Well, indev is fucking terrifying now. Accidentally uncovering a cave means that enemies might start pouring out of it. You can use torches to stop them from spawning... but you need to mine coal in order to make torches. I was just mining coal when a skeleton snuck up behind me and nearly killed me before I got my sword out and killed him. Worse still, I was trapped inside a long, thin coal vein with only one way out and I could hear another skeleton nearby. I dug upwards randomly and managed to hit another cave that was attached to my original tunnel. I immediately returned to the surface and walled up my excavation. Fuck that. I have decided that flat maps are the hardest. Finding resources is far more difficult without exposed cliffs so you're forced to mine into the earth. Until you find coal, there's no way to stop yourself from getting raped by enemies unless you use direct sunlight to illuminate your tunnels.

Indev sounds like a lot of fun :(

Survival was intended to be harsh. I never liked it as much as creative anyway. I want indev creative.

The thing that most people aren't seeing with the difficulty is that Survival Mode isn't really a singleplayer thing. I mean he [I]is[/i] going to add multiplayer. There's strength in numbers. Aw, Dock's no longer working on Minecraft. That was a rather abrupt ending to their partnership. I liked Dock's character concept art too, and his previous work was stellar.

I'm glad he's gone, no more japanese school girls in frog suits. Hopefully.
