Each choice you make either gives you a point, takes a point a way, or does neither. Nearing the end it branches off depending on what you we're at. I forget what Rin's was like but Emi's and Shizune's we're straight forward paths.

So, that's it, I've completed the last route. Despite what I've been told, I think Lilly's [sp]good ending[/sp] was pretty much the best way to finish off the whole experience (That or [sp]Shizune's, considering that it goes all the way to graduation.[/sp]) Lilly's route was probably the most obvious in showing how much effort was put into the novel. [sp]I cry during every ending (Yeah, I know)[/sp], so I'm starting to suspect that it's not such a great way to really judge the routes against others, which I probably shouldn't do to begin with. It's just that compared to the other routes, it sort of felt... Lacking. It's probably because I had played all the other routes first, but I just couldn't enjoy Lilly as a character, or even Hisao during this route as much as in the other routes. I think Hanako suffered the most though, she seemed so out of character at times, but that can't really be pinned down as much of a fault when all the character development is happening offscreen and in another route altogether. I think they actually make a point of it when Hanako [sp]pulls Lilly out of the house in Act 2 to talk[/sp], which would rely on you finishing Hanako's route. I'm a fan of retroactive meta, to be honest. Writing-wise it was good, and it even managed to make me envious of how involved the other characters are in it, if only because it is a little more than next to nothing in other routes. Kenji and Rin once again were absolute bro-tier. That said, Acts 2 and 3 felt shorter than other routes's equivalents, although I get the feeling that I was more inclined to rush through this route than get too involved with it. I guess I just didn't like the direction Lilly, Hisao and Hanako were going. I'll admit that I did like Lilly, as I like all the girls in their own way, but she felt too typical a character to be as interesting, like she could belong to a lot more works than just this. Still, it's not hard to see that as being the point, and 4LS have even said that they were going for a more standardised VN character, much like Hanako ([sp]Although she's much more of a blatant deconstruction.[/sp]) The choices were a nice change of pace, with a few of them not actually affecting anything on a deep level, just daily interactions that could go either way. It might detract from the point of advancing the plot, but it definitely helped make the experience more genuine. It was a nice balance for the fact that [sp]2[/sp] very specific choices were vital for getting the good ending, I think. Overall, [sp]Rin>Hanako>Emi>Shizune>Lilly[/sp], deal with it. One of my first thought out reviews for something and it's for Katawa Shoujo, go figure. Have a gif. Lilly being a bit of a [sp]Mary-sue (as in a clichéd and overly idealized character)[/sp] is a complaint I've seen a lot... Sort of agree myself, but I don't think her arc is any worse for that. It's fitting, nicely written and rounded off.

I prefer the various Act 2 musics.

Wiosna, Jitter, Cold Iron, Romance in Andante I & II and Friendship always gets me. Parity, Nocturne, Concord, Red Velvet, Air guitar and Lullaby of open eyes are great too. In fact most are great.

Ah Eh I Oh You is obviously the best. No exceptions.
