Darkspore Beta on Steam now! - Games

Pretty fun, not gonna lie. Maybe for $30-35 at the maximum for me though. I'll play out the Beta and keep an eye on it.

I spoted livestream on JTV #baiten. [url]http://www.justin.tv/baiten[/url] game looks like mix of 10% spore and 90% fun.

Another sucky game by Electronic Arts. Unskippable cutscenes/intros, focused on graphics. Crashed the first time I used even.

Gameplay is slow and repetitive, editing your creatures is very lackluster, I wouldn't even pirate it.

its not the spore creature editor at all, you can collect mis-matched looking loot which you're forced to use because of the randomly generated stats they have so your hero doesn't get one shotted in the next level, i saw some massive lava/rock type tank guy wearing what looked to be wings - for the stats the basics of the editing your hero consist on changing the detail of the skin feature that they have, so no this is nowhere near as good as the original spore's editor and the missions comprimise of run through the mission (with or without extra 3 players) hammering mouse 1 through the whole level - horde event for which you hammer mouse 1 and *might* have to use your action - mission over. disapointment all around...

You threw a million stupid wings and shit on your creature so you could survive. I had ilke 100 premade creatures from the Creature Creator ready to go, and I couldn't use them because they were impractical ingame.

And the addition of PvP makes it not overpriced?

EA was done raping The Sims of all that was good and decided to move onto Spore.

The creation system ain't really that impressive. It's nothing like Spore; it's more akin to changing Niko's clothes in GTA IV. Although, one of the guys I played with gave the fire hero boobs and teeny feet. It looked hilarious.

I've played like, 3 hours of it, it's quite fun and I like it quite a bit. Dunno if i'd drop the 50$ they're asking for it, but it's a powerful diablo clone. I played it. Pretty fun and the price isn't so bad if you use the 4-pack deal.

Yeah if you want to play it with friends, otherwise it's a huge waste of money.

Lots of potential, but unfortunately wasted. The idea of a spore-style creation of monsters to fight in space is amazing. But no, they only allow you to edit the small details, and considering their hero designs are generic and terrible, its a real downer. Disappointing, but I pass.

For people who think you are forced to make your hero look like shit: [b]If you go to inventory you can select any non-hand, non-feet, non-weapon objects and remove their stats from them, allowing you to use these now statless items on any hero. I played through the first campaign mission, have three hero's and quite a few upgrades (mainly for hero types I haven't unlocked), and admittedly I'm enjoying myself. However I don't think I'll buy it yet, maybe wait for it to drop in price in a Steam sale... And anyway, gotta save my monies for Portal 2 and Brink!

I agree with your point but It can be abused real bad.

I really want to like this, but I can't. It's just not... deep enough. Same thing happened with the original Spore. It was such a cool concept, but... I don't know, it just never feels fun. In addition, why can't we use our creations from Spore proper? I had a really cool Cthulu-style space man (Captain Cthulli) that I wanted to use in this.
