I had no emotion till I read the last line
Which made me burst out laughing
However, in my lust to create a Grimdark kind of story, I lost the plot a little and made both the "Bad" route and the exit from that route into a "Good" route untenable. Also, it clashed drastically with the rest of the game. I think a lot of my drive came from a short story that I wrote on the old Invision boards, where Hanako uses a broken mirror to kill Rin, Hisao and herself.
There were a couple of attempts to save it; one involved the entire Hanako route being "Bad," - the only way to get a "Good" ending was to go through Lilly's route, which would then have a second Hanako path embedded into it.
Oh dear god, no. Also:
Lastly, the original "pregnancy" ending. That was a good end. Unintentional, but I thought that it was a nice way to complete the circle (Hanako losing her parents but becoming a mother herself).
Oh god, the pregnancy ending. So much potential hnnnng.
I don't think it's advisable for Rin to procreate.
Probably the most popular finnish gaming magazine surprised me today and actually reviewed this game. I'll write some key points. I also might forget to add some stuff.
The game stood out enough for the magazine to review it because "Instead of world saving heroes typical to gaming, characters are disabled people and the main character is someone who has to adapt to a whole new environment and mindset after a life changing heart attack sent him to a school for disabled people. There he has to learn to get comfortable with his new life situation, his identity and his fellow student's differences.
For the record, the reviewer is not a fan of anime in general "past Akira and Miyazaki".
Score? 72 out of 100.
Stuff that made the game lose points was its visual style and the melodramaticness eating away some of the credibility of the subject.
Reviewer in question admits the visual style is not a problem to some, but to him, it was a considerable flaw, as "It made me feel dirty that teenagers that mostly looked around 12 to 15 years old tried to convince me they were young adults." and that the style "weakened the message of the novel."
Fair enough to me.
Also, the fact that things "are explained thrice" really caused ire. Additionally, "Too much dawdling with text took place. Lilly's arc took 7 hours to complete while just half of it could have been just fine."
It got plus for avoiding falling in the same class with fanfiction in terms of writing and the writers of Lilly's and Hanako's arcs, for example, doing their very best to dig deeper than the surface and instead of focusing on the romance too much, the game focuses on individual character's own problems and their deconstruction more.
And "The characters everyday problems are refreshing even if the melodramaticness takes some of the credibility away."
Final judgement;
"Katawa Shoujo is a product that you have to forgive for a lot of things to enjoy it. The visual novel decipting lives of disabled people has it's heart in the right place, but it beats quite irregularly.
The problematic cross of a game and an interactive novel just partly manages to handle the difficult subject it decipts."
I just finished replaying almost every route for the second time, for now I'm completely done with Katawa Shoujo (unless it gets released on Android).
The last route was Lilly's. Can't tell if I've been depressed that much ever and I didn't almost feel any depression on the first playthrough.

Yeah, the magazine is great for it's ability to make that kind of comments in both ways. Always gets a chuckle out of me.
For example, in the MW3 review, one of the subarticle's name was
"The price of soap"

Willing to bet it was a joke. He brought the MC's problems up a few times so he at least knows what's going on.
It was really surprising to see a gaming magazine review a VN though.

I can certainly agree with this. Makes the reviews and articles much more fun to read.
Read the magazine today myself. Thought it was a fair review.

I went to that restaurant and got raped, never going there again.
Somebody make a joke about the restaurant serving bacon.
i heard that restaurant sold bacon
Freshly sliced, too.
The waiters must have been blind. I had my waitress walk past me three times.

They did that to me, so I cut off their limbs as payment for my time

I wouldn't go there, the bacon gave me a Heart attack.
