That model (and the very idea of extending the superstructure over the engine deck) is one of the dumbest and ugliest ideas I've seen.
It's like people don't understand interior space or how a gun breech moves in a tank (hurr hurr how do i swivel). The extension over the engine deck would most likely have been relatively minor (the breech wouldn't suddenly be twice the size because you added 11 fucking calibers to the gun).
I kinda hate Doyle for publishing these very early proposals and their napkin drawings, the fucking fanboys come all over it while screaming "GERMANY ES #1 HUE HUE HUE" while not realizing just how fucking silly they are.
You realize that modification is so that they could stick more of the barrel INSIDE the tank so it doesn't hang out like 20 feet, right? It's silly and extremely unnecessary yes, but it was a design and that's supposedly how it looked.
I'm confused, how is everyone with a VK2801 (or the other two for the matter) getting bumped up a tier for free a bad thing? Unless they nerf the VK2801 when they move it up a tier (how would that work?), it can only get better. It's not like it gets tier 5 matchmaking right now anyway.
it'll probably get MM tiers 8-12 now instead of 7-12, which means we can't rape tier 7s
So, we FV215b owners wont get our hands on that?
Nope, they are keeping the current FV215b on the heavy line and then adding the 183mm version as the T10 TD. In the far future we might get the Chieftain but I wouldn't expect it until at least next year.

Alright I'm unmad now, I finally got that god damn VPN server working after 2 weeks of spamming UNIX commands at it so I guess I can say a sentence without "fucking" in it.
About extending the superstructure and moving the gun inward, what really makes it dumb is how it would remove any space around the gun (guess where the gunner is sitting, along with the commander) which would require a whole new interior layout, some new optics, a new gun mounting, a new recoil mechanism and a midget loader.
There's also the issue of blocking the cooling fans, which was a really horrible thing with those high heat gasoline engines, there have been plenty of tanks getting "knocked out" by shrapnel destroying the fans and then the engine cooking itself to death or catching on fire. These vents were pretty much designed to give the best airflow/protection ratio, extending the superstructure over them would mean designing a new engine deck too. At that point, you're better off designing a whole new tank on the same chassis, one with a rear superstructure if possible.

and the breech is not even going to be reachable by hand right
Just earned a neat 145k coins on a match in my t34. Feels good man

Any idea if there will be a test server? I presume there will be a test server for every new version?

That's what I implied by "midget loader" :v:
I admire Doyle's dedication to his research (and I wish I could go in France to look at the 19 000 AMX blueprints myself) but people take the results from his research for hard facts a little too much. Most of these proposals stayed in the womb for a reason, and that reason is not called Hitler.
I kinda agree on the slight Soviet bias on some stuff though. Like how the IS-4 has a 42 kph top speed, 42 kph was probably the speed at which the suspension goes "lol nope" which is pretty much the same as the King Tiger's, but WG is only giving it to the Soviet piece of shit.

Also the IS-4 can go backwards down hills at full speed for some reason
While most tanks cannot.
I do not know why this is. It caused my death once.

Neat.
Will be interesting to see what they do with turret traverse. I read somewhere that it couldn't turn the turret 90 degrees towards the sides because the weight of the gun would tip it over even on flat ground, so the traverse would have to be limited. All thoeretical of course, because only a mock up was ever built I think.
Very nice info source for British tanks of the period here http://www.scribd.com/doc/43991108/Conqueror-Heavy-Gun-Tank-From-www-jgokey-com
Weren't they going to add a Tier 7 German Light Tank in sometime, stated in a previous dev QA? Which one is that?
Archer looks sexy as fuck

It was a scout based on the panther chassis IIRC, I think it was supposed to come in around the time the second German med branch gets added. so Q3 2014
Archer looks sexy as fuck
It might not be the archer
They could easily go ahead and put in this thing instead.

but that's ugly
Okay. Anybody care to share some tips?
Sherman Jumbo is what I'm using.
1. No penetration on most tier eights
2. They, unless perfectly angled (which I'm not bad at doing), penetrate the 100mm front armor and two shot me
3. No penetration on some/most tier sevens
- Is there a good weak spot guide for tier sevens and eights? -
Almost all of the time the games are ending with me taking on a tier seven but then two or three more coming along because my team has failed to hold them back and my low damage is unable to take them out, resulting in me being flanked and wiped out.
use 105 if you dont like not penning
try going hull down as much as possible

actually if those were listed by tiers its probably going to be this, because there's no way the archer is going to be a tier 4 when it has the 17 pounder
On Dragon Ridge, T34 with 600 something health left charges down a hill at me in my KV-5.
Free kill? Yes please.
[editline]derp[/editline]
God I remember why I love this tank so much. The KV-5 has such an amazing ability to engage multiple targets when you're moving downhill at 50kmh.

Its a really well endowed tetrarch :v:
Fun fact of the day:
That tank is steered using lateral motion from the roadwheels instead of the usual brake/clutch combo.
Same with the Tetrarch actually, the Harry Hopkins is a little heavier and a whole lot slower though.

Harry Hopkins actually.
Also, machine guns on the Panzer 1 ausf C are going to be absolutely fine.
It was capable of penetrating 25mm armor sloped at 60 degrees at 300m distance.
The far left round is a standard rifle round. The round that this gun shoots is the 7.92x94mm.

Yep, I agree that it is a super retarded design, but hey, that's what the blueprints/sketches showed and that's how the modders modeled it :v:

That's a whole hell of a lot of propellant for such a tiny round. No wonder it could pen as much as it did.
Wow. Just wow.
I had to bail out an M103 from two Tiger Is, as he was dumb and didn't face his frontal armor towards them, thus ending up in him getting permatracked until I showed up in my Lorraine 40t and wiped them.
Now, we're dying pretty quickly in city, but it's salvageable... until he goes off and hunts the enemy artillery. Then dies to a T-43. I don't fucking even.
