If you use heirlooms you start out leveling the quests and doing dungeons and shit fucks it up.
Just started a goblin shaman and the first few quests in the starter area in the first island is more like some GTA thing since you drive a car around, serve as a waiter, do shit for your girlfriend and some Sassy goblin.
It's a real twist from other quests in other starting area where mostly all you do is kill.

no jimbo does way better ones, also the technique i used to use does not work on beta because /run and /console and /script are disabled so i have to manually reposition to take screenshot. :(

Are Shamans viable currently and, going forward, into MoP? I'm thinking about rolling one and I'd like to know what to expect in terms of end game. I'm really into DPS, so how are they for that as well?

From what Ive played of a shaman on there, yes
The HST totem I don't like, but managing totems is atleast a little interesting, as they actually do stuff now (no more buffs on a stick!)
Assuming you can keep your mana up, you should have no problem as a shammy
Edit: Ive played a little of elemental, and its not much different apart from the t12 4pc (instant lava burst) is now baseline, and, all shaman can bring some utility and a good cooldown (stormlash, capacitor, windwalk)
