my mastery's already obnoxiously high, I think I'm at like 9k. honestly my stats are geared more for DW frost, but i can't find good enough weapons for it. I don't want to reforge all my gear if I can help it. Mastery's not SUPER useful for 2h frost, Obliterate doesn't benefit from it at all and that's my highest source. Howling blast does, though. but i'd rather have crit. Ideally if I can just buy the vendor set in Vale I think I can get a full ~410 set. That would probably be enough... How hard IS blood, anyway? Unholy seems like the most obnoxious rotation so far, is Blood easier? I've meant to try it but I don't like carrying two sets of gear.
Blood is the easiest tank spec IMO and it's ultra easy. Its just spam death strike and use out break and blood boil to spread diseases. If you are on a pack that is 3 mobs or less use heart strike as its a little bit stronger, but it only hits up to 3 mobs.
looking at the noxxic info now. hot damn, it does look easy. maybe now's the time to dual spec...although I don't have the gear for it. I doubt I could tank the latter MoP dungeons in vendor gear anyway. oh well. one thing at a time.
I was thinking of trying this out, I got my hopes up when I heard of the Monk-class, especially the Brewmaster spec. Made me wonder; How good tanks are Brewmasters anyways? I love the aesthetic of the spec. (Being blackout-drunk and still beating shit up with bare hands)
Do it, trust me it's a good idea. You can solo almost every old dungeon/raid as blood. I used to be able to solo the stone core hc at the end of cata.
they're fun as shit to play, but they're a little...unusual. healers either love or hate them, i think it depends on the healer. (druids fucking love them, just drop hots and go about your day) basically because of shuffle they're constantly receiving damage, but it's never a TON of damage. Usually. Plus they have a massive aggro gain ability that can spam and pick up a ton of mobs, but it doesn't do damage. they don't rely on armor much, which is weird. they're mostly dodge/parry tanks, which means if they get rooted or stunned they're squishy as shit. not the BEST tanks, but useful for certain situations.

Timing strikes behind heavy damage spikes is a pretty large part of being a good blood DK.
http://us.battle.net/wow/en/character/illidan/Viscerax/simple I've never even TRIED blood, and all my gear is dps. I'm super squishy. I could solo BRCaverns if I could do it on normal but it forces Heroic.
As for something as simple as this, yeah, pretty much just spread diseases, mash your face on Death Strike, heart strike some, blood boil to success on AoE packs. You don't have to queue for BRC you know - if you want to take the time to do so, you could just head over to the mountain directly. It's in Blackrock Mountain (hurr). You can enter either via Searing Gorge or Burning steppes - it's pretty difficult to miss the entrance once you're in viewing distance. The entrance to the dungeon itself is right around here. And probably the glyphs. learning how to play it by soloing a dungeon is probably like the best practice i can get, actually.

I only need to get to the second boss anyway, I'm sure it'll be fine. I don't really plan on tanking raids anyway. The only thing I like to do in raids is heal or MAYBE dps. DPS is rarely actually responsible for wipes (unless they stand in the wrong place but then it's their own fault) and healing just feels awesome, especially timing aoe damage correctly and getting everyone from 20% to 100% half a second after the attack hits. tanks are just stressful.

It's better to go for one with mastery/haste on it though and reforge the haste to dodge/parry.

I love the aesthetic of the spec. (Being blackout-drunk and still beating shit up with bare hands)
Brewmasters are pretty goddamn fantastic IMO. With enough gear (at 90) you can do some pretty hilarious Keg Smash damage with a big AoE pack (THANK YOU BASED WINDLORD), and their natural dodge + shuffle allows them to be fairly fantastic physical damage tanks. They have a somewhat higher skillcap than other tanks, I suppose, and seem more complicated on face value, but they aren't that hard once you get used to them. Learn when to Guard, keep shuffle up as much as you can, learn when to Purify (generally yellow or red is a good idea but those aren't always honest - addons can track this for you) and you'll be golden. My main issue with Brewmasters is pretty much just starting the fight. They have fairly low health and low armor for a leather tank (which means less passive mitigation), so for the first few seconds until you get Shuffle up your healers are gonna hate you (this is in raids, BTW). I've seen undergeared Brewmasters eat pavement in the couple of seconds right after the pull, which is why we generally offtank with ours. If you have a priest or maybe hpala, basically anybody who can bubble, then even undergeared brewmasters should be fine.
i've seen a couple brewmasters get fucking demolished, especially in the brewery. the room the first boss spawns in is full of adds, and tanks have a habit of pulling the entire goddamn room at once. which is fine, if you can survive fifty attacks per second. most can't. i agree, they work better as offtanks. especially if you can time your hits right so they facetank the heavy hits. easier to heal them that way. ...god, i need to get my shaman to 90.
one of the love is in the air dailies seems bugged for me, the Crushing The Crown one. i go and kill the guys and they aren't counted as kills, nor is throwing the bomb at the cart anyone know whats up?
Are you at the right place? Were they tagged? Abandon and retake?
yes no and yeah i've tried that
works for me, though
To be honest dk tanks are stupid op. our off tank was away on Wednesday so I tanked 6 msv heroic and 4 hof heroic in dps/tank gear.
To be honest dk tanks are stupid op. our off tank was away on Wednesday so I tanked 6 msv heroic and 4 hof heroic in dps/tank gear.
To be fair though DPS DKs use haste and mastery pretty liberally, neither of which are particularly bad for blood DK tanks. That's like saying Brewmasters are OP because they can basically just use their Windwalker gear and tank really effectively. All 3 2h (or dw in the case of some brewmasters i guess) tanks can use their DPS gear with minor reforges quite well.
Blood DKs have like an obnoxiously simple rotation. It's like four buttons. [editline]12th February 2013[/editline] [img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/Cc81TQI.jpg[/img_thumb] pic related it's me and my bitch +50% xp boost. heirlooms are fun. I'll be raiding before you know it. fuck i love shamans

I'm starting to get the feeling you're expecting payment. If that's the case, just stop beating around the bush.
Are there any useful tanking mods, such as one that would tell me my threat and when I lose agro?
i can't remember the name of it, but i know it exists just search Curse for tank mods, it should be the most downloaded [editline]13th February 2013[/editline] i think it's called Omen
Doesnt Omen just monitor threat?
That's exactly what he asked for.
I'm starting to get the feeling you're expecting payment. If that's the case, just stop beating around the bush.
You are correct. Still leaning towards tf2 items. Though since i won't get it. I might raffle it off to somone in here.
You are correct. Still leaning towards tf2 items. Though since i won't get it.
Are there any useful tanking mods, such as one that would tell me my threat and when I lose agro?
I've found getting Tidy Plates and then Threat Panels plug-in for that to be pretty effective at tracking groups of mobs while tanking. Even if you don't like Threat Panels you should get Tidy Plates, imo it's much better than the normal ones.
i'm so goddamn close to 90 but oh my god the dread wastes are awful
