It's when your equip weight is greater than 50% of your total carry weight.
I like the over-encumbered 'roll' for when you somehow manage to actually get above max equip load. Your character just flops forward and falls on his face. :v:

That's fat roll. If you go over 100% equip weight you can only walk and can't roll.
[QUOTE=DarkZero135;39628845]tomb of the giants sucks so much dick like there is not a single good thing about it, from the dogs to having to switch between shield and lantern 24/7 it sucks ass[/QUOTE]
It has great atmosphere though.

try a ten-foot pole
alternatively: try poise damage

Over 100%(Or under the effects of Iron Flesh) if you try to roll, backstep, or run, you'll do a sort of "heave" in the direction, but it doesn't have any i-frames and you move all of 10 cm.

It's rather entertaining to hit people with TWoP and backstab them when they try to roll instinctively and get rooted in place by the headbutt.
Just how deadly are black phantoms? I've been gravelording the parish for a while now and the you are being invaded fog wall to the black smith keeps appearing and disapearing, but not a single victim has invaded.
people consider ornstein first being easier but for me killing smough's empowered version is a nightmare because of his instakill butt slam
you can dodge literally every single one of ornstein's attacks but that fucking butt slam infuriates me everytime
But Super Orns does the buttslam too. Super Smough is easier because he has the exact same move set, just with lightning aded. Super Orns is hard because he has Smough's attacks and he gets that grab.

pikachu has a buttslam too
but yea super orns is easier imo
i know that empowered ornstein also has the butt slam but he rarely uses it
meanwhile smough is like OH NO HE IS ABOUT TO HIT ME BETTER SMASH HIM WITH THE ENERGY OF 100 NUCLEAR REACTORS
I've noticed we hardly talk about lore in this thread, is it that no one is interested or..?

I'm totally interested in the lore but I discuss that in other places
Where? Because I really enjoy the lore and attempting to unravel some of the "dark souls mysteries".

Despite how much I hate most of reddit, /r/darksouls sometimes has some great discussions
Theres also lore videos and 4chan
Anyone have the links to the older threads?

i really have a dillema which ending is the "good" one, age of dark doesnt have to mean its age of evil
dark may mean just lack of light, and since the sun died in lordran there is no light at all, and fire just keeps the illusion of it

there is no light without dark
darkness is always there, and thats not a bad thing
the dark age is the age of man, not the age of badness or some shit
I think it just implies all the giants and gods die out and it's only man.
edit:
Not really a "bad" ending unless you're a giant/god.
Linking the fire, I'd think, would be the bad ending, since it'd keep all the hollows alive. Eventually they'd leave Lordran and fuck shit up.

The big "secret" so to speak, in my experience at least, is to always be at medium range, juust outside swinging range, he won't do the charge attack, and if he starts a butt slam, you can safely do 2 rolls backward (or simply walk backward with shield raised), just make sure you're near the center, or simply not close to a wall / pillar you might walk back into.

Except hollows existed before Gwyn linked the flame, hollows existed when the Lord Souls were found. They come from the darkness.
Of course I am also the type who would argue that hollows aren't nearly as insane as some characters say.
some motherfucker found two vagrants at once

And he has that jump-backwards-sweep attack. I [I]always[/I] dodge that too late.

that armor combination looks sweet as hell. It's so rare to see the Channeler's Gear used tastefully.

did they? i was pretty sure hollows were a byproduct of the curse caused by the flame's fading
kinda thought before the fire, people (humans, giants, lords, whatever) were pretty much normal and died like your average dude
also as long as we're talking about lore, i have a theory, tangential to the idea that humanity sprites are shards of the dark soul. some DLC and endgame spoilers, i know some posters here are still on their first NG
[quote=who else, chump]the theory is that Manus was the pygmy, a normal guy who found the dark soul. he got corrupted by its power and became obsessed with it, and one day accidentally shattered it into millions of fragments of humanity. the exposure turned him into the mentally unhinged monster we know and love, and spread the abyss outward from the spot, corrupting oolacile.
dusk of oolacile, being a sorceress of light, was going to be the subject of Manus's experiments to save himself, or cleanse the abyss, or both. why does he pull you into the past? to kill you? what's the point, and why wouldn't he just drag you all the way to his lair? his insanity is a weak explanation for chucking you into a cave. so, his portal was an open invitation to heroes, or anybody really, who could help fight the spread of the abyss and contain the outbreak while he worked on fixing his gigantic fuckup[SUP]1[/SUP].
so he drops you off nearby. you're meant to exterminate any abyssal creatures: exhibit A, Knight Artorias, corrupted past salvation. first you defeat the guardian and gain access to the wood where he is. but, Elizabeth is there to interject before you go. she gives you the only exposition and perspective of this place you'll ever get, so you're convinced that Manus is an insane monster (an accurate claim) who captured dusk (true) for some malicious intent (still true, but not the full depth of his plan). you set off to slay the evil, but that's not what Manus wanted you to do. he's fine with you destroying the infected denizens and magii, but what the fuck? you just came into his hideout with a sword? he's the only one who might know how to reverse the effects of the abyss, and you're there to kill him, so he flips out and defends himself and his work.
you kill Manus, the remorseful and ashamed father of the abyss, and there goes any hope of saving oolacile. or maybe not, perhaps dusk can help in some way? well, no, because she got trapped in a crystal golem (a popular fate for young women) and is out of the game for another few hundred[SUP]2[/SUP] years.
whackity shmackity doo, back to the present, everyone remembers Artorias as the heroic knight who saved dusk and was slain in his duties. it would seem only elizabeth would ever know about Manus, but just like you, didn't know enough to understand that killing Manus meant the abyss was destined to spread, destroying New Londo, attracting the attention of Darkstalker Kaathe[SUP]3[/SUP], and spawning the Four Kings and Darkwraiths. which, fortunately, also means giving the chosen undead the chance to join kaathe and bring in the age of man. it's a very conflicted ordeal of white and grey morality; nobody can win in Artorias of the Abyss.
[SUB][SUP]1[/SUP]an alternative, somewhat supplemental idea is in the pendants. the broken pendant could be the silver pendant Artorias lost in oolacile, however many years later. Manus would find either one very useful to help reverse the darkness (he may have defeated and corrupted Artorias to take his pendant, but lost it). he sees you have the one from the future, and pulls you in for a chance to take it back. this also circles us back around to your unexplained arrival in the garden, however.[/SUB]
[SUB][SUP]2[/SUP]I can't seem to find just how many years back in the past you go, i think i remember it being somewhere in the hundreds, but it doesn't really matter much.[/SUB]
[SUB][SUP]3[/SUP]pure conjecture of mine, we have no idea why or why not the serpents would choose to come to lordran. just part of the theory that could fit.[/SUB][/quote]
"I ain't reading all that": [sp]Manus unleashed the abyss from the dark soul, he needed to use dusk to fix it. he grabs you because a) you're a hero who can help clean up the place, or b) you've got his broken pendant, which used to be the dark-magic-repelling silver pendant he stole from Artorias. he tries to kill you because a) you're there to kill him, the only one who might be able to fix it all, or b) you've got his pendant and he needs it to repel the abyss.[/sp]
