I need to send a replay to understand what's wrong with my T29. I don't understand why 50% of shells do not ever deal any damage but always penetrate. It's making it difficult to duel, you just get rushed in the hull-down. Yes it's with the (shitty) 105mm.

Once I got past the lack of acceleration it was a fairly smooth grind, at least for the 2 days it took to get the Pershing.

This is more of a general question but, is there a visual difference between AP and gold rounds? Is there any way to tell whether someone is using gold or not other than apparently penetrating things they probably shouldn't be able to?
As far as I can tell (I only play with effects on low) they look identical. I've shot gold rounds myself and never noticed a visual difference.

APCR tracers are a blue-ish tone, the damage decal on the tank is the same as normal AP shells.
HEAT shells have a [B]tiny [/B]little damage decal (even if it dings), about the size of a 37mm round hitting you.

I had it fully upgraded without the engine before giving up on it. On the WoT anniversary special (7 days of freemium) I decided to grind the fuck out of it since I had nothing to do. I must have spent 16 hours in total just grinding it mindlessly.
I still got like 1.8k efficiency in it, weird.
Got my Mastery Medal in the VK 3601 (H) on the 7th game. Oh man. This is going to be a good tank.
6k games and 80% of my battles are with US tanks. Other than that British tanks with the slight bits of other trees such as TigerP.

Even though the 3601 is one of my favorite tanks in the game, I think it might be a little overpowered. It's one of the very few unequivocally good German tanks and has no real weaknesses except [i]maybe[/i] subpar penetration on the 88. However, with its great mobility, accuracy, and large HP pool for its tier you can work around that. You could also use the 75mm L/70 if you favor accuracy and penetration over damage and alpha.
Damn, like 17% of my games have been in my M46 Patton back in the days it was OP before they added the terribad M48.

The M48A1 wasn't terribad before they nerfed the fuck out of it though.
The lower RoF is acceptable, but the fact they made the on-the-move accuracy identical to the T-62A is just... ugh.
The good old days of the M46 are over though, but I guess with 460 games played on it and 380k+ XP accumulated I've got my fair share of it.
I like that vertical Tech Tree, is that a mod? If so, please link again, I am caveman.

If you mean the Sherman M4, it's a fun little tank made great with 105mm HEAT. Even without it, it gets put into games where even the HE can penetrate and one hit kill at least a few tanks a game. I also find the 105mm to be much more accurate than it's stats would have you believe. It probably has something to do with the Sherman's above average on the move accuracy.
Since Shermans were one of the first tanks to ever have stabilisation on their guns, it's entirely possible.
M4 with HEAT is the most OP thing currently in the game IMO (not counting arty)
It completely destroys anything it will ever meet

The KV-5 is a more practical rammer because it does more damage than the E-50 at lower speeds, and has more armor and weight so it takes quite a bit less damage when it does make contact.

HEAT on E-100 makes it balanced against the railguns of every other nation.
Ahh, M24 chaffee. Playing Lakeville, figured I'd spot the mountain valley pass, get some nice easy XP..
Spotted E-100 and Maus, arty taking their chunks out of them, great game I thought...
Looked at the end result, 500 spotting damage done GAH, the T-54 behind me had 3000 spotting damage...yeah guess he somehow had a better view even though I'm sure when I peaked out, they were being spotted and getting hit.
Sad times :(
