I found the Emma part very easy, but my playstyle consisted of leaving her by the door and slaughtering all the guards before taking her through.
Hmmm so apparently the Metal Gear Zeke menu is supposed to be at the bottom left of the menu on the motherbase, but I don't have it unlocked, even though i've completed the game?
Anyone? I don't even know how to find what parts i've grabbed.
After you fight one of those AI weapons, you get a screen with the various parts that you scavenge from the wreckage. Get 5 parts of each specific area (like legs, head, power,...) and it creates a useable part for metal gear Zeke. You should already have the metal gear menu at the mother base, if you've recruited Huey and put him in the R&D team. [editline]12th April 2012[/editline] You've completed the game and you don't even have the button? You've put Huey in the R&D team right?

That's really weird, you should've gotten the option ages ago.
[sp]And what do you mean "doesn't need the Liquid guise anymore"? You know he's Liquid in MGS4 right?[/sp]
But you're forgetting the dialogue in the best part of MGS4, the final cutscene with Liquid. [sp]"Look, Snake. The war is over now." "But why? You could've stopped us." "Now, why would I want to do that?"[/sp] My own opinion is that [sp]he takes it off because he knows his plan is nearing completion, so he doesn't need the Liquid personality anymore. Which is why you're able to beat the shit out of him and turn him into Ocelot again so easily, since the arm isn't "making him Liquid" anymore. [/sp] Then again, I'm a massive Ocelot fan. :v:
Got it sorted, moved him out played a game, then moved him back and replayed the battle with pupa.

It's Liquid saying that. Liquid wants the Patriots down to take over and fulfill Big Boss' Legacy. Ocelot wants them gone to fulfil his own and Big Boss' CURRENT interpretation of The Boss' legacy. He wants the world restored to free informational flow. Hence Big Boss' final speech as well. All it amounts to is "we don't have a right to control people, oh and sorry for fucking up your life son." Yes. The personality came off, but in MGS4, its control was stronger than in MGS2. He rigged it to come off when what it had to accomplish was done. It failed at comming loose until you'd beaten him out of it. It's only after the fight that he's himself again. The battle Phases are him coming to his senses again. The arm was never Liquids at all. It was all a ruse. The fact that you believe it only speaks for how well it worked. It's true that the arm in MGS2 and 4 aren't the same, but that's the second part of the ruse. Both are mechanical. Even if it was Liquids arm, the personality wouldn't be in the arm and if the ruse was to ride on using the actual REAL liquid and not just his own fabricated Liquid clone personality, you'd need to use Psycho Mantis, who's dead in MGS2. so. Let's get this straight. The Liquid in Ocelot isn't the real Liquid personality. It's his own fabrication of Liquid and his memories. Even with Nanos, you can't transplant actual personalities. The Psychi Mantis in the BB Mantis is also a fabrication. partially by herself and by those who wanted it imposed on her. Using Liquid's voice in MGS2 was actually an error on the caster's part. Zimmerman was to voice both. The japanese version of MGS4 is even more fucked since their Ocelot VA died and they had to use Liquid for it all. Something Kojima was very worried about. Liquid died in MGS1 and we never saw that specific Liquid again. We never saw the individual, only an interpretation of him. Don't forget that Ocelot is a special agent on par with Big Boss. He could easily pull this off. He's an interrogator and imitator. All of those small details. He easily spots them and imitate them as well. But let's be clear. When Liquid's on, Ocelot is off and vice versa. I can keep this up forever.

Also there was dialogue between him and Solidus mentioning a French surgeon that they used. I think that after MGS2 Ocelot ditched Liquid's arm for a mechanical one that appeared to look like his own.[/sp] I know you didn't specify otherwise but it's also worth mentioning that after [sp]Screaming Mantis dies the real Psycho Mantis does briefly appear, and not just through an interpretation of his psyche. That's backed up by The Sorrow sending him back to his grave.[/sp] Also chill out, it's not as if you need to prove you're the ultimate MGS fan that has to show everyone how wrong they are by keeping up your argument until they back down. The fact is, parts of the plot aren't clearly explained and a lot of what we're doing here is just theory work based on what we know.
I've decided I'm not a huge fan of MGS2 It looks really nice and it's pretty realistic, but the level design so far has been pretty boring A grey ship to sneak around in, then a grey oil looking platform God I was hoping for at least some jungle, snow, and then urban? This is the best you can do?
then a grey oil looking platform
Orange.
Weirdly enough, Kojima got his friend to direct the cutscenes and made him redo them when they were too close to the originals, which is how they ended up so batshit insane. While I like the original more, I still enjoyed Twin Snakes for being a different kind of experience. I heard a theory on tv tropes stating that Twin Snakes is meant to be a sensationalized version of the story as revealed to the public, which I think is an interesting way of looking at it.
I know, but even though Kojima asked him to be wacky, I still don't take the game seriously. The only thing I like it for is for being a remake, giving us better controls, graphics and so on for a great game.
Orange.
you're right it's still boring [editline]13th April 2012[/editline] that and I'm finding it really fiddly to sneak up to a guard and get them in a headlock I can do it, but the neck breaking mechanic is weird, I keep pressing X to turn the guy's neck and it just turns his head and he goes HUP. Meanwhile he's all "HUP HUP HUP HUP HUP HUP URGHH" when I finally break his neck

It just seems a little bland as in the environments, that's all I also find it hard to believe that I can gun down one guard, and his buddy in the next room won't hear my gunshot [editline]13th April 2012[/editline] I'd really like to finished MGS2 soon so I can move onto 3, and I'm really looking forward to peace walker also raiden looks like your run of the mill jap lady boy I don't like his girlfriend either Call her to save "OH RAIDEN DO YOU REMEMBER THAT TIME WE WENT OUT AND GOT ICE CREAM ETC" Bitch I'm trying to defuse a fucking bomb here

Even Rose isn't completely useless.
Raiden is somewhat cool, he just reminds me of final fantasy characters at some points also the voice acting is so cheesy at times, it's like that's what they're aiming for
I've decided I'm not a huge fan of MGS2 It looks really nice and it's pretty realistic, but the level design so far has been pretty boring A grey ship to sneak around in, then a grey oil looking platform God I was hoping for at least some jungle, snow, and then urban? Well I didn't expect all of them, but a little variety would be nice yeah
Arsenal Gear is definitely awesome. It's still an interior, gray-ish enviroment, but with a way darker atmosphere and otherwise creepy stuff.
Just got the collection. Do I play them in chronological order or the release order? :v:
Well mainly MGS2 yes, but many of the same problems exist in MGS3, even though it is greatly improved. Your weapon still disappears, for whatever reason your weapons are removed between Virtuous Mission and Snake Eater, and if you're playing on a difficulty other than Very Easy (as most do), the only actual gun you get up until Snake Eater is the M16, which you can use for a grand total of about 5 minutes. Why they included a silencer for it, I'll never know.
It seems you weren't really paying attention to your surroundings then. In the virtuous mission you can get a SVD, XM16E1 and an M37. After the virtuous mission you can get even more guns, as well as the XM16E1 again. It's not so strange to miss these guns if all you do is focus on the objective because all the collectibles were to be found at bases that were off the main route.
In a firefight, go behind a corner, go into first person and imagine you're playing time crisis.
Just got the collection. Do I play them in chronological order or the release order? :v:
Doesn't really matter. Release order is often the best seeing that's how Kojima wanted information revealed but you can play in chronological order if you'd like.
A warning though, after playing MGS3 it's hard to go back to inferior MGS2.
A warning though, after playing MGS3 it's hard to go back to inferior MGS2.
I think the main problem I have really is Raiden and some of the level design. That said there's so much fucking around to be done in MGS2.
ok i bought this i really liked the part with snake but i do not like the part with raiden he sucks and its just not as fun [editline]14th April 2012[/editline] why does raiden have child bearing hips
I think the main problem I have really is Raiden and some of the level design. That said there's so much fucking around to be done in MGS2.
Like what? I just know about dog tags.
MGS2 is my least favorite MGS but I'd still give it like a 9/10. I fucking love the series.

It was never Liquid, although I imagine at the time of MGS2's creation it was supposed to be him because it was supposed to be the final game in the series.[/sp]
