It's not explained as "heal super fast" it's explained as encouraging cell-regeneration and multiplication. Those are very different things. one is biologically plausible, the other is retarded. It's Sci-Fi.
Again. Grand Scheme dude. Please stop. They wanted to recreate the original circumstances in order to recreate Solid Snake and keep him in control, hence why they encouraged Raiden's doubt of his own mental stability. Controlling all of the information in the world, and thereby history is a separate plot-thread unrelated to the experiment. Please try to comprehend what you're arguing...

It's been a while since I've played MGS2, sue me. It would be best to check the MGS4 database, but http://metalgear.wikia.com/wiki/S3_Program]this page pretty much says what I say. Also, cell-regeneration and multiplication is exactly the same thing as healing super fast.
This is all beside the point, you're saying the plot isn't crazy and to back that up you're telling me that controlling all information in the world is just one element of a plot including what may or may not be supernatural powers, a secret organisation trying to recreate an event to gain control of somebody and an underwater fortress covered in AI controlled robots being held by the former president threatening to attack the power controlling America. If that's not batshit insane, then everyday life must be real mundane.
That underwater thingamajig in Black Ops seems WAY crazier, since, you know... Its CoD, and not some sci-fi game or anything of the sort. Its supposed to be at least a little bit believable, even if only for a second :v:
What plot isn't crazy anyway?
Heck, METAL GEAR REX and the models before are CRAZY ENOUGH on their own. We have nothing even close to that in real life, and in the MG series, there was a Shagohod in the late 60's.
If that isn't crazy, then why are nanomachines?
You should play through MGS1 first, it's a masterpiece. The plot is fantastic and unlike the sequels it doesn't go batshit insane at any point.
Nah
I didn't feel like having to slog through a full game so I could play the one I wanted

I don't know about you, but making a shagohod-esque system seems quite possible. I mean, it's just a rocket boosted vehicle with a missile strapped on. But remember, I said "Possible", not "Practical" or "Economical"
But Granin pulled the redundancy card out on the thing before we even saw it. SS-1C basically does the exact same thing.

Then point me to a plot that isn't crazy in your eyes. Because this really isn't. it's just very very complicated. Every snippet of supernatural...ness. Has been disproven as far back as we've got games explaining and showing us backstory. The only ones we believe to be supernatural ATM, are the only ones we don't know the exact origin of. I'll bet my hat that they aren't supernatural.
This is Sci-Fi. I mean. Hovering platforms in 1964!?

All it was for, really, was military deterrence against the west. When the tech for just sending nukes without such... things because available, it became obsolete. But none of that matters since we raped the prototype. We always rape the prototype...
Stuck at the dumbest part in MGS2, got to take pictures of RAY but I'm not getting the perfect angles so I'm stuck :(
But it's so easy!? Front left, Front right, Front and one of the logo. Snake utters "yeah" or "alright" or something close to that when it's right.
Did it, it was just fiddly

Playing as Raiden in the Big Shell now
Is this game only made up of two different levels? That ship and the Big Shell?
That's weak, how much more gameplay would be left if I just turned into Raiden? Also MGS3 looks like a lot of fun too

Snake's part is really short. The meat of the game is really just Raiden. I think you got 10 hours or something to go, depending on how fast you play.

In the 60's?
You still need the "drills" or whatever those are.
Granin just couldn't build it because hidraulics weren't evolved enough.

You'll have more fun with MGS3 than with 2 really.
Lots more.
It looks more open world
or that's the vibe I'm getting

I see your point, but after [sp]meeting the president[/sp] the entire plot goes apeshit. The latter half of MGS2 is a complicated mix of many plot devices, and if you ask me, that's crazy.
Who cares if there's "supernatural" or just highly unlikely or technically impossible parts in the plot.
It's just a videogame and it's fun.
Edit: I don't see anyone complaining on how snake can carry a million guns on his person at the same time or soak up multiple magazines before dying.

I think it sort of is. Or at least the outdoor environments give you an ilusion of that over the indoor ones in the Big Shell, and are also very different from each other, giving you different challenges and uses to your arsenal.

Same goes for Big Boss.
How come we can't carry all the stuff ready to equip but he can carry it all in his backpack and have it all fit? :v:

This was a direct reference to Akira, nothing more.

The only members of these groups who already had some of their powers before they were technologically manipulated were the Psychics. Crying and Psycho Mantis both were originally psychics. Mantis was to imitate the Sorrow and Crying was to imitate Psycho.
I will forever refuse to aknowledge Twin Snakes.
Call me whatever you want, Snake riding a missile is pure BOLLOCKS.
Weirdly enough, Kojima got his friend to direct the cutscenes and made him redo them when they were too close to the originals, which is how they ended up so batshit insane.
While I like the original more, I still enjoyed Twin Snakes for being a different kind of experience. I heard a theory on tv tropes stating that Twin Snakes is meant to be a sensationalized version of the story as revealed to the public, which I think is an interesting way of looking at it.
How does one build or see how far into building a metal gear on Peace Walker? as i'm confused to why i'm getting all the parts?

Wrong. She already had powers. They improved upon those by imposing his genes on her and force-fusing her mentality with his. It's comparable to the [sp]Ocelot/liquid[/sp] deal in MGS2, where the original personality was still largely in control.
Details, details.

But [sp]Ocelot/Liquid[/sp] thing was due to the arm? Everyone is saying that they retconned it, but it explains why [sp]Ocelot got the cyborg arm, as he already used the Liquid guise and didn't need it anymore.[/sp]

Don't you EVER call that walking piece of cutiepie a bitch again! Poor Otacon. He's the fictional character i feel most sorry for ever. Almost beats out Otto Frank in poor-factor.

The "retcon" was that the arm was mechanic all along. What Liquid tells Solidus about it taking control was all a cover-up for his personality swap. In fact, he hid it from everyone in MGS2. He finally upgraded it and claimed that he hoped to rid himself of liquid by doing so, cover-up again. In other words. The plan was already in motion then. [sp]And what do you mean "doesn't need the Liquid guise anymore"? You know he's Liquid in MGS4 right? In MGS2 and 4, he's using it to become unpredictable and untaceable to the Patriots system. His Liquid personality doesn't entirely know where the patriots physically are, so he keeps Ocelot handy because he has that info. Ocelot holds that info back until he's sure that Liquid can accomplish the destruction of the Patriot AI, yet fail to derail the world. Hence his "you're pretty good" when he dies in MGS4. Snake was again the "Fuck no" who went "yes sir" by accident... manipulation.[/sp]
The MGS database is pretty bad since it was compiled up to the release of MGS4, so a lot of it adheres to the current told reasons at that time. The MGS WIKI is unreliable because no one has any idea what they're writing over there because they don't follow the plot at all. Best source, is the games themselves.
It's a complicated plot and i have no idea how i remember so much. Maybe playing MGS1 50 times, MGS2 700 times, MGS3 60 times and MGS4 14 times does that to you. There was really a time when, if i didn't have anything to do, i'd boot up MGS2 and either do a story run or go for the speedrun. Current record is 2 hours and i'm not trying again.
I fucking hate emma so much.
WORST. ESCORT MISSION. EVER.
