At first,I was like "Meh". Then I thought,"this'll probably be for the PC,I might shell out 20-50 bucks for this." Then I saw that it was console exclusive.
See, you're talking about a gameplay change. A smoke trail doesn't change anything.
Like Chesty said, it was a horrible analogy.
Any yet there are only 4 Space Marines in the actual game. Not even enough for a minimum squad. They're trying to keep with the "badass one-man army" aspect of them.
And yet often a single spacemarine is send to deal with problems on a planet and manages to succeed.
And yet often a single spacemarine is send to deal with problems on a planet and manages to succeed.
Thats mostly the Iron snakes that do that.
So thats mean there is no pc release ever?
If they can't do something as simple as a Bolter right, I'm sure they're gonna mess up on plenty other stuff too. Relic has NEVER done a Bolter right, in any of the games or expansions. Hell the muzzle flashes shouldn't even be as big as they are. More the fact that Botlers are misrepresented as generic machine guns/assault rifles.
Oh my God. One of your reasons for why the game will be bad is that the muzzle flashes aren't the right size. Good god, just look at yourself man! It's a fictional machine gun rocket launcher, it's not that important!
Rayven is right, how hard would it be? They wouldn't lose anything by making the bolters a bit different from the standard, boring pewpew machinegun. And no WH40k game has ever done it right (and I've played all of them).
I believe Tau: Fire Warrior portrayed them reasonably accurately? If not in scale of damage, then at least in firing style. They were very weighty as I recall, with an almighty roar when firing. edit: Ooh, what looks to be a bolter proof shield on an Ork at 40 seconds. Great.
Console exclusive? Relic, how can you betray us like this?
Bitches. I just bought a PS3 yesterday though, so I'm not too tiffed, but I'd still much prefer to use a fucking mouse on this game. [editline]01:10PM[/editline]
sorry guys, but i HARDLY see this game on a pc not saying it wouldn't be cool to have it on pc though
Gears of War 1 was on the PC. TPS is awesome on the PC. Every genre is. [editline]01:13PM[/editline]
Ultrasmurfs are so overpowered, they need a nerf GAWD Seriously though, Gamesworkshop goes a bit overboard with them. They were the only legion that wasn't effect by the Heresy (why? oh right THEY WERE REALLY FAR AWAY and couldn't be arsed to help). So when they got back they were at full strength while the other legions weren't. That's. It. Why does that make them the super humans among super humans? All it should mean is they have the most second founding chapters (which, they do). /smurfrant :v:
Probably because they fit the archetype for Space Marine the best? Loyal diehard Codex-follower take-no-shit shoot first and ask questions later attitude? I still think that we should be able to choose our Legion at the beginning of the game, and each would be different. Replay value, Relic. It wouldn't be that hard to do, and would make the game a lot cooler. Blood Angels get blood rage, stuff like that. [editline]01:15PM[/editline]
Also, Ultramarines is the flagship chapter of GW that's why GW seems to go overboard.
Also this
I believe Tau: Fire Warrior portrayed them reasonably accurately? If not in scale of damage, then at least in firing style. They were very weighty as I recall, with an almighty roar when firing.
Yeah it was the closest. They were still bullets (not small rockets), but for the rest they were pretty accurate. FW was the one that got closest to being correct.
Yeah it was the closest. They were still bullets (not small rockets), but for the rest they were pretty accurate. FW was the one that got closest to being correct.
They looked pretty big though, I recall a trail of smoke left behind each shot.
Worst analogy ever. A better one would be "imagine if they made the blasters in a Star Wars game shoot bullets" or something.
Exactly. People would flip the fuck out. Riots in the streets, man. Apocalypse nigh. [editline]01:23PM[/editline]
And yet often a single spacemarine is send to deal with problems on a planet and manages to succeed.
Not often at all. Rarely if ever.
They looked pretty big though, I recall a trail of smoke left behind each shot.
Yeah I forgot to add "I think". I don't really remember exactly how they where, it was a long time ago. Well there is only one way to find out...
I love generalizations made with no base of information.
It's actually a automatic rocket launcher in FW. I retract my previous statement, one game did do it right (well, right enough anyway).
Rayven, I didn't see the marines in a Valkyrie. There was one scene on an Ork ship, and one scene in a hanger of what seemed much bigger than a Valk [editline]01:25PM[/editline]
It's actually a automatic rocket launcher in FW. It's something thats bugged me for a long time, I think emailing Relic would actually be a great idea. Or to THQ, cause that would kill two birds with one stone as they're also publishing the MMO. [editline]01:29PM[/editline] Fire Warrior bugs me with the one-man destroyer of worlds aspect of it. Fire Warriors are badass, but not that badass. [editline]01:30PM[/editline] But, that makes it fun. It's hard to fight along side an army in every battle. The squad-based on this game helps that, but 4 marines against a billion Orkz, :P [editline]01:38PM[/editline] I hope this thread turns into an awesome 40k discussion like the movie thread. That thread was fun.

Vehicles for each army etc. etc. Seriously make a 40k game based on the Battlefront games and you've got gold.
No one is really bashing the game, RayvenQ is just nitpicking, dude can't live without his bolter contrails.
this thread is #1 google search for bolter contrails :iia: Game looks fun and seems to have improved since that old footage.
Oh my god I never thought of this
Coolest part is you get to play grunty Soldiers who fight and die instead of the uber-badass who somehow slays the entire army. Which to me feels a lot more like a proper 40k game.
So the guard would get their chance to die messily?
Fixed

[editline]02:53PM[/editline]
So the guard would get their chance to shine?
No, they never shine. They're all going to die. But they'd get their chance to be cannon fodder like how they should! Yay!
