It's the whole reason Emma is so afraid of water. Stupid plot device IMO I never sympathized with Otacon because his sister was more an annoying gameplay mechanic than anything.
I don't know about you, but managing to avoid drowning is one of the best game mechanics ever designed.
Hell yeah, finally bought myself the HD Collection. Will be here in like 2, maybe 3 days.
I'm pretty excited.

Escort missions. Just no.
I must say, even though REX wasn't the latest metal gear model to be developed nor the fastest, its certainly the strongest and, imo, the coolest.
It looks like a transformer made out of futuristic-looking M1 Abrahams tanks.
[sp]Love the part where you drive it in the tunnels killing all the geckos. Its hidraulics are so awesome.[/sp]
Might want to spoiler tag that because some people haven't done that yet.

Høhøhø. That's very nice...
But seriously. A "Don't fucking drown" navigational minigame is thrown into practically any game. Just because someone is actively trying to choke us, it's suddenly bad?
Might want to spoiler tag that because some people haven't done that yet.
Not even I have done it, yet I know of it. Its a minor thing but ok.
i thought the colonel was a patriot ai or something from inside the thingy in mgs2
but in msg4 hes a real person
somebody fill me in

In MGS 2 they say that he's a fictious character created by the AI from Raidens (and therefore the players) expectations. Players who were commanded and assisted by colonel in MGS1 will expect the colonel in the next game to be him.
In MGS 1 and MGS 4 he is real ofcourse.
Escort missions. Just no.
To be honest, it wasnt that bad. There are many worse Escort Missions than Emma.
Colonel has been around since the originals, MGS2 is an elaborate in-universe mindfuck and real life Kojima dickery.

As I understand it the AI in MGS2 is a recreation of Col. Roy Campbell, but Roy Campbell was/is indeed a real person, one that you can see in person during Twin Snakes, Portable Ops, and MGS4.
otacon always had it bad. kojima says he's the personification of himself to a degree in the game. maybe he's secretly a masochist
[editline]23rd April 2012[/editline]
well a romantic masochist
Or just a huge nerd
with stockholm syndrome

Lots of people were moved/made themselves disappear after Shadow Moses. I think some of it (Mei Ling and Naomi) is covered in MGS4

I can sort of sympathize with Otacon, he's had a very hard life.

[sp]Correct. In MGS2 it's GW tricking you into doing it's will, the same with Rosemary. At the end of MGS2 you see the real Rosemary, of course.[/sp]

Right.
With Rose... It's different. She's along for the ride for most of the game. Until that point [sp] in Arsenal where it cuts out after she calls for help[/sp]
The fact that she deceives him is a big part of their relationshit troubles...
i sorta expected it with the [sp]colonel[/sp] for some reason but not for [sp]rose[/sp]
some of the things he says just didn't sound like shit he'd say even before he goes all pumpkin face on you.
I can just imagine [sp]GW[/sp]'s circuits going apeshit after hearing Raiden's dialogue, therefore underestimating all of mankind :v:
Seriously, he managed to avoid drowning!

Didn't you know?
It's A DUD.
Got the HD collection, decided to start with MGS 3. It's awesome so far, although the controls are so damn confusing compared to the controls in modern TPP games (click left stick to raise the gun and press X to fire? Really??). And, well, to be honest, I suck at it. Big time.
So far managed to get through the Virtuous Mission, got my ass kicked by The Boss who then rode off into the rain on her horse, got shot in the ass and had to pull the bullet out (poor Snake), killed a lot of Pythons, and met EVA.
Whats so bad about that "dud" part?
(click left stick to raise the gun and press X to fire? Really??)
That sounds weird. Are you playing on the xbox?
Edit: Why is first person on the left stick instead of the right shoulder button?

Yes, I am. The first person IS on RB, clicking the left stick is used to raise the weapon to the shooting position, you know, to hold guys up and aim precisely in first person. Speaking of holding people up, I never seem to be able to sneak up on a guy without them noticing. Do I have to crawl or something?
