Route to City 17 ought to be the theme. I truly hope it works its way into Episode 3 as either the intro or the credits. It's one of my favorite pieces of music, not just my favorite from the HL-series soundtrack.
It's not official, it's fan-made. All of the "beta music" is fan-made.
I like how some of the track titles are sly references to things mentioned in the game like Calabi-Yau Model and LG Orbifold. I like playing the game and hearing something I didn't hear before and realising "so that's why the track is called that!"
I agree with you in " Tracking Device, But the ending of the whole series is probably gonna be some huge epic shit, You cant have some really quiet music playing, it has to be something really awesome
Uh what, Tracking Device is a punchy techno song.
And in this thread I proposed that a new version of it should be the credits theme for Episode Three.
P.S. Nuclear Mission Jam is a way better name than Something Secret Steers Us.
Yes, Half Life 1's theme song was the Valve intro for TF2, HL2DM, etc.
HL2's is unknown to me.
Well, for a fan remix, Path of Borealis captures Half Life brilliantly.
I agree
Listening to Vortal Combat right now, and it makes me want to replay Ep2 a lot.
The scene where Vortal Combat plays is my favourite scene in Half-Life. It's in the antlion tunnel turret defence section, after the vortigaunts arrive. It's so awesome to just sit back and watch the vorts kick some serious fucking ass.
I agree, Vortal Combat is one of the best Episodic ones, along with What Kind of Hospital is This, Hunting Party and Self Destruction.
But I'd have to say that Guard Down was one of the best as a 'Theme' for the series.
I like those songs, but Does it really have anything to do with half life 2 besides combat? Songs like Triage at Dawn " actually seem to tell a story as the music plays, its sad, and fits perfectly, Not just shoot them up " all the time.

When do you hear that in game?
When do you hear that in game?
I know that it plays in a tunnel somewhere in Opposing Force and the intro for Episode 2.
According to some guy on YouTube, it also plays when you get the Tau cannon in HL1 and at Lighthouse Point in HL2.
I think "Last legs" oughta be the theme. That or Tracking Device.

I still think Tau 9 is the best one :colbert:
When do you hear that in game?
In HL1 (under the title Nuclear Mission Jam) it plays at the start of Apprehension.
In HL2 (under the title Something Secret Steers Us) it plays when the Combine land at Lighthouse Point.
P.S. Nuclear Mission Jam is a way better name than Something Secret Steers Us.
It's definitely cooler, but at the same time 'Something Secret Steers Us' is pretty accurate to the game, what with our good friend the G-Man and all.

The entire beta soundtrack was amazing but what I really want is a completed version of the Main menu theme. The start of it sounded so fucking amazing! I really want the full version bad :c
[editline]10:23PM[/editline]
I consider that as the theme for EP2.

Path of Borealis/Route to City 17 and and every single "beta/leak" soundtrack are community content. The person in charged of it was slapping Viktor Antonov's name on it "for the lulz".
Uhh why are they in my sound folder for HL2 beta? Its been untouched since april 2003
You really think that's official?
Thought it was until butthurter told me otherwise :c My dreams have been shattered.
Butthurter made him butthurt.

Not really, he just made me realize the leak was a lie.
Not really, he just made me realize the leak was a lie.
Leak is real. The "leak music" is false.
I always associated it with this song because it's the one that plays in the 360 version Orange Box main menu.
Can you guys imagine this music playing at the beginning of the game while your flying in the helicopter with alyx, overviewing mountains and snow tundras as your on your way to the borealis, and shes all sad and shit from the death of her father, Flying over and passing deserted Villages destroyed by the combine, seeing the beautiful landscapes , This would be awesome man, Really bring the epicness into the last episode.

I preferred that song when you were alone, above huge, unimaginable gap before you. It was on earth, but it was outlandish. It was measured thousands of times by others, and yet it was endless. It's height overshadowing the unknown beyond it.
And then the fucking HECUs start shooting and a fucking APACHE swoops in.
This song can be conclusively proven (through hours of meticulous research) to be the theme song to all HL games.

Not really, but it fits perfectly.
On the HL2 Soundtrack, this has to be my favorite song and I would make it the theme, but I can't find a title for it.

That's "You're Not Supposed To Be Here."
Danke schön.
Half-Life doesn't have a definite theme, it has its own style of music.
L4D is about the same in the way it uses a recurring tune, and no actual theme.
TF2 has a theme because it's supposed to be simple.
This is the best song:

This is the worst song and I do not understand the hype about it also people say it wasn't in the game but it was:

And this is without a doubt the theme-song:

Sounds like a keygen song.
Path of Borealis is a remix of Triage at Dawn and a music from Doom. Triage at Dawn was short and plays only when one of the rebels died at the end of Ravenholm.
Except he didn't die, he just laid there wriggling.
