Maybe Garry unlocked it because he knows something we don't?
Or because the thread was generating large amount of pageviews and he'd rather have it open for discussion. :v:
Old or not, I hadn't seen any of this stuff yet actually.
The last space game I played was one of the x3 games, I could never figure out what to do.
Funny and sad at the same time.
OP didn't even provide a link where he takes his quotes from...
It's sadder cos Kotaku used this thread too. Not that I'm surprised.

Since when has Kotaku ever been a reliable gaming news source?

If anyone is using Kotaku and decided to check out this thread:
You are using a terrible excuse for journalism.

I imagine the only reason garry wants this thread open is to attract viewers and get money from advertising
Sort of a dick move to ask a thread that's generating a lot of discussion to be locked for essentially no reason

So you still haven't answered, where did you hear the name of the game. The images you posted have been around for months.
Leaks like this can literally come out of nowhere, it could have been a random janitor at Valve who overheard it or some visitor who saw and heard things that were supposed to be kept secret.
That being said it can all be fake, but all the concept art has been available for a while now.
That being said it can all be fake
The legitimacy of the game isn't in question. SOB was definitely a space-themed Valve project that existed at some point and even reached an early phase of coding. The concept art has been around for years (although it's somewhat speculation as to which pieces belong specifically to SOB and which are just König's personal fancies/art studies), but just like Episode Three, little hints of SOB's game code were found in the Dota 2 leak:
http://lambdageneration.com/posts/dota-2-client-leaked-including-actual-hl2-episode-three-code/
However, that was over a year ago now. The big question is why this suddenly qualifies as surprising news today since it really isn't. Nothing SOB-related has transpired in this time aside from the departure of Peter König (SOB concept art) and Gray Horsfield (space-related particle systems) from Valve. The loss of the only two guys we know to have worked on the project technically poses bad news for the game. But a few days ago this thread was created, which game journalists seem to have eaten up, yet offers little of what we didn't already know other than the supposed full title "Stars of Barathrum" and a vague outline of the game's concept, all of which is attributed to an unnamed "inside source".
Is SOB still happening? We know absolutely nothing concrete to suggest it is or isn't, and that's literally everything that can be said about it as of now.
I don't think those two people necessarily have to be in house at Valve to make stuff. Especially Gray being at Weta, bridging those connections between companies would be interesting for this project.
Valve Corporation <3 Weta Workshop
Maybe they are already done with the concept phase.
I really doubt this is legit
It's at least partially legitimate.
Case closed.

And then there goes that.
Now to speculate on HL3 again.
hl3 in space called it hype it fund it
FUCK
Don't want to sound like a party pooper, but I don't want this to be Valve's next game. As interesting as it sounds, and as much as I'd probably like it, I just really feel like there is a certain game that needs to be developed and published first.

Obligatory "Valve have multiple teams that work on whatever they want yaddyyaddyyadda etc".
So even if this were to be Valves next game, it probably wouldn't affect the development of that "certain game" too much.

Fun fact: People would be okay with a L4D3, if it came out after the next Half Life game.

It would be nicer if this was from his Valve e-mail address as opposed to a gmail one but it's probably true anyway.
