i thought that was half the fun, tbh. half of the game was a game of perspective.
I mean it doesn't come to bother too much of the time, but when it does it's really quite annoying. Like in MGS2 when the camera faces the player, but enemies are ahead of you, and first-person camera movement is all over the place, it's really messy.
I played MGS1 on Hard w/o Radar. Playing it without radar made me realize how much I depended on the radar. But shit was much more fun with out it.
I think the benefit of PW was that you could finally move and shoot effectively, but were still penalized for going in loud or having alert phases. It wasn't perfect, but a hell of a lot better than the checklist of the other games to shoot accurately: 1. go into first-person mode 2. pull out weapon 2a. aim down sights if weapon permits 3. use overly sensitive camera controls to aim at head Now it's just: 1. Aim with L 2. Shoot with R
The third person aiming with PW still feels floaty though. At least it does to me. It doesn't feel as tight as other games like Gears of War or Army of Two. Didn't matter though since I stealthed through the game.

Back when i worked at gamestation i picked up a rare copy of MGS3 i saw on the shelf ( for about 20 quid ) it was the special edition subsistence with fuck loads of extras and stuff and i happen to have it in pristine condition from many years ago, was just curious today had a search and people are buying it for like 200 quid.............
Playing MGS on Psone can't beat Revolver Ocelot, help
Try using a stun grenade.

Been watching the Secret theater in MGS3, can't stop laughing.

Augh, [sp]You know the torture scene in Peace Walker[/sp] I just can't beat it :( I really want to but I can't I just can't mash tri-angle as fast as it wants me too :(....

I just put down my PSP and jab the triangle button to hell.

That's the easiest button mash sequence in the whole series though. The only one that's remotely difficult is the mgs4 one just because it's so long.
sneaking suit and banana it's all you'll ever need
That's the easiest button mash sequence in the whole series though. I had to look up a method on how to press the button fast enough to get through the PW torture scenes.
its hard for a different reason i've done all of the torture sequences in the series and found pw's the hardest 4's was just "hard" because you had to keep mashing for a longer period of time, while pw's was hard because you didn't tap as long, but you had to do it twice as fast
It took me atleast 6 or 7 tries to actually get somewhere in the PW torture scenes. [editline]9th September 2012[/editline]
I had no problem with the laughing sticks on the 360.
I have both a 360 and PS3 controller with me, and i can confirm that you can press the 360 controllers face buttons faster, probably has to do with the shape and how easy it is to press it in.
I spent an hour trying to beat PW's torture scene, my thumb just eventually hurt so I stopped trying. MGS4's was a breeze for me.. really easy.
I just booted up the game again and did the torture scene again. It feels a lot slower than the mgs4 scene, maybe I've just done all the torture scenes too many times I'm so used to it. [editline]9 September 2012[/editline] You can also use a pen or some object to roll over the button if you really do get stuck on the torture parts.
I have both a 360 and PS3 controller with me, and i can confirm that you can press the 360 controllers face buttons faster, probably has to do with the shape and how easy it is to press it in.
It's because Sony are dumb and make all their controllers really mushy. Pressing a button on a PSP, Vita or PS3 controller feels like there's a marshmallow under the buttons, the 360 is just a really tight spring, there's a small amount of resistance so you feel each button press more.
i didn't have a problem with the torture scenes that was about the only part i was good at
Well the problem is more that you can't adjust it. Like here: Literally walking towards the camera, can't see any shit in front of you.
Just experienced this with the Nikita Launcher, I mean you see every direction except forward.
I don't know if it's because I'm good at mashing buttons or the PSP makes it easier to do it but the PW torture scene never felt hard for me. MGS4 is literally the worst of the series IF you don't know that you can't die like I did the first 3 times.
If ground zeroes doesn't have first person mode i will cry
Wait, there was a torture part in MGS4? Did I skip it somehow?
Wait, there was a torture part in MGS4? Did I skip it somehow?
[sp]microwave hallway[/sp]
You guys are calling that hard...? Jesus Christ MGS1 was harder than that, I played on hard mode too.
I just bought Metal Gear HD Collection for the 360. How come I haven't tried this wonderful franchise before? I started with MGS2 and I found the controls a bit wonky, but it's a fantastic game nonetheless.
all mgs threads on fp will eventually devolve into complaining about the torture scenes in mgs fact
