Not sure why people are saying MGS4 completely retconned everything paranormal, did they miss the scene where [sp]Psycho Mantis came back as a ghost and The Sorrow sent him back to the afterlife?[/sp]
They retconned everything paranormal from MGS2.
Like, EVERYTHING except for Fortunes powers.

But they didn't. The Sorrow was a legit ghost, there are a bunch of psychics in Portable Ops, and Fortune actually had powers. There's also Volgin, who could of been psychic in the way he generates electricity. I am not sure about Psycho Mantis though.
If anything, MGS2 proved that while it can be replicated, the paranormal still exists.

Was it ever explained how Volgin got his electrical powers?
Was it ever explained how Volgin got his electrical powers?
Nope.
[editline]20th January 2013[/editline]
None of the supernatural stuff from MGS3 was explained.
Was it ever explained how Volgin got his electrical powers?
Nope, but sooner or later somebody will have the urge to say nanomachines so I'll save them the trouble: nanomachines.
I just realized,
In MGS2, when explaining why Metal Gear Ray exists, Otacon mentions that "every rouge state and dotcom has their own metal gear" after ocelot leaked REX's data, but since then, thats NEVER been followed up on.
That would be an interesting thing to explore, and hey, it would work well with the new free-roam fox engine, having to hunt down these supposedly rouge metal gears.

maybe you just figured out mgs 5/ground zeroes plot
But isn't GZ before MGS1?
But isn't GZ before MGS1?
maybe big boss knows about them or something idk
maybe big boss knows about them or something idk
All the rouge Metal Gears were built after MGS1, thanks to Ocelot leaking the REX's data.
Big Boss is "dead" during and after MGS1.

fuck it nanomachines
I wish PW had a lethal Mosin Nagant.
Why are people hating the nanomachines?
I am rewatching the Ground Zeroes trailer and I just noticed those spec ops with burned face guy look like Peace Sentinel shock troops

Oh well Vamp was silly anyway.
I wish PW had a lethal Mosin Nagant.
The mosin nagant in PW is supposed to be the end's gun so it's tranq.

I know, I just thought it'd be cool to be able to use a lethal version too.
You know what pissed me off?
Having a powercut during the wedding scene in Mgs4.
Then my brother accidentally deleting a few games data.
Then getting to shadow moses before my HDD was corrupted.
And now starting the game just before downloading the trophy and full install update.
I am currently fighting Raven with no trophies.
I have still yet to see "This is good...isn't it?". This time, i will.
I wish I had a powercut during that wedding scene.
On the topic of MGS2;

This two part narrative this guy does is probably aimed at getting people in to the series, but also stirring up a good discussion.
But anyways, it's been a long while since I last beat MGS2, and so being reminded of this codec call really surprises me I didn't hold it dear and clear in my mind the day I saw it. I love how the AI pokes at human nature and the mind. It really tickles at my love for psychology, and to a lesser extent, sociology, interests I picked up in the last couple of years.
It all goes in part with how my mind has been opened to so much lately. I think the guy in the video does a descent job breaking it down and reflecting on it.
Thoughts?

It kinda reminds me of equilibrium to a certain extent. The masses take their issued medication to revoke all emotion, forced to abandon more "human qualities." All information that is shared, spread and reviewed and controlled by one group of people or one person. They simple do what "society" tells them to do in order to stay protected, etc.
So, anyone know when this demo is supposed to be available?

dude why do you remember anything from equilibrium
I actually turned off my PS2 when the AI told me to. Goddamnit.

Playing the Demo on the 360, very nice. Smooth Frame Rate
[editline]22nd January 2013[/editline]
I think it might be running in 720P, its very Sharpe.
When the hell is the demo being released on the PSN?
I like Raiden but I don't like the idea of playing as him, I like playing as Snake and being stealthy and not being seen instead of running round with a sword slicing people in half.

There still stealth gameplay in Rising.
