I really hope the game isn't only 5 hours long.
To be honest, if its longer, it'd be longer than most MGS games, take cutscenes out, and they're usually 4-5 hours long.

Stat screen.
Most likely its at the end of every chapter. [sp]Look at the kill counts and total number of zan datsus, thats amazingly low if it was the WHOLE game[/sp]
That's the end game screen as far as I know.
That's the end game screen as far as I know.
I HIGHLY doubt it.
I HIGHLY doubt it.
Look at the ratings at the bottom. They look like the ratings he got throughout the game chapters. It is very possible that is the end game screen, BUT, the person could've rushed the hell out of it. Just look at MGS 4, you can literally finish it in like 5 hours, but you can also play it for 17-18 hours (took me 19h on my playthrough). So it doesn't really mean much even if it is the end game screen.
you'd have thought a metal gear would finally reach the size bigger than one of the ai vehicles in peace walker in past mgs games but nope,it only took until mgr to get a metal gear that big.
What about Arsenal?

It's 5 hours long and he used 56 continues.
thats the endgame screen yo
What about Arsenal?
arsenal is an entity entirely of its own. metal gear's are bipedal tanks, not a submersible fortress
[editline]11th February 2013[/editline]
it's more of a warship similar to what outer haven was in mgs4
It could be the endgame screen but the guy could be a terrible player (look at his rankings, C for everything, he probably completely ignores the B prompt for a Zandatsu.

The gear he posted isn't quite bipedal though.
Atleast doesn't look it to me.
ok im having a huge problem here, in the PSN the MGS peace walkers is 29.99$ but the "MGS peace walkers HD edition" is only 19.99$ i would buy it but i have a feeling that theres something missing in the HD one. i just hope the online and story is in it all.
Even then, in Vanquish, apparently the timer resets if you continue but didnt reach a checkpoint/beat a level, so that might also explain the time.
It also doesnt factor in VR missions, and theres going to be DLC stories and VR missions.

Uh....What?
Nothing is missing on the HD edition.

Yeah, but also after the end of every set battle in the demo, you got a grade like that.

awesome it was just the thought that since your pretty much getting an upgrade for 10.00$ less. its just to good to be true

On the PS3 HD version you can't recorded audio for your custom Metal Gear and the product placement stuff was removed/re-skinned (No Doritos/Mountain Dew shirts anymore, just a normal t-shirt. And the Doritos chips item was changed to normal taco chips) but that's not really anything important.
But it's also got re-done textures, sounds and dual analog stick support. So it's probably the better deal.

Five hours..... That is a fucking joke.
Five hours..... That is a fucking joke.
You can seriously do that in every other Metal Gear game ever.
[editline]11th February 2013[/editline]
It doesnt include VR missions either, or cutscenes i believe.
Five hours..... That is a fucking joke.
I'm sure i'll want to go back a lot and cut the shit out of things to be honest.
Seriously, take away the exposition in the codec and the cutscenes and most Metal Gear games are 4-5 hours long.
Hell, if you speedrun it, you can beat most of them in under 2 hours. (each, of course)
[editline]11th February 2013[/editline]
Though they're only that long if you're tanking through the game or if you're really good.
That total time in the mgr thing probably counts the timing for the cutscenes too. All the other games do that.
That total time in the mgr thing probably counts the timing for the cutscenes too. All the other games do that.
Yeah but this is Platinum, not KojiPro.
I still think the final time is with cutscenes. But I don't care either way plat games are all about replayability.
Platinum games tend to not be the kind of game you play once then put down forever.
I'm expecting this game to be worth at least 2-3 playthroughs.
Then there's also the VR missions, not sure how many of those there will be.

They're having 30 as a PS3 DLC "bonus"
So i think a fuckload.
Inaba breaks it down for us.
It seems someone posted their MGR results screen and that people (mainly in the West) are shocked it says the clear time is 5.5hr.

Here's the truth: First of all, cutscenes ARE NOT INCLUDED in that counter.

Next: For every chapter you play in the game, it ONLY COUNTS YOUR FASTEST TIME. It doesn't track your total play time.

What that means is if you replay a chapter for 10 hours, but you finally clear it in a time of 10 mins. Only 10 mins will be counted.

So please don't get fixated on that end screen Clear Time being total game time because it is not.
Well that's good to hear.
the product placement stuff was removed/re-skinned (No Doritos/Mountain Dew shirts anymore, just a normal t-shirt. And the Doritos chips item was changed to normal taco chips) but that's not really anything important.
whoa I thought these things were just jokes
Did these only exist in US copies of the PSP game or something?
whoa I thought these things were just jokes

You only get the shirts by inputting codes that came on Doritos packages and such, and I think the branded items were Japan only.

What a relief.
I would have probably bought it anyways at release, but this justifies full price a little more.

9 and 50 minutes worth of cutscenes.
Actually I'm a bit confused as to what that means, so if you play for 10 hours, and only 10 minutes of that is actual gameplay, then only the gameplay counts?
9 and 50 minutes worth of cutscenes.

If you keep playing the same chapter over for 10 hours and then you play it in 10 minutes.

He's just giving an example by saying you play a chapter for over 10 hours but then out of all of those 10 hours you speed run through and are able to clear it in 10 minutes then those 10 minutes are the only thing that will be added to the final time.
