Eugh, I think I'm having terrible 'beginner's luck' with the Lorraine 40t. I'm either cursed by being caught out of position, or with idiot teams who don't know the back of their tank from the front.
Going to give this a go, I'm downloading it now.

1) Do not play SPGs.
2) Don't rush; use cover to your advantage (hide behind rocks or bushes).
3) Start with either the Russian or American lines, both have very solid tanks.
4) Don't play the French tanks until you're good.
5) Do [b]not[/b] play SPGs.
6) Most importantly, don't go lone wolf.

French TDs are good (apart from the tier 4 and 6)

Try them out so you have a idea how they work, and how to take cover from them (it helps.)

I'm Australian too, but I play on the NA server. Apparently the community is better, if you can believe that...
As for Calkkuna's advice about SPGs, if you're going to play any of them, play the German lines.
Regarding French tanks; they all suck until tier 5, and with some exceptions they become amazing after tier 6-7, but they require a skilled tanker to operate them with any sort of effectiveness.
Apparently there is a fairly big latency difference between the servers so I figured I would go with sea.
If the community turns out to be really bad I might consider switching to NA.

Plus SEA server has absolutely pathetic specials comparing to the NA server.

I've been playing on NA for ages, it's all fine even with 250 ping. All you have to do is add a tiny bit of compensation for the extra delay, which you have to do when tracking moving vehicles anyway.

Unlock both the 85mm and the top 122mm, I think you can only use the 85mm on the IS's stock turret.

Well, I think I've sussed out the Lorraine 40t, now that I have the tracks unlocked and the GLD/Vents/Vstab mounted. I just play it exactly like I would my AMX 50 100 in a tier 9 match. With 100% crew and the top engine, hopefully I'll be able to put it to better use, though.
