And I've been running into "dead" tanks lately, too. Where they are still alive on my end, but they were already destroyed.
I had one of these recently too. I assumed (ie I don't know for sure) that all the crew were dead. It's annoying when it shows it as still alive though. [editline]24th January 2013[/editline]
British heavy line is definitely worth it if you like slow, well armored, fast firing tanks. It's so worth it from my point of view that I kept all the churchills from the churchill I to the black prince and the caernarvon so far seems like another keeper.
British line is a bit odd really. At Tier 5 the Churchill I has good hull armour and the weak spot is the unreinforced part of the 90 degree upper hull and the turret cheeks (anywhere on turret other than mantlet). Same goes for Church VII, though it's hull will do you less favours at this level. The Black Prince turret is very strong at Tier 7, but has the same hull as the Tier 5 and is easily penetrated by other Tier 7s frontally, so you need to hide the hull as best you can (not very good gun depression, but better than earlier Churchills). 17pounder is a great gun with low alpha but high RoF. The Caernarvon has an a very bouncy mantlet on the Centurion (upgraded) turret. The hull is made of cheese and the ammo rack is in the lower left hull. Angle it when you can. Wet Ammo Rack helps as does the skill, but be prepared for it to go regularly. The 20 pounders are pin point accurate and have a very fast aiming time, so they need to be played a bit differently to other tier 8 heavies. Great as a support tank, but don't go playing peekaboo round buildings with higher alpha Tier 8s + unless you really know you're not going to get shot at. The stock Conqueror is EXACTLY the same tank as the Caernarvon you just left, but playing up a tier. Same hull, same turret, same engine, same gun with a slightly increased RoF. Very squishy at this level. Snipe and flank. That's as far as I've got, though I hear the Conqueror turret is, if anything, less bouncy than the Cent (stock) turret. The top gun is a beast though. Apparently still needs to be played as support as it won't bounce much. The ammo rack at the front, though historically correct, is a real pain. I'm using more repair kits than on any other tank I've played. The driver dies a lot for the same reason. Also, the Commander is like a shrapnel magnet for arty. Get your head back in the fucking turret mate! I enjoy the British heavies very much, but it isn't all plain sailing.
FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCKKKKKKK! I had such a good game in my e 50 but then my own arty kills me! FKJSDHNLOISTDH,KVNLTVNGLVKOHB FUUCK
The Black Prince is easily one of my favourite Tier 7's thanks to it's amazing armour. I don't know what you were doing but you can easily bounce other T7 guns off the front if you angle. The side armour is also incredibly strong as it's 95 and if you angle it you can bounce T9 and sometimes T10 guns. If you get the Black Prince angle the shit out of it and you can go through an entire game not getting penned once. It has easily the best armour of any T7 as you're basically non-penetrable, the reason the Tiger P isn't the most armoured is thanks to its cheeks which can be penned by a 150 pen gun. It also doesn't have the same hull armour as the T5, the T5 only has it on a tiny strip whereas the Black Prince basically has the entire front of the tank with 152mm of armour.

Some plates aren't sloped at all, and 152mm is, therefore, not that much (175.5mm at 60 degrees from horizontal before normalisation). As I understand it, there is very little difference to the armouring between the different hulls, but I'm sure Orkel can clarify for us. From memory, I finished the BP with about 59% win rate playing only solo randoms. It's good. And yes it does bounce and it's tracks/sideskirts do eat shells regularly. The point I was trying to make was that you cannot rely on that hull to bounce at tier 7. At Tier 5 it can be relied upon. The opposite is true of the turret armour.

You can't bounce the 190-200 pen guns but if you reverse out of corners you can easily bounce any gun, even T9 ones.

That's just daft. It's thickest armour is 152mm on the hull. You would bounce clean shots to your 152mm plate about 23.7% of the time from a 175mm pen gun at point blank range. And you can bounce a 200mm gun under the same circumstances about 2% of the time. All depends on the RNG. Gets a bit better at range of course.

Also, I think I know if I've bounced 175 pen guns off my front without angling. There's also no point bringing in chances because as you said "All depends on the RNG". It's the exact reason this game can never really be a level playing field between two of the same tanks or same skill level players. RNG always messes with everything, if you're fighting someone on a flat area only 50m away and they have 100 frontal armour and you have a gun that has 120 pen, you still can bounce thanks to the RNG.

You contradicted me when I said that the BP hull was less effective at Tier 7 than the Churchill I was at Tier 5. The effectiveness of the hull armour diminishes over those three tiers, while the BP turret is extremely effective at Tier 7. I recommended that you try to protect the weaker effective hull armour of the BP, and you suggest that the hull bounces everything. Just re-examining my point of view and clarifying that when you say 'always', you actually mean 'sometimes'.
T-15 VS M22 locust! Agree for T-15 Disagree for m22 locust My vote goes for the T-15.

The Black Princes front however is all 152 and it's slightly angled so at T7 and above it's still pretty effective with all the RNG and angling that will take place.

Ok... So anyway, I'm looking at a good moneymaking premium and I'm caught between the SU-122-44, the Super Pershing, and the Jagdtiger 8.8. Which one is the most fun?
I would say SU-122 is the most fun.
