Fuckin 'ell, I wanna know who the burned man in the GZ trailer is.
Is it Volgin? Coldman? Big Boss' dad? The boss's dad? The Sorrow? The Sorrow's dad?
Even if it doesn't make any sense timeline-wise, I still think that its Psycho Mantis.
Them scars.

That is exactly who I thought it was the first time.

What if it's Psycho Mantis' father?
What if it's Psycho Mantis' father?
Why would Mantis' dad have the exact same scars as Mantis?
Why would Mantis' dad have the exact same scars as Mantis?
Mantis is actually Mantis' father who transplanted his own scars to adopt his personality to fool the patriots.
Duh.

TL;DR nanomachines
So we ARE going to get a trophy named "The Psycho Mantis Paradox" after all.
Also damn, I'm playing MGS4 slowly as fuck because well, the game is awesome and I really don't want it to end so fast. I just [sp]killed Raging Raven, I did it once, took me A LOT of time, gee, and then suddenly, thunder! It turned my console off and I had to battle it again. Fuck this, bought a javelin and killed it with like, 4 shots? Also, what the fuck was Big Boss doing inside that god damn van oh God oh God[/sp]
Five hours? What were you doing?

Were you playing it in slow-motion?
Honestly, I was surprised myself when I saw 4h47 playtime on that Act 1 end screen. I replayed Act 1 today and it took me 3h31. So I've no idea how the hell it took so long :v: I did kind of explore every corner, I fought a bit with the PMC, died on purpose a few times so I could sneak past rather than fighting, I guess somehow it all took almost 5 hours.

What a twist!
I love that last cutscene in Act 3, Liquid Ocelot is just such an enjoyably over the top villain.
I love that last cutscene in Act 3, Liquid Ocelot is just such an enjoyably over the top villain.
The cutscene where [sp]Liquid gained control of the SOP[/sp] was great, but I could have done without the five minutes of soldiers arriving and aiming their guns. That part really dragged on.
So I read this article on possible theories for the story in MGS:GZ and to be honest, they've got a highly likely one.
They've posed the idea that it could be some Assassin's Creed style VR simulation of a major point in Big Boss' life which is being used to train Solid Snake for his first offensive against Big Boss AKA Metal Gear 1. The only thing I could think that counter-acts this is the fact that if Solid Snake truly went through this era of Big Boss' life in detail wouldn't he figure out pretty quickly that he's not the villain the Patriots/Zero set him up to be?

Any thoughts?

You didn't know Big Boss was the bad guy until much later in the game, so this wouldn't really make a lot of sense.
I guess it could still be a VR simulation though, but not from back then, besides I doubt VR canonically existed all the way back in Metal Gear 1 and 2.
If he was taking VR training to fight Big Boss, the Patriots would probably manipulate the VR to make BB be the bad guy. Also, Snake didn't find out that Big Boss was the baddy in MG1 til quite a ways into the operation, so having him taking VR training to fight BB wouldn't make much sense. I like the idea though, Snake getting training by being Big Boss would be neat.
24 saves, 82 continues, 73 alerts, 147 kills and 85 rations. A true MGS2 Professional, onto MGS3 !

Yeah this makes a lot more sense now, I wouldn't rule out some sort of VR. The whole lights popping up and reversed FOX symbol supports the idea quite well.
Only normal for my first playthrough, I really started to get used to the game right about when Emma showed up, so I suppose I'll aim for a better score next time. Also, I see why everyone hates raiden so much :v:
Another thing I really liked was the story, I understand why some find it confusing but god damn it had me in awe by the end.
The only thing i didn't like about MGS2 was the everybodies hands were in the shape of holding a gun, it looked goofy as hell.

Pics? Not really sure what you mean.
The MGS2 soundtrack really stood out to me, I found myself constantly stopping just to listen to it, especially during the boss fights. Half acid trance, half classic mgs.
Act 3 in MGS 4 is kind of.... short compared to other acts. And quite different than previous too...
"new game" announced at vga called the phantom pain. pretty sure it's just a fake name and a viral video for mgs gz.

Is Volgin the lord of fire now?
the engine the game is running on obviously looks like fox engine, main character has similar features to big boss, psycho mantis(?), volgin(?)
also ceo name of moby dick studios Joakim Mogren is an anagram for Kojima mOGREn
maybe project ogre???
I thought it was already confirmed project ogre was gz.
don't think project ogre = gz, kojima said they were both unrelated but who knows!
He could always just be fucking with us, which I'm sure he's doing in many different ways.
