What was with [sp]the flying flaming face[/sp] after the fight with The Fury?
[sp]The Fury slams himself into the roof with his jetpack, which kills him instantly. His body then keeps flying around with the jetpack attached, until it flys into the door and detonates his micro-bomb. The face is just there to make the scene more abstract and interesting.[/sp]

Also it's magic.
What, i can use that, it was before MGS4 that turned everything into nano-machines.
That's sad. It really helps in the 3D version.
Just beat MGS1 in 2:28:53. Even while skipping the cutscenes and codec messages it still adds on about 30 minutes.
Are you fucking serious? Sorry, I'm ashamed to say that I've never played Snake Eater before until I've played the 3DS version, but I crouched walked everywhere so damn much in this game. Just hearing that you can't do that in the HD collection (and I assume the original PS2 version) is like mind-blowing to me.

That seems like it would make the game incredibly fucking easy.
I imagine it was necessary for the 3DS because it's portable, and as such not built for prolonged sessions, but it just seems wrong imo.
Works fine for PW because it's divided into short sections.
Great set of games and a great HD collection for a very good price. It also includes some of the original Metal Gear games which are fun to play. Frame rate increase is definitely noticeable and the cut scenes are pretty good.
I am working my way through Metal Gear Solid 2 Sons of Liberty, not as good increase in quality though it is a good game none the less. Definitely worth purchasing if a fan of the games.
Is Metal gear: Snake eater for 3DS the full game, anything missing or is it the same game?
Is Metal gear: Snake eater for 3DS the full game, anything missing or is it the same game?
As far as I am aware, it is the same game just with the addition of 3D.

It looks worse than the ps2 version but thats about it.
It looks worse than the ps2 version but thats about it.
I've read that there is a bit of a frame rate drop but, not so much that the game is unplayable.

I've only experienced framerate issues with the 3D on which is only good for the cinematics.

Ah right, that's not too bad then. Is the gameplay good in 3D? I've heard mixed things.
Well, I got to The Sorrow. That's alot of people I killed...
Well, I got to The Sorrow. That's alot of people I killed...
For some reason I had an obscure amount of crotch shots even though most of my kills I specifically remember being lucky headshots while run and gunning. His camo is pretty damn good and not killing anyone makes it piss easy.
you know you can just drown yourself and use the revival pill to skip the sorrow entirely
useful if you're doing a speed run or something

Never knew that, may have to try this sometime.

It's not bad but it switches from 3D to 2D whenever you go into first person view which can get disorienting if you aim like that a lot.

Do you still get the camo that way?
Do you still get the camo that way?
No, i told you already bro; you have to fucking survive the entire sorrow encounter to get his camo.

I've been contemplating wither or not to do a all-kill run and the idea of The Sorrow battle keeps making me not do it, But this just might change my mind. :v:
I'm going to state my one gripe with Peace Walker:
Big Boss completely lacks the character he had with MGS3. I don't know if this is also the case with Portable Ops.
But we are talking about a guy who kept his sense of humor and uniqueness through: The Boss defecting, getting his eye shot out, nearly drowning, having to go through the cess pit we know as the Cobras, getting a million wounds, killing the boss, and almost getting killed by [sp]Ocelot[/sp] on a plane.
What the hell happened after all that that made him... Generic, to say the most?
Is Metal gear: Snake eater for 3DS the full game, anything missing or is it the same game?
Coming from someone who's already finished the 3DS version....
The same game, but with the free camera control from Subsistence included, as well as crouch-walking (apparently). The game looks pretty much just as good as the PS2 version minus lower res textures (which you'll definitely notice whenever you're looking at something up close). The 3D effect works very nicely, but it automatically shuts off whenever you're viewing in first person mode. I assume it's because it's harder to aim at something since 3D mode is basically two differently placed images, lowering inaccuracy in your shots.
You'll also notice that a few graphical features have been added like bloom and normal mapping, which overall makes the game look more modern and less outdated than the PS2 version.
There is also an added feature where you can take pictures with the 3DS camera and use those photos as new Camo designs. I have to admit, using this feature is pretty much cheating as you can easily create your own Camo designs that are twice as better than the unlockable camos. 100% camo index all day everyday.
As far as performance goes, it runs pretty smoothly, but there WILL be framerate drops whenever there is a lot of shit going on, or during cutscenes. Not enough to ruin gameplay, though.
Just completed a MGS3 no kill run with 4 continues, 12 saves, 39 alerts, zero kills, and i captured the Tsuchinoko. I was hoping to get all the Kerotans, but i missed one in the area just before "The End", and i missed 5 during the motorcycle parts, those are hard as fuck, especially when doing a no kill on a bike, needing to use the Mk22 on cycle guys and the flying platform guys, while simultaneously looking for a kerotan.

This is very early planning, but if this thread hits V2 it'll become Metal Gear Solid General with some fancy title joke. Edit: After looking at the Mass Effect thread... nevermind.

You don't ever need to shoot on the bike escape part if you have volgins camo.

But the Camo :(
Did anyone else use The Spider Camo and wonder why the fuck they never had any stamina? I did, for a whole damn hour.
