Addons are hardly necessary to be a good player, especially in the heroic dungeons/LFR's you probably do.
I'm going to assume cirno is just talking about stupid shit like Spartan UI, terrible unit frame mods, addons that tell you what button to press next and not addons that are actually somewhat helpful such as DBM, Auctioneer, Omen, Atlasloot and so on.

You can be a good player without them (in some situations, like the rdpsing in hc dungs and lfr you probably do), but you're pointlessly restraining yourself, which is stupid in a game where you rely on other players. I don't care about some clicking noob that thinks he's the shit because he has 0 addons and neither do most people.
Not to mention the roles, classes, and pvp environments where addons are basically necessary to be effective.

You're joking, right? You DO NOT need addons to be effective in pvp, in fact most of the top players play with no addons... Not using addons isn't restraining you, if you need addons to play better, it means you fucking suck.

Maybe for faceroll classes with 3 buttons...otherwise no. Stop being a dumb elitist. Let's see you play hunter or lock, or any class that must manage a lot of abilities to be viable, well without clicking or using binds.
I don't feel like clicking pet abilities to use them, i'll bind them or use clique. I don't feel like actually clicking on the player to target them, i'll use gladius. I don't feel like mentally keeping track of time left on caps, someone's cds, dot times etc. I'll use capping, Cooldowns, and dot timer.
You're not skilled by not using them, just a childish wow equivalent of a luddite. What are you going to do against an equally skilled player using addons?

Azael(Lock), Cdew(Shaman), Hoodrych(Warrior), Zunniyaki(Priest) are all some of the highest tier players that don't use addons and aren't "playing face roll classes with 3 buttons".

You didn't mention spec but only lock out of that list is in any way complex to play. And that's four out of millions of players and dozens and dozens of 2.4k+ arena teams. Shaman, priest, and warr all have a low skill cap and relatively easy to play effectively.

Before you two started arguing, I think what everyone was saying is that it makes things easier to do with addons. What's the point in spending the extra time doing something - which could end up with you dying if you're not quick enough about it - when you can do it a lot easier instead of dying?

As a distraction; anyone got any goals remaining? I understand most people have basically been there and done that with Cata, or are even taking a break until the pre-release, but anything on your agendas?
Myself, I got my first taste of arenas last week and it's been awesome fun. Hunter and Holy Pally, I'm the healer. We've been trying to devise plans for 3s and 5s teams in MoP so we can get a really early start on the expansion, y'know once we're all 90.
Beyond that it's just the mount grind. Got my blue proto, timelost, ravenlord, all the argent mounts and I got a friend of mine her white hawkstrider the other day.
Oh. And my Orb of the Sin'dorei. Because you know, my tauren always wanted to look pretty.
I play paladin and hunter too on my alt, but we play ret pala/hunter instead and the damage output is insane.
I used to play holy but most games usually ended up being slow. It's pretty fun, you should check retri out if you're intrested in double dps.
I did have goal to push to duelist title (top 3%) in 3vs3 but my mates quit mid-game over the games current state of PvP. I will probably end up with the challenger title(top 30%) again though since we're sitting at our current rating right now from mid game and we're dropping in the leaderboard.

Sounds awesome, dude. And double DPS might work out better at a higher rating, I dunno. We're beginners essentially but the hunter's output is absolutely insane for these low ratings. We outlast every double DPS we've encountered and I've managed to personally shut down any other team's heals.
Of course, it's early days yet, but I feel like we have a lot of promise in PVP.
I quit playing this in 2008, picked it back up again last Wednesday, wow how the game has changed.
Fucking glyphs everywhere. And it seems like a lot of things are easier now too.
