Katawa Shoujo v2 - "Why can't I hold all these feels?"
i want 4L to do another VN :(
From what I recall in their blogposts they said they have no plans to make any more as a whole team, but maybe as individual members for their own groups and do so.
I wonder though, could another 4LS VN (or equivalent involving the same members) live up to the expectations? Just finishing the project was above expectation for such a project, actually ending up being good was the icing on the cake. Katawa Shoujo was a bit similar to Portal in the sense that its popularity partially hinged on how it surprised everyone. Part of me feels that a sequel could never have the same impact.

I like the artstyle and the writing. I can't get in to any other VNs because I just can't get into the artstyle, it's just too anime. Katawa Shoujo was anime, but it wasn't too anime if you get what I'm saying. It was nice.
KS is like, the only anime thing I like barring PS&G
But they are making another VN, here are some very rough ideas they've thrown around:

I'm really feeling the top right one

Maybe not a sequel but some kind of fan-disk with some new routes for girls like Misha, Miki, etc. etc. I'd love to see something like that, but unfortunately they stated they aren't working on any sort of sequel or fan-disk in a forum post.
welp, 93% completion
i don't know if i can bring myself to get the bad endings
they're just so depressing

thought that was one of those insane widget series that was only funny to hardcore otaku

Rin's bad ending wasn't nearly as bad as her neutral ending.
Hell, I don't understand why it was even called a neutral ending.
It's made by Studio Gainax, PS&G is pretty much fucking insane. If you've ever heard of FLCL or Gurren Lagann, you know how fucking mental these shows are.

As someone in a relationship with someone with depression that has considered suicide before (and still does sometimes), Rins routes are full of nope and don't want for me
Speaking of Rin
got bored and made a (really) quick sketch

I messed up on the neck, chin and overall thickness of face.
On the up side, I didn't mess up the arms
HAHHHHHH

I really never caught any notions of depression or suicidal tendencies from Rin's arc though, just an air of going where the breeze takes you and feeling trapped within the confines of her mind, unable to share her thoughts with anyone in a coherent manner.
This Is Not a True Ending
What about 2013? Well, at the very least we hope to to go public with some new 4LS projects that have been in the concept/early development stage in 2012 (and before). There's been some pressure to do so, and I suppose at least for me personally, it's a solidifying thing too, plus I enjoy engaging with the public. Look forward to that. Depending on how things go this also could mean that we actually need to recruit some people in 4LS. And finally, don't be surprised if you see a new artbook coming from us this year too. That's the future foreseeable from here, but who knows what is going to happen this year. Let's hope it will be good and precious things only.

Hisao should have fallen out the window.
god damn, that misha face
2cute
I wish the dev team would've made the resource images bigger.
Making wallpapers out of anything below 1000x1000 is difficult.

First panel, hair is purple, eyes are a dark color (possibly blue or purple?).
Final panel, hair is brown, eyes are gray.
C'mon artists get your shit together.
But hey, at least the cow-lick is consistent.
Calling back to my previous post about wallpapers, I decided to scavange the game resources for anything that could be remotely made into a wallpaper. So I threw what I could into Photoshop and truly did my best to upscale it to 1920x1080 while keeping as much quality as possible.
I sorted by image size in explorer, so at least SOME of these should work out. I'm sorry if they don't all work out, though. Some of them came out hideously bad, but hey, I tried.

60 wallpapers.
Has scenes from every arc; Emi, Hanako, Lilly, Rin and Shizune as well as some with Kenji, Hisao and Akira. They're all PG, and neatly sorted "by arc" (although chance is I put at least a few of these in the wrong folders). Hardly any drills-Misha, though, because there's like no CG where she has them other than the sprites.
If there's any requests, just ask me. I can't guarantee the quality of the final products, though. :v:

Tried to trace bitmap in Flash.
Not a good idea.

You could just convert them into vectors theyre big enough really

I just take all my content from somewhere else, why do people always have to question the canon/validity/correctness of it? :v:

No really, it is what they based Hanako's appearance off of.

Nah, that stuff was ripped straight from the game. I was just pointing out more art inconsistencies. I heard in an interview the other day that the story writers worked closely together to make sure appearances of their characters in other arcs were consistent, shame the artists didn't follow suit. :v:
