things we need basing on fallout pnp rules.
Basically removed a lot of complicating cluttering stuff while still using the skills, specials and some derived stats.
I GM'd the game and it was awesome. Although I have some problems. Is there a formula to judge success of speech? There is no formula in the rules.
If my guy's speech is below 100 it's ok, I roll 1d100 against the skill.
But if it's 150?
Seems like I will have to write my own formula.

I'm fairly sure you still roll 1d100 against the skill brozilla.

So a 100 speech guy can walk aroiund conviencing everybody without a chance to loose?
Anyways I figured it thats to the fallout thread

What about situational modifiers? You might get a penalty of some sorts if you try to spew some utter bullshit?
How do you guys feel about Savage Worlds?
Thinking about trying it in the future.
Need people for a Call of Cthulhu campaign. Playday is friday, around 17:00 GMT +0. PM me.
I can't wait for this new group I'm DMing next, next sunday.
It's gonna be 5 chill guys drinking beer and relaaaxing.
Also basically on the campaign you can go anywhere you want, I'm not going to tell the party what to do other than give them hints/guidance. It's gonna require alot of on the spot thinking.
Also I have an event planned out where a monkey throws some shit at a party member and they have to roll to make sure they don't contract Monkey AIDS

That's not how AIDS works
Is there some class in D&D or Pathfinder that basically lets you cut shit from 30 feet away with a katana, or send shockwaves with your sword or something similarly excessive?
Also, sandbox adventuring is hard to play and run, and a lot of players don't like it much.
Is there some class in D&D or Pathfinder that basically lets you cut shit from 30 feet away with a katana, or send shockwaves with your sword or something similarly excessive?
Might want to take a look at the Tome of Battle, it has that kinda stuff.
Mind you, the classes from it can be fairly OP though.

The only thing I can think of that is remotely close (for D&D) in concept is Psychic Warriors 2nd level power Extend Reach.

Although there might be something a bit more in line with what you want buried in there. I haven't personally checked all 139 powers they have (that I have at least, they might have more that I am unaware about).
That's not how AIDS works
It does in this D&D campaign mofucker
magic shit
