What does gold ammo matter if you're driving a Tiger.
There should be a 'Team carrier' badge, for when you do more damage than your entire team combined.

This seems to be a very common misconception.
APCR and HEAT very, very rarely does more damage in the same gun. The only one I can think of is the 100mm gun for the ARL 44, doing 330 instead of 300 damage, as well as additional penetration.
I think the point he was getting at is that in a Tiger, your armor is worthless against standard AP, so why complain about gold?

wasn't complaining about gold ammo in specific relation to the Tiger because I know the Tiger's armour is worthless anyway, was a general note

Honestly, I'd also say that the Chinese light tanks are pretty nifty. The 59-16 starts off as fast and agile, as opposed to the AMX 12t, which feels like a brick with a scooter engine.
Bouncing KV-1S shells in moderately armoured tanks is such a relieving feeling.
And then they load gold.

my guess is, that the "wtf" factor combined with people facing the tanks for the first time, means they didn't really know how to fight them at all, especially as no one knew the stats back then
