Uhh, not exactly what I meant by that, its just I've heard it described as a Japanese dating-sim with disabled women... I just don't know how graphic the dating-sim part gets, is all.
It isn't even japanese, It's more an adult romance with sex scenes that's also anime.

Okay then, thanks for clearing that up. I'll give it a shot some time, just when my roommates aren't around :v:

Make your roommates watch
Its odd, I don't really like most anime, and I definitely don't care for hentai or any of that, but this game interests me. I saw Jesse Cox play the beginning of it, and while he spent the time making jokes and whatnot as that's what he does, I was actually pretty interested in what was going on.
I suppose I should be asking, if anime's not my thing, and anime porn's not my thing, does the game at least handle it tastefully? As it stands I'm interested in it for the story, not as softcore anime porno, so would it be a wise decision to play it?
I don't want that to sound insulting or whatever if it did, just not too sure what I'd be getting myself into v:v:v
I quite dislike anime and I enjoyed Katawa Shoujo,.
What's wrong with anime

Some people don't like it
Generally because the internet has pretty much gotten people to think that anime is pretty much little girl cartoons about sex but w/e

I would say nothing wrong with that but that brings up the topic of why people dislike anime lovers

Let's introduce him to some serious anime. I suggest Kiss X Sis and Golden Boy. Yeah, that'll show him what anime is all about~ :v:

There's nothing inherently wrong with it. I just don't find myself watching a lot of it.
I do love Cowboy Bebop, Samurai Champloo, and Ghost In The Shell, though.

That's because they're for 'seinen', being directed at adult males. There's good animated work anywhere, so there's no need to generalize about an entire medium.
Let's not derail this thread any further, though.
Agreed on not derailing, but I didn't even remotely try to generalize the medium v:v:v

I know you've already made up your mind (apparently at least), but I just want to say that I was a bit like you, looking at this VN without much care for anime or anything like that, but it's of a far greater quality than I could've expected based on other people's opinions. But, and this might come off as being nitpicking, seeing it as a game really isn't a fair way to judge it, because even though you do get some choice at key points, Hisao really is his own character and the influence of those choices on his personality and such is either insignificant at times or black-and-white at others, so really investing yourself into it as a 'game' is probably going to leave you a bit unsatisfied.
From what I've done/read, the writing's solid and its "Katawa" and "Shoujo" elements are definitely handled well, which makes the feels especially genuine, imho, if you're [sp]into that sort of thing.[/sp]
Just completed Hanako's route. [sp]Rin's route was more loaded with feels (and) but Hanako's ended on a more heartwarming ending, as opposed to a "The future's so bright I gotta wear shades"-but-Hisao-is-still-a-dumbass note.[/sp]

Oh, and it probably also helps that the creators tried to avoid Anime-isms (mentioned in their blog), since they probably had a good idea of how people would see their game initially.

OMFGCata started a fan request playthrough of KS, at 16:48 oh boy the realization. :v:

"Tasteful" is pretty much the most accurate and meaningful description of KS you could give to someone who only know it as "dating sim with crippled girls" otherwise. The sensitive topic of disabilities could've been mishandled so badly by the amateur developers, yet that didn't happen, and that's all one needs to know really.
I'm about to download this.
I'm prepared for all of the feels I'm apparently going to experience.

Well, using the word "katawa" isn't exactly tasteful, but other than that, you're right in that they did handle it well in game. They probably should have checked the precise translation before naming it.

Oh god that was great for some reason. His idea was spot on though.
I need to find the true beauty within these girls that society has cast aside...then bang them.

The devs hey knew what it meant from day 1. They wrote on their blog at some point that they opted to keep the name "Katawa Shoujo" as it was originally written on the RAITA sketches the game was based on. Pretty silly I think, but there you go.
Ahh, it was actually one of the things that put me off trying it initially.
I downloaded it and played it about a week and a half ago, and have completed nearly all of the endings by now, it's was really good. Just got to get Hanako's and Emi's bad endings when I've got time to spare. Kind of regret the fact that I let a name put me off for so long, but I've played it now, and enjoyed it.
And yes, my first ending was the manly picnic.
Whenever I start from the beginning, when Kenji asks if Hanako is cute or not I have to pause for a minute because it pains me to say no for the sake of other endings. I can't be the only one :(
so is it true that 4LS are making another VN
so is it true that 4LS are making another VN
They said a while ago that they might and recently its been revealed that they're doing something. Could be another vn, might not be.

If by 'loving' you mean 'far creepier than it should've been', then yeah.

Ok I take back what I said you can bash my picos but don't talk shit about a family friendly anime like that, it was the only one my parents would watch with me and I have a special bond with that anime
