I want to make my own ships ingame, it would add hours of fun.
That concept art is wicked beautiful.
I was hoping for Ricochet 2 but this works also.
Valve's doing open world, I expect this will be good.
An open world game on the source engine.
I can already tell how great this will be.

Not yet, hopefully soon.
If there's no source, how are you making any statements about the name of the game or what it's about? I mean, you can infer some stuff from the concept art, but where are you getting this information?
Valve and Space. Together as one...
I like space
Sounds cool, but I was hoping for a more than just an insider tidbit. Would've rather seen this as a huge new announcement. But I guess now that we know Valve might have to say something.
Wow, a new Valve IP! I'm really excited, I know it'll be fantastic.
Looks nice and all, but I really want to know about something else.
anything else, valve?

If this rumor is true, then color me intrigued.

What he said.
An inside source has confirmed that SOB (Valve's new IP) is an unannounced game entitled Stars of Barathrum (working title). Plays like privateer/freelancer but also with the ability to command larger cruisers and capital ships. It's a very vast and open-world game where you choose your own adventure, a lot of internal resources are being put into SOB.
Who is this inside source?
"very vast and open-world"
Looks like this is from /v/
They could be modifying the maximum world space, and perhaps pulling off an "Eternal Silence" method of doing open-world space travel.
I'm really going to be doubtful as to the legitimacy of this.
Mostly because it seems much too good to be true and there's so little proof.
