very hard is really easy :v:. True difficulty is revengeance.
Just did up to mistral on Revengeance, got S rank on all and forgot/missed 2 fights so my overall score was A rank. fuck. If I stealth kill an entire section you don't get a rank for it right?
I remember some talk about being able to go through the whole game without being detected/not killing anyone, but in the little gameplay I've seen so far that doesn't really seem like an option. Is something like that possible?
You can go through the game with no kills if you've got the wooden sword. Don't know about no alerts though.

There is some eliminate all enemies objectives. I guess at most you just use the wooden sword for no kills.
So, what is everyone's load out for Raiden? I have pretty much everything except for the HF Long Sword. The VR Missions are really frustrating for me to sit long enough and try for it. Anyway, my current load out is:
Desperado Body
Murasama
Sai
Wig B
I haven't used Fox Blade yet, but I plan to do a play through of the game using it, and then one using the Machete, just for fun. I've used the Pole arm and Pincers, but they both pale in comparison to the usefulness of the Sai. The ability to stun any enemy, and draw yourself to them is just amazing. Also, once you get Wig B, buy it. Infinite Blade mode and Jack the Ripper mode is quite fun. About to start my VHard play through, then it will be on to Revengeance.
Using a wig? Scrublord detected.
Suit
Wooden Sword
Perfecting blade wolf on v. hard was just silly. Knowing people whined about him just made it all hilarious
Also dude who said Revengeance is harder then V.Hard you're lyin like crazy. V.Hard jacks with the enemy stats so they have more hp and hit harder while leaving you untouched; Revenge boosts your own attack power to the point if you counter sam you do 50% of his life in a single hit.

Pretty much more rewarding though, you die so fast yourself but doing perfect parries destroys everything. Doing 85% damage on LQ-84i off a single parry felt nice. Managed to even skip the Gecko he calls.
Got the Raiden figure in and Jesus Christ he's huge:

shame they didn't do the sword holster-arm thing as it is in game but I guess it would be too fragile.
Jesus fucking Christ. Armstrong is going to be an absolute cunt to take out on a first play through on hard, isn't he?
Using a wig? Scrublord detected.
Yea, this is my first play through using one, and it makes things silly easy. I won't be using it on my first play through of Very Hard and Revengeance. I played the game on Normal first, then Hard on my second play through. Didn't notice much of a difference at all in difficulty. Playing through a third time I am doing Hard again to finish unlocking/upgrading everything. I have been using the wig for the first time on this play through, and it makes Hard seem like what I imagine Easy to be like.

No, he's not. Every one of his attacks can be dodged/parried except for his charge/grab, and all you have to do is jump over him when he does that. Out of all of the bosses, the only one that is mildly annoying is Monsoon.

I didn't have any trouble with Monsoon (The amount of healing items that dropped from the shit he throws at you might have given me more room for error though), Sundowner took some getting used to due to habits of jump lunging to start off a combo kept on making me lose a massive chunk of my health due to his explosive shields but he was easy once that was taken care of. And Wolf pretty much destroyed me mainly because your still getting used to the game and such when you encounter him.

Sundowner = Easiest fight in the game. Stay in his face, and when he closes the shield circle to his back and keep attacking. He will then open the shields and they will glow to attack you from behind, which you can parry. Just repeat this process until he dies. The only time he will attack is when you get behind him. If you break his shields he will go into different phases that are more difficult.
Wolf was kind of trollish, because that fight was purely about parrying. I ignored parrying because you could simply hack-n-slash your way to him with ease. When I got to him the first time I had a rude awakening.
Mistral wasn't bad, but the Gekkos got kind of annoying. She is still pretty easy, probably on the same level as Sundowner, if not a little easier.
Monsoon isn't hard, he is just slightly more difficult to parry because of the random directions he attacks from. Also, the fight is a lot faster/easier if you just dodge the stuff he throws at you instead of cutting it up (same goes for Armstrong). You can stand by waiting for him where he lands after his throws and hit him with an EM grenade, or his own Sai if it's your second play through. This stuns him and prevents him from glowing purple on you.
I'd put Sam around Monsoon's level. Overall it wasn't a hard fight, but some of his attacks are unblockable.

they went a bit generous with the codpiece, there
I mean it's Raiden we're talking about here
He's well deserving of that cod piece after the events of double vengeance.
I recall that if you get back into the torture device in Arsenal Gear, when a guard inspects he will sometimes look down on you and say: "I wish a had that."
I guess Rose had some benefits in her job then.
yeah but to be able to hide it with just his hands.
i guess it probably was cold in there...

sundowner was annoying until you figure out to slice off the explosive plates. Mistral was definitely the easiest for me, she went down like swiss cheese. Monsoon was pretty easy too. Sam was bullshit levels of annoying. Fuck those melee attacks that he starts springing out of nowhere without telegraphing them
I love finishing the whole parry trading with those katana cyborgs. Just sucks when there's more than 2 of them.
Who honestly thinks The Phantom Pain isnt a hidden MGS5 trailer.
Because that person is... inattentive.
I decided to play through MGS4 again on the hardest difficulty, and holy fuckshit how hard the final boss is.
Wow. I decided to dig up my MGS collection, and none of the discs work. I made it about 30 minutes into MGS1 before it stopped loading, and the MGS2 disc was apparently unreadable. The discs don't even look that badly damaged. This is kind of upsetting.

I'm inattentive but that there's pretty much a "yeah it's a trailer for MGS5/GZ guys"

If you're trying to run it on your PS2, it might be that having issues. I remember my old PS2 had disc reading issues after a while, as well.

Well, what else would I run it on? It's not like the PS3 is backwards compatible or anything.
can't you get a ps2 for like 30 bucks?
I plan on getting this game in the next month or so, and I was wondering if there's a notable difference between the PS3 and 360 version?
Part of me wants to keep the purity of playing all MGS and MGR games on Sony consoles but I'm more accustomed and comfortable with the 360's control scheme.

There's only a small difference between graphics. It mostly comes down to which controller would be more comfortable to use.
Fucking hell, I've beaten Revengeance on Revengeance, and now the VR Missions are the only things that are fucking me over. Particularly 18 and 19, everything else is doable.
[editline]26th February 2013[/editline]
Also I played 2 chapters with the wooden sword and it was the first time I got bored in this game. Would have rather seen other swords from Platinum games history take its place, like the PillowTalk from Bayonetta/Okami.
