If I wanted to just have as much fun as possible in WoT, which tanks would be ideal?
Baisically which tanks get decent matchmaking, and are not shitty?

Russian heavies (especially KV-1/2 and the IS-3), American heavies (especially the T29 and T32), also lower tiers in general. For light tanks the VK 2801 and Chaffee are great, also the T71 and AMX 13 90. (Lower tier French light grind is a bit painful though.)
Also I hear some of the Russian mediums are pretty good (T-34), and from experience the M18 Hellcat, M4 Sherman, M4A3E2, and M4A3E8 are all good fun.
I've never played a German/British/Chinese tank so I can't advise you there.
As always, three- (or even two-) player platoons with competent players, preferably friends can make your tanking experience several times more enjoyable.
Don't play British heavies if you want to have fun. I'm on the Caernarvon right now and the only notable and enjoyable tank so far as been the Black Prince at tier 7, and even then it's not a great tank. Just a decent one with standout armor and subpar everything else. The Caernarvon isn't that bad and reminds me a lot of the King Tiger, but it has some serious flaws that prevent it from being really good. British mediums supposedly get good at the Cromwell.
Aside from the VK3601 and possibly the King Tiger (if you think higher tier battles are fun) I can't think of any outstanding German tanks. German tanks in general are specialized tanks that must be driven under the excuse "if you play it a certain way," which is usually short-hand for "it sucks and you need to play especially well to take advantage of this tank and perform well." The PzIV was a fantastic (if stupid looking) mid-tier sniper, but has since lost it's L/70, turning it into a mediocre tank that is a cross between the Sherman and T-34 but not as good as either of them.
The tier 4-6 American turreted TDs (M8A1, T49, and M18) are the best thing to happen to World of Tanks and I always enjoy playing those three tanks. I'm also fond of the Sherman line and their 105mm cannons.
Russian tanks in general are easy and enjoyable. There aren't many of them that outright suck. If you can get through the A-20, I enjoyed both T-34s. They're all around good and adaptable tanks.
The Chi-Ha is also weirdly good and a lot of fun. It feels like a tier 4 tank with tier 3 matchmaking.

German TD's are loads of fun until tier 6, then the fun resumes after that.
Right now I am looking at the E2, the T29, maybe french lights, and the IS/IS-3. Should I get an IS through the KV-1S or the T-150?

Any of the Shermans, Hellcat, VK3601H, Hetzer, Stug(depends on the player), Crusader. Just to name a few.

There are people other than me who like that tank? The Crusader is apparently a guilty pleasure as I hear a lot of people hate it.

Hetzer, StuG, Churchill I and III (never the VII)

I have 5k battles and 1260 eff
I'm not good enough :C

Yeah, I like it. Nice with full camo...though I normally like it for the looks but it can do well in a fight if you arent so greedy.
Sturmtiger confirmed as an elaborate hoax. Now to wait for the real one

Hellcat, Cromwell, KV-2, Pershing (nobody except me like it apparently, though), any Sherman with HEAT, AMX 13/90 and the T32.
I'd say the AMX 13/90, T32 and Cromwell are my absolute favorite out of all these. Especially the T32, playing the KT makes me realize just how much I loved it :(

Again
It's the same website that propagated the T71/StuG hybrid picture as a new American tank :v:

And also the same website that has leaked insider info before that has turned out to be true.
So, T-150 or KV-1S?
So, T-150 or KV-1S?
I don't know how they play into the IS stock grind, but the KV-1S is unarguably one of the best tier 6 tanks in the game. That's probably the way you should go.
So, T-150 or KV-1S?
KV-1S. If you go down the T-150 route without going down the KV-1S route first, you will end up with a tier 9 tank using a tier 7 cannon for 40,000 xp. Then after you unlock the next gun, you're stuck with a tier 8 gun in a tier 9 tank for like 60k xp. Get the KV-1S

Dickers Max should honestly be re-named 'Use this if you have gold and need a lot of XP..... Max'
I've never platooned with anybody in WoT. Is it super cool fun times
KV-1S get

Not really, you have to wait around for them to die and you have to have equal tiers for MM and it's just a pain in general.
I love you Black Prince. You are the best tier 7 tank I've ever owned.

That's only if you you die, and getting into tanks with the same matchmaking is easy for the most part.

Or if you see a T34/KV-5/Lowe/D. Max/TOG/any premium tank with <1000 battles, you know they're gonna shitlord it up hard-core.

Well given most people have a survival rate of around 20-30% for all their matches...
and not everybody has equivalent tank tiers. I have a huge lack of 5-7. Even though I have some 30 tanks in my garage I don't keep a lot of different MM tiering ones.

I can firmly state that the AMX 13 90 is my favorite tank. When I'm done grinding cash, it's going to be my go-to 'I'm bored, time for fun!' tank. Being able to swing around a flank, pop a couple of low-health heavies, and run away without taking a lick of damage is one of the best feelings.
KV-2, Hellcat, Cromwell, and VK2801 are also right up there on the fun list. I'd run the VK2801 more if it didn't cost me a buttload of silver to fuel my HEAT fetish.
Researched the KV-13, still need about 500K credits to buy it though. Also if anyone plays on the EU server I'm up and ready for platoons! Just reply here with ingame nick.

What I love about the AMX 13/90 is that it doesn't give a single fuck about matchmaking. Maus? You just got flanked ugly brick that can't hit me. IS-7? Six 90mm shells to the engine compartment. T110E5? American paper sides are delicious for breakfast.
E-50s are a problem though, actually any tank above 50 tons that goes 60 kph is a gigantic problem for an AMX 13.
If they ever add the AMX 13/105 I'm sooo buying. I don't care if it's a T8 premium that costs 50$, it will be mine.

Also about the KV-2
[T]http://i.imgur.com/k4PGbW5.jpg[/T]
The good old days of the Tier 5 KV-2, pre-HE nerf.
That pissed off Ferdinand got a 800 damage shell to the engine deck :v:
Did I mention my track ate his first 128 shell (without getting damaged) and his second shell dinged off my mantlet?
I have been rammed 2 times, both times I took 0 damage and the rammers died. They both had 50% or so hp left.

how have i been so lucky
[sp]yes i know 33 battles doesn't decide anything but im still amazed i was able to get so many victories[/sp]

I'm not too scared of E-50s, if I can attack them while they're either distracted or alone, but the American and Russian mediums are pretty scary. I seem to have terrible luck when circling them, since they have low profiles that screw with the 13 90's bad gun depression and poor on-the-move aiming.
Smooth Ride is definitely going to be my next driver skill.

ANVIL and FORGE are two of the best clans out there. I've seen a FORGE member with a 90% win ratio on the SU-26 after some 500 battles. ANVIL or FORGE platoons are terrifying.
they still lost against our SUPERIOR PUB TEAM
but just barely
