It's tempting to make one of those 'thread simulator' videos here, except with real voiceover by various people
I volunteer!
So I played this game for the first time and I said to myself, I said: "Man, these situations are pretty unrealistic, writing's not so great, this'll be hilarious." One broken man later I discover I've completed all 5 playthroughs.

You know, this game/book/thing has made me think. I need to meet new people. Not by having a heart attack of course, but i need to get myself into a new group of people, considering that i've already fucked up my relationship with everyone i already know.
I actually managed to do so. But christ, I felt like an indecisive suicidal man when it came to crying or not.
It wasn't quite that bad, probably because I don't have a terribly high tolerance for suspending my disbelief, and Kenji seemed to lampshade literally everything that was off with the setting. Too many things seemed to just fall into Hisao's lap for no real reason. "disproportionate amount of cute girls", etc.
I think Katawa Shoujo did a good job making everything perfect for romance. Think about it: no parents, free time, independence, Hisao has no guy friends (Kenji sort of counts but he's not trying to make Hisao spend time with him), every girl has one friend that can help break silences but also at the time give them privacy, every girl doesn't have a group of friends saying "damn gril u don need no mayun", every kid has a supply of money their parent's give them (okay maybe not ALL OF THEM but everyone has money to spend), and it seems like there's always something to do in town if there's nothing to do in the high school. It's perfect despite how much Hisao whines about it.

Even more so because nearly every main or minor non-adult character is female, with the sole exception of Kenji and Hideaki. But let's be honest, who liked Hideaki even one bit?
To be fair there is the fatal heart condition.
man, i hate this heart condition oh hey hanako better pull out my Banana Boat brand condom and have some fun
To be fair there is the fatal heart condition.
Yet it never really seems to impede from doing anything except running too hard as long as he takes some pills every morning. As far as disabilities go, he's probably the most normal kid in the entire school. To be honest I was more or less wondering why he *had* to go to a specially accommodating school at all, there didn't seem to be any reason why he couldn't have done what he did at a regular one.
I mean there's a girl with one arm at my school so why would someone who's missing a hand get put into a disabilities school? Maybe that's just how they roll in Japan land?

Sure, as long as he takes the pills he could probably go to a normal school, but there's Emi running into him early on, and the day he forgets his pills in Lilly's arc, that make me think it's not a good idea. Yamaku is designed to prevent these issues, and, failing that, get people to the nearby hospital far quicker than a normal school could.
this shit's still going? y'all guys are crazy

Was replying to megafan until you fucking ninjas showed up.
Actually wasn't Hisao sent there more because they had a 24/7 in school nursing staff or hospital or something? It was geared more towards his health rather than the fact it could disable him from doing stuff.
I mean there's a girl with one arm at my school so why would someone who's missing a hand get put into a disabilities school? Maybe that's just how they roll in Japan land?
The dark-skinned girl on the track team was missing a hand, and even then it was her left hand (likely not her writing hand). They mention that they take on really anyone, even normal kids that are just a bit slower to pick up on things, but that sounds like more of a contrivance and defeats the school's entire point of existence. I guess what I'm getting at is that if you really think about it, everything exists *just so* in such a way that everything will fall into place for each story. Obviously it's written that way, but it's just a bit jarring.
He was sent there because the school had a great nursing staff so they can rush him in quickly in case he gets a heart attack I think.
I got the implication that Yamaku was just a nice, higher end school that happened to specialize in students with special needs.

Well if he is actually making a thread simulator we should probably start saying weird disgusting fetish-things to make the video entertaining.
Sometimes when I make bacon I caress it and whisper words of encouragement, assuring it its beautiful regardless of how overcooked it is. And when we feel especially naughty I lick the oil off it.
That one guy who asked if he could use his Hanako experience irl is definitely in
Didn't someone had a KS related tulpa before?
