No, I think the real issue is the accent. People tend to change over time, but you typically don't drop an accent.
It's the same with Mei Ling. Those were some of the very few things that bothered me about MGS4.

Raiden's past is very important for his character, plus the reveal part was one of the only few parts where I actually felt sorry for the guy.
I'd say that you should just play and have it revealed when it's revealed.
So, I've been looking for Subsistence on the "ebay" like websites around here in portugal, and found 2 guys selling the game for PS2.
One costs 30€ and the other 80€...
I contacted the guy selling for 80 and told him thats a mad price and that even though the game is rare, nobody would buy it and that if it was only half I would consider it.
He contacted me back saying he already sold 3 other Subsistence games for the same price and that no one gives it a price if they truly are fans.
I didn't even answer him back because hes an idiot and probably either lying or a "scammer". Theres new copies of subsistence for way fucking less and the other guy was selling it for 30€ in good conditions.
Getting this in 2 weeks, what order should I play them through if the only one I've played before is MGS4?

You don't have to really play them in any specific order. You can play them by release date, as Kojima generally revealed content that way so it makes more sense to those who have played the previous games.
If you want to play in a chronological order, start with Snake Eater, then Peacewalker, then Metal Gear 1 & 2 (they come with Snake Eater), then Metal Gear Solid (1), then Sons of Liberty. It ends with Guns of the Patriots.

Wouldn't it be easier at this point to just get the HD collection? The version of MGS3 on it includes the 3D camera, and on the PS2 version MGO is offline anyway, so what would be the point?

It doesn't have the secret movies, snake vs monkey or MGO. But the theater is still in.

They fixed her accent in Twin Snakes, which is now the version to be counted as canon (many parts of MGS4 refer to the Twin Snakes version of events, Most prominent of those is the mirrored final fist-fight cinematic in both games. Also why people bitch about it not being in the HD-collection). She's middle-eastern and speaks with some 'merican clear accent i guess.

You can storm through the tanker in less than an hour so it wouldn't matter that much which you do first, what matters is that you get yourself Grip lvl 2 if that last one is on the 3rd floor of hold 3, you probably already know that, but yeah, tanker has the easiest tags to collect, missing one in the plant is a fucking whore.

The only thing I really hate about MGS3 is Ocelot meowing to summon his subordinates. It was just really awkward. Even the Fear being like a pokemon isn't as bad as that.

Just noticed in the torture scene on MGS2, I don't think it was noticable in the 6th gen consoles but Solidus has his left eye back, just noticable blinking and all behind the eye patch.
Otherwise enjoying playing this game again for the first time in years, although the writing feels incredibly worse for wear :v:
