It's VERY cheesy, but it definitely has some cool elements to it. The idea that CELL took over the world using the lure of free energy is solid, and the constant struggle between "What is human?" is played pretty well.
I don't think it's that solid. I'm pretty sure most governments would step in and stop them at that point.
The really beefy one would've been fun: just walk in a straight line directly to your destination, walls can go fuck themselves.
Use heavy armor and that one spec that makes bullets hurt half. Insta-wall.
Would be cool if you actually fought people using the different suit types though.
That's the one part I absolutely hated in Crysis 1, was fighting other nanosuits. I'MTHEFUCKINGSUPERSOLDIERNOTYOUTHANKYOU
I thought it added a nice little bit of extra variety to the gameplay. I liked stalking them while I was being stalked as well, though most of the time it was very obvious so they weren't really a problem. That whole thing about the Crysis 1 Nanosuit being a recon suit would explain the NS 2.0 having a fast sprint while the other one was so fast you could launch yourself into the air up a ramp. It still doesn't explain why in Crysis 3 you have to upgrade your suit to be able to punch and throw things as powerfully as you could in Crysis 1, or why some objects still can't be thrown as far. EDIT: Come to think of it, it felt more like the korean suits in Crysis 1 really were "cheap knockoffs" as nomad claimed because of how many of them still can't kill you.
That's the one part I absolutely hated in Crysis 1, was fighting other nanosuits. I'MTHEFUCKINGSUPERSOLDIERNOTYOUTHANKYOU
they were piss easy to kill
at the end of Relic when you get ambushed by the Korean nanosuit guys, all you have to do is stand there in cloak mode and they'll all walk directly to where you were
cloak, sneak into position, uncloak, stun dart, Strength fist up the arse, recloak it's fun especially when they're cloaking and sneaking around too, you see the ripples in the air and instantly go HOOOOOOO
and their shadows on the ground lol
yeh that's kind of a weird oversight on the developer's part, unless there's some sort of in-universe explanation for that
Nanosuit 2.2? What?
Mentioned in passing in Legion "At this point a second intruder became visible and I could see he was wearing a CryNet Systems Nanosuit either 2.0 or 2.2, it's hard to tell without checking the neuropticals." Dammit man, I had almost forgotten how fucking scary N2 is. "Immunises against fear and fatigue" "[SANTA/SECOND] can also assume the Nanosuit's purely autonomic and regulatory functions" "[SANTA/SECOND]'s [...] ability to not only monitor the physical and emotional states [...] optimise those states for mission success." Using the wearer's body as raw materiel for repairing itself Also heh, "An ancient mini fridge squats in one corner; it doesn't even have an online connection but someone called Angie has scribbled 'Nate, when are you going to get your shit out of my place?! I'm back for good on the 28th' on the dry-erase board stuck on the door."
I bought Crysis 3... 14,551.8 MB? Jesus. Is there high res textures an DX11 features right out the box here?
I bought Crysis 3... 14,551.8 MB? Jesus. Is there high res textures an DX11 features right out the box here?
of course?
yeh that's kind of a weird oversight on the developer's part, unless there's some sort of in-universe explanation for that
I don't think it's an oversight, Crysis 1, 2 and 3, all have it where you can see your shadow while cloaked. I always figured it was for MP balancing.
of course?
Why the '?' Crysis 2 didn't have either at launch. That was why I was asking.
well considering the game's size, the fact that it's DX11 only, and all the talk about how it's raping everyone's computers you'd think it would be obvious
they were piss easy to kill
I remember on Delta Kyong was so tough because he had so much armor until I realized you could just throw a barrel at him and kill him in one hit
I haven't read the novel but I did get this from a guy who has, and I think it makes sense. [sp]"And this is where I must re-intervene (ignore if you've already read some of my theories; more of the same here): Alcatraz and Prophet HAVE NOT merged personalities. Prophet knew the nanosuits were symbiotic. He didn't know they were evolving, especially considering he stole (or at least received, and went rogue) the updated, upgraded nanosuit 2.0. Besides his sudden knowledge (which I believe was the first sign of the suits evolving) of Ceph technology/weaponry, this is about all Prophet knew. The ONLY reason Prophet gave Alcatraz the suit was because he himself was dying due to the Manhattan virus, and due to the undersuit he was wearing (which you find his body in during the first level of C2.) the suit wasn't attaching itself to him (think venom attaching itself to spiderman) and growing into his wounds and effectively "healing" him. This point is proved by the fact that Prophet could remove his nanosuit (twice. Once when he receives/steals the nanosuit 2 as well as when he removes it to give it to Alcatraz) while the suit rejected removal when Hargreave EMPS and captures him to get the suit for himself because it actually grew into his wounds. Though I admit I can see how you guys came up with that theory. I mean it is logical. As I've said almost a thousand times now, Prophet exists purely in Alcatraz' mind. Prophet IS NOT the nanosuit 2. Prophet =/= Nanosuit. And for those of you who think the voice ("cloak engaged", "nanovision enabled", etc) is Prophet/nanosuit talking. I've got two theories here. 1) Its there for gameplay purposes. 2) It IS Prophet, but it's Alcatraz hearing it in his thoughts/mind. 2 proves the whole "Prophet exists in Alcatraz' mind" thing. Now, if Alcatraz and Prophet merged personalities they/it wouldn't call itself Prophet. (I think Kami-Piccolo DBZ for this). Though with the info involving Prophet trying to figure out what he is now ("Everything you need to know about Crysis 3" thread) I must admit this MIGHT be true to a certain point. And just because I don't feel like typing even more, I'll end with this: Prophet hasn't taken over either. If you need some proof, or want to know how he hasn't just ask."[/sp] Plus there is a built in voice synthesizer, and after the beginning of Crysis 2, Alcatraz lost his vocal cords, so he uses the suit which still has Prophets voice to talk.
[sp]"It is a jealous skin, Roger, and it's already been dumped once. Prophet had to literally rip it from his flesh and blow his own brains out to be free of the fucking thing. Maybe the suit doesn't want to go through that again. Maybe it's whittling me down so I won't be able to leave... Just a machine, eh? Just a machine. Tell me, Roger, have you ever seen a machine that can do what this baby does? Do you know how it works? Because I can guarantee you that even Jacob Hargreave has only the vaguest goddamn clue, and he stole the damn thing. Angry? Not really, now that you mention it. I'm alive, after all-or at least, I'm not as dead as I would have been otherwise. On balance, it was a good trade. But it's a stupid question, Roger, a meaningless question. You should know that by now. Editing out anger is dead simple for something that can turn hearts into minds." And you're right, it wasn't Prophet. It was an imprint of him that the suit created during the time it was on him, which it used to give moral ass kicking to Alcatraz ("Get up soldier!") whenever he was feeling more than normally down, because it was Alcatraz's Guardian Angel reminding him that he was a soldier and had a job to do. And then they assimilated. I don't really know why it chose to call itself Prophet instead of Alcatraz, possibly because the Suit had more dominant imprint of the late commander stored instead of the fresher one that Alcatraz provided during the NYC incursion. I don't remember if there was a point of some sort that I was trying to make here. But whatever the Thing is at the end of C2 and in C3, it's not Alcatraz or Prophet or the Suit. It's something new. "Laurence Barnes, I think. Prophet. Alcatraz, then. Whatever. It doesn't matter. [...] Name, Rank, Serial Number. Doesn't mean shit. That's not who I am anymore. [...] So why do you keep looking for answers in my file, Roger? I'm not that person anymore. I'm something new."[/sp]
cloak has a shadow because it's not invisible, the light is just bending around you
they were piss easy to kill
Not when everyone stays invisible for like hours. [editline]24th February 2013[/editline]
cloak has a shadow because it's not invisible, the light is just bending around you
The light should still hit the ground, albeit not as clearly.
Overly attached nanosuit? How horrifying.
It really likes his ass.
Not when everyone stays invisible for like hours.
take your secondary and fire un suppressed into the air, wait for them to come investigate. if they're cloaked then sit in cloak yourself and dont move, you'll soon spot them brushing through the environment, hell the suit even tracks potential movement without the need to tag. refer to my original statement of them being piss easy to kill.

Hmm, I'm getting some graphical errors on NPC models

Turning my graphics to high from very high fixed it.
very high is dumb lose half your framerate for nothing
i watched the bro team playthrough of this it looks great, but is it seriously like five hours long?
i watched the bro team playthrough of this it looks great, but is it seriously like five hours long?
About 5 1/2 on my first playthrough. I've heard it's probably closer to 7 if you play on the hardest difficulty though.
that's really short, even for an FPS.
