I always get Raging Raven wrong because I mix it up with Raven from the first game.
i don't know how you get the creature name wrong did you forget about all the tentacles???
Dude they look a lot like psycho mantis, psychological and fucked-up wise, so I somehow linked their names with psycho-mantis. Also Praying mantis, mantis this mantis that it made me confused

I sometimes accidentally call Crying Wolf Sniper Wolf considering she's pretty much a sniper wolf. [sp]Rail gun but you know[/sp]

[sp]Rail gun but you know[/sp]
I remember I was talking to my brother about how we thought MGS1 was, except the entire time I got the two's names mixed up and kept saying Sniper Fox and Grey Wolf. He didn't let me know of my fuck up and it took me 3 days to realize it. I was ashamed afterwards.
You should do release order, with PW after 4. If you have a PSP, Portable Ops is worth a go after MGS3. It's nowhere near as good as PW, and its story is barely referenced in future games, but it's fun anyway.
portable ops is a piece of shit and no one should ever play it it contributes nothing other than the fact that naked snake meets campbell the level design is bland and the game play is overly tedious peace walker is amazing though
portable ops is a piece of shit and no one should ever play it it contributes nothing other than the fact that naked snake meets campbell the level design is bland and the game play is overly tedious peace walker is amazing though
I haven't played it, but from the videos i've seen the level design looks really good. I'm sick of jungle levels in video games and that was always the biggest downfall for MGS3 and PW to me, portable ops looks like it focuses more on dryish desert areas and urban/building levels which is great.
If somebody's going to play the whole series and wants a good entry point, then they should just go with release order. As for saving the best until last, MGS4 and PW will have giant holes in them without MGS3, so if you're in it for the story - which most people are - it's best to play by release.
Chronological order would also work, i suppose.
It's also best to play by release for gameplay reasons in some respects, you get to see how the series evolved and new mechanics were added instead of moving on from say, Peace Walker to MGS1 (chronologically correct) and suddenly feeling like you lost everything.
portable ops is a piece of shit and no one should ever play it it contributes nothing other than the fact that naked snake meets campbell the level design is bland and the game play is overly tedious peace walker is amazing though
PW is alright, I just hate the vehicle missions. There are so damn many.
I haven't touched Peace Walker in months. It's so radically different. I'm stuck on either the 2nd or 3rd tank mission. The one where you show up near a train. I can't beat it. Also, about how many total missions are there? 500? 1,000? 200?
PW is alright, I just hate the vehicle missions. There are so damn many.
I think the tank missions would be okay if there was a better way than either A: Shooting five billion missiles at it. Or B: Sneaking and trying to fulton 36 people but you cant because even with full fulton and gas mines there are still three of the cunts and you need to S rank the mission to get the fulton gustav and FUCK FUCKING FUCK FUCK the tank saw me!
One of the major downsides of PW is that the boss battles are basically just shooting a couple of rockets and then waiting for another ammo drop.
Chronological order would also work, i suppose.
Personally I wouldn't recommend it because MGS3, PO and PW are loaded with references to future games. The end of PW for instance [sp]references events from MGS4[/sp], more specifically [sp]the whole Cipher thing won't make much sense because the player doesn't know about Zero and The Patriots.[/sp] I hate to seem so anal about it but I do strongly suggest release order to new players for reasons like that. [editline]27th November 2012[/editline]
portable ops is a piece of shit and no one should ever play it it contributes nothing other than the fact that naked snake meets campbell the level design is bland and the game play is overly tedious peace walker is amazing though
I found it very fun, although it's not as refined as the other games (or even as important). Besides, there's more than just Big Boss meeting Campbell in there.
One of the major downsides of PW is that the boss battles are basically just shooting a couple of rockets and then waiting for another ammo drop.
those armor piercing ammo machineguns are imho actually faster to take out a boss
Just ordered MGS4 from Amazon. This is gonna be great.
Wondering what can we expect for GZ, and well, MGS5 as well. Also, is it wrong to think that the Boss is the most badass character in MGS? Hell, maybe after MGS5, she will have her own game(think during WW2 and before MGS3).

Man I always laughed out loud when she did it.

I wouldn't mind that as the series finale.

GZ is a prequel to MGS5 so MGS5 probably won't be the Cobra Unit in Normandy or anything. Kojima mentioned he was going to have the MGR:R team make that game but then they decided that the team wouldn't be up for it so they made Rising Revengence instead. [editline]29th November 2012[/editline] Also I beat MGS4 again yesterday and [sp]killed ocelot without dying for once.[/sp] I got eagle again, I hate how the easiest emblem to get is also the highest one before the ones that involve things like no continues or alerts.
i'm gonna guess mgs5 is gonna be a remake of metal gear and metal gear 2. pls kojima.
I need to to another Big Boss run on mgs4 again. It's just that damn bike section is so damn near impossible, but the rest of the game is piss easy.
Where has this thread been my whole life! I Fucking love the Metal Gear Series!
It would be nice if i could walk while crouched in MGS3. That would be helpful.
It would be nice if i could walk while crouched in MGS3. That would be helpful.
You can in the 3DS version.
Does anyone know if there will be a MGS Revengeance demo? (Like released on PSN, rather than the one that comes with Zone of Enders HD) I heard somewhere it should come out on November 30th but I can't find anything.
i just want to know what the fuck is the deal with the children with a 3.5mm jack in their sternum [editline]30th November 2012[/editline] did anyone almost fucking implode when the kid pulled the plug out of his chest?

I just beat it on Extreme a couple of days ago, and I thought it was insanely easy, I barely even got hurt.
