Mentaru Shoujo was a placeholder name. It's called missing stars
I'll just stick to calling it what i always do, A dumb idea.
And KS wasn't??
wait mentaru shoujo is real link link link
I'll just stick to calling it what i always do, A dumb idea.
Unlike KS, I find it actually offensive. Considering I know a plethora of people with a variety of mental disorders, I just KNOW they are going to pull something stupid.
as an obsessive compulsive wacko I'm looking forward to it
All of the people working on it(who I've spoken to) seem to be off their rocker. But let's stop talking about non-KS things here.
All of the people working on it(who I've spoken to) seem to be off their rocker. But let's stop talking about non-KS things here.
True. So who here is pumped for talking about the same things we have talked about 50 thousand times already?
Where did you get that first quote from? And I don't know how tasteful it's going to be. I'd imagine that it's very hard to keep something like this from bothering people.
are you fucking serious "ks is fine because people spent time on it and its in no way offensive!!!!" "i find this game offensive because i know people that are like this!!! its going to be offensive and i have no proof" Do you have any idea how dumb that accusation is? EDIT: Sure it's probs going to be utterly terrible, But you are just acting like a lot of the people that hated KS
Do you have any idea how much more serious of a matter a mental disability is? A physical disability, especially one that the person was born with, is generally much easier to overcome and the person can lead, for the most part, a normal life. But when it comes to a Mental Disability, it can damage others as well as the person who has it at any given time without warning. The difference isn't about how long someone spent on it. Not at all. It is just that making something based around such a thing is such an awful idea that it won't ever be a good idea by any stretch of the word. Also, Yamaku is based off a real university. Missing Stars has no academy to base it off of.
harder than missing limbs and burn victims? stop worrying about people's feelings, you'll never get ahead that way.
I never said I was worrying about it. I didn't even say that I cared at all. I've supported this since I heard about it. The only thing I was doing was pointing out that his "accusation" was not dumb.

And yeah, I'm sure having obsessive compulsive disorder is harder than being blind. Or maybe you can just realise you're biased as hell and not viewing anything from a normal perspective.
I'm just gonna try it, if it's not good, it's not good and I won't finish it. It's not like this is the first thing ever that people might just find offensive. I'm sure there's lots of people being offended by the idea of KS but that doesn't stop me from trying (and liking) it. If you're not going to do things because people might find the material offensive, you're narrowing yourself down and you'll miss out on lots of stuff, because people are going to bitch about things, no matter what it is.
Missing stars? Almost forgot about that, I was watching their blog every now and then a while ago but it doesn't seem like a lot is happening. Unless I completely missed out on something all they have really released to show the public is some character previews, and they aren't exactly striking me as brilliant (art is nice though). If it gets finished I'll probably try to play it, but I can imagine it might be hard to get through when I'm constantly comparing and relating it to KS in the back of my head. There's just no way it could live up to KS, I think. EDIT: Also, mental disabilities being much more "serious" than physical disabilities, affecting those around you? Wut. I imagine the lives of family with a quadruple-amputee child is quite significantly affected by that kid's needs. Some people with mental disabilities can manage their everyday lives on their own, some cant. Same as with physical disabilities. That being said, KS managed to achieve an amazing tastefulness considering its main topic, I wouldn't be surprised if Missing Stars "misstep" at that.
KS took like, 5 years.
I believe they said the general process behind a VN is quite boring, so it wouldn't make sense to update the blog with "Today we finished 2 scenes" or "I created concept art for character X". I think you'll see more updates after something actually gets done, which might take a long while, seeing as
KS took like, 5 years.
Wasn't Mentaru Shoujo's name changed to Missing Stars because the KS Devs told them to either rename it or stop making it? [editline]2nd June 2012[/editline] Also, I haven't written a single god damn thing in four days. FOUR DAYS. This little fucker right here is why. I'm so sorry ;_;
Writing inspiration
Writing inspiration
The Binding of Hisao. Fuck it, why not. [editline]edit[/editline] Then again, maybe one of the girls would work better. I dunno. Just the concept of Binding of Isaac fanfiction sounds silly because Isaac is, y'know, a baby. I am probably maybe not really going to do this.
Wasn't Mentaru Shoujo's name changed to Missing Stars because the KS Devs told them to either rename it or stop making it?
I think it was also a decision of themselves, seeing as they didn't know a good name yet when they started and they didn't want it to get mixed up.

I think it was just a working title, too. They've openly stated that Missing Stars was inspired by KS, so picking a temporary related name wasn't very surprising. Also, both "Mentaru Shoujo" and "Missing Stars" are abbreviated "MS". Hah, just got that.
dear mum thanks for the basement you got me for my birthday i like it a lot

The ground was cold and hard. I shook my head a bit, groaning as I sat up. The basement, dimly lit as ever, was not a sight I wanted to see. As I stood up, the threat looming above came back to me like it'd taken a baseball bat to my head: Fire. Lots of fire. My parents- or, rather, my mother -had shoved me down the trapdoor moments after I'd discovered it and pointed it out to her. She promised me she'd be safe, but would I? I couldn't hear the flames above crackling anymore. The wooden floorboards not too far over my head spoke little of what could still be up there. The house was practically coming down around us; my room was the only safe spot left. Whatever happened to my father was a mystery. Hell, whatever happened to my mother was a mystery. It was just me here, alone, in the dark. And so I sat on the dirt and I waited. There was really nothing else I could do. I brought my knees to my chest and sat there, praying for a sound, a noise, anything to let me know my parents were still alive in the hell that was consuming my house. After an hour or so, my mind started to wander. I had to stand up, wander around a bit. I was getting restless. I would soon find out why my parents didn't want me to go in the basement growing up.
The Binding of Hanako, maybe. [editline]2nd June 2012[/editline] Again, this whole idea is stupid and silly, but eh. We can always wonder.
more fanfiction please doomish! you're really good at writing and yeah.
missing stars seems like it could be interesting, so i'm gonna play it. if it's shit, it's shit.
Also, Yamaku is based off a real university. Missing Stars has no academy to base it off of.
Yamaku wasn't based off any university, they just used photos from Brown University, but the academy itself was created from scratch.
Yamaku wasn't based off any university, they just used photos from Brown University, but the academy itself was created from scratch.
I also don't see how it would matter if the university was real or not anyways.
KS took like, 5 years.
KS had a lot of development troubles with writer changes and whatnot. Given Missing Stars isn't immune to this, but if all goes well it could be released in 2-3 years, or at least have a demo out by this year if they choose to release one.
