I have to admit, Peace Walker is fast becoming my favourite MGS game soundtrack-wise:
well mgs4 bored me to tears and i hated the gameplay
and i tried mgs3 on ps3 and that also bored me to tears and the stealth was so mundane and uneventful and there's a cutscene every 5 steps and you never seem to do anything
maybe i should not get it then?
[editline]4th April 2012[/editline]
i did however LOVE the stealth in de:hr, but mgs stealth feels so limited and boring
You should still try MGS1 and MGS2.
They have very different gameplay than MGS3 and 4.
I just got MGS portable ops for psp ofcourse :p, is there anyway to walk... rather than running everywhere, as the psp's analog is too gay and just makes me run all the time and it's hard being stealthy when running.

How can you like De:hr stealth and not like mgs3's stealth? :v:
It could only be better with MGS4's controls, and I mean all of them, not just the 3D camera.

MGS3 has a lot of "WHAT THE FUCK THAT'S BULLSHIT!" moments.
Like when a guard sees you, gets alerted, but you CQC him before he has a chance to say anything, but you still go to alert phase.
They made the core sneaking gameplay a lot better in Peace Walker in my opinion, but it doesn't have the same charm as MGS3.

The only times I see that happen are those with the flying platform guys, that don't need to call in on support over the radio. OR, maybe someone heard gunfire or saw you off the screen. Only things I can think of but yeah there are parts like that.
That can also happen in SoL with a pesky guard on the roof of the helipad or the Cyphers :v:

It's like that because the 360 doesn't have pressure sensitive face or bumper buttons, only the triggers are pressure sensitive.
Yes and that's fine, the control stick to raise/lower and using the shoulder buttons to go into first person and use irons/scope is A-okay. The problem is both of these functions stop as soon as you stop firing, even if they remain pressed.
I.E i click left stick in, snake raises AK47, I press the left bumper to lock in direction/target, press x, let off a burst and then as soon as i stop he drops both the lock and the aim. This makes firefights incredibly hard to do without snake firing a short burst and then spazzing out because hes suddenly running in the opposite direction. Same with maintaining aim from first person.
Can anyone confirm that this is only a problem on xbox version?
Om mgs2, where you were busted, they'd have to Call backup. So you had time to kill pr avert The full alert somehow. If The guard only reported half or was The one who should deliver stat reports, a search party would look for you/bodies. If they didn't find anything, nothing happened and The guards were replaced.
In mgs3, everything was simplified. Spotted equals Aleert. Same In mgs4. It's ny biggest Gripe with The Series. A huge step back In a core mechanic.
Assumedly, in MGS4, nanomachines instantly transferred information to squads in the vicinity.
What troubles me about MGS4 is that some of the tech is really advanced while some of it absolutely sucks compared to pervious games.

While it was simplified, snake eater is still easily one of the best games I've ever played.
Eating the End's parrot was just the best thing ever, he goes apeshit.

YOU CAN DO THAT?! HOLY SHIT!
YOU CAN DO THAT?! HOLY SHIT!
Yeah, he freaks out and gets so butthurt he starts getting sloppy and may even just straight up rush you.
Yeah, he freaks out and gets so butthurt he starts getting sloppy and may even just straight up rush you.
Do you just tranq it off of his shoulder?
Do you just tranq it off of his shoulder?
I seem to remember when you fight the end it sometimes flies around and rests on tree branches, tranq/shoot and it lets you eat it.
Then you hear the end freaking out.
Just wait til he discovers that [sp] you can snipe the End after a cinematic and circumvent the most epic bossfight in video-game history[/sp] I haven't fought him since 2007... Cept this time, i'm gonna woop him fair'n'square.
My brother did that the first time he saw The End. I was amazed and he thought it was just how shit was supposed to go.
Also if you save and exit the game during the fight against the end, if you wait like 3 weeks or something then he dies of old age when you play again.
So I decided to get a PS2 and Gamestop only had Snake Eater (which turned out to actually be disc 1 of Subsistence but it's still the game). MGS1 is being delivered right now and I'll get Sons of Liberty/Substance sometime soon, but I was wondering how bad of a person I am for not playing the games in order of creation.
Well I've never played mgs 1 and I turned out ok.
Lucky!
Subsistence is quite rare and expensive to get ahold of on PS2 nowadays...
it's just the first disc but ok!

I did that every time after the first playthrough.
It was such a HUGE PAIN IN THE ASS the first time. Looking for him was a hassle and was confusing me to hell and back. Then locating him among all the animals on the sonar, and finding him while he shoots tranq darts at you, goddamn.
I did it fair and square again once to get the camo from him but it was a whole lot easier than the first time. I literally was chasing after him.
If I get Subsistence (fingers fucking crossed so it appears where a buddy of mine works and he can buy it) I'll go 100% on that thing again.

Shut up shut up shut up!!
Some guy was selling it for 80€ second hand on an ebay like website for Portugal only. I told him I'd buy it for 40 because 80 was a stupid as fuck price because its the price of 2 copies, but he just went "hurr collecturs dunt put price on it and buy it, alredy sold 2 oters"
Then I found another guy selling for 30€ and just said "fuck this"
I got it for about 10 bucks at Gamestop a while back. I have HD collection now though.
The Fear boss fight is probably the easiest boss fight I've played in a game.
Holy shit, The End almost killed me in real life.
I had my directional mic out when I heard him say "this is the end," so I put it away to go look for him, only to see the motherfucker sitting RIGHT BEHIND ME. Made it all the more satisfying when I blew his head off 20 minutes later

Yeah, turns out that if you are prone and in first person view for a long time he will actually appear right behind you and take you out. Scared the shit out of me the first time he did it to me.

All the boss fights felt pretty easy except for the fury maybe. The pain just takes slightly long, the fear can be killed just by poisoning him, the end is just a test of how good your eyesight is or good usage of the thermal goggles, maybe I'm not doing it right but the fury gave me the most trouble because he kept creeping up on me somehow.

Funny, the Fury was actually easy for me. He just strolls around shooting flames or looking at you, so I just...shot him...
