You can get string-like stuff from killing mobs, that might be in TNT.

You get gunpowder from one type, feather from one type, and rope from another, I've figured.

I've tried everything to try and get bow but can't come up with the pattern

Mined out an entire iron vein, so far I made 34 solid blocks of it. I reckon I can make another 25. Edit: Was 2 blocks off, and now have a total of 57 iron blocks with 8 ingots left.
