Why the shit won't the water go into my irrigation ditches? I have my water source connected to the ocean, but it just won't fill it in!! I think Notch screwed it up when he made it so that water makes waterfalls.
Once that lava stream runs to the far ends of the map and back, you're gonna see some serious shit.
7 hours since he posted this with no follow-up pic. i guess his computer crashed
No, the dropped resources just lagged so much that 1FPS. And I could see outside the world through the hole for about thirty seconds, thanks to occlusion queries.
So no pic?
Notch really needs to fix the way water flows/fills.
NBT Forge, give yourself an infinite water source, but on a different layer than the farm blocks so that it doesn't crash when it encounters the seeds.

I'm a MC puritan, only use random generated maps. No help from any other program :clint: [editline]09:35PM[/editline] I give you... Anyone else getting horrible fps on the latest /indev/ update?
Anyone else getting horrible fps on the latest /indev/ update?
apparently its some kind of water issue, im getting good fps though

Build your irrigation channels and then hoe everything. That should work.

Notch definitely needs to fix flowing water. If you remove one dirt block at the bottom of the lake, the ENTIRE lake will eventually lose a level of water off the top.
I once BUILT a single block of dirt and a layer of water vanished. Which was particularly aggravating since I was making an underwater greenhouse. And I couldn't just fill it up by knocking a wall out because it just makes it a waterfall and nothing happens. I had it planned so that it would have looked like this:
G G G G G G G G G G G G G G G D D D D D D D D D D D D G G D W D D W D D W D D W D G G D D D D D D D D D D D D G G D D D D D D D D D D D D G G D W D D W D D W D D W D G G D D D D D D D D D D D D G G D D D D D D D D D D D D G G D W D D W D D W D D W D G G D D D D D D D D D D D D G G D D D D D D D D D D D D G G D W D D W D D W D D W D G G D D D D D D D D D D D D G G G G G G G G G G G G G G G
Where G = Glass, D = Dirt, W = Water. The top layer was a glass roof, then a glass border, then this layer, and the ocean below. I'd enter from beneath it to plant and harvest it. At least hypothetically. :argh: The things you do to stop mobs trampling your crops...
Notch definitely needs to fix flowing water. If you remove one dirt block at the bottom of the lake, the ENTIRE lake will eventually lose a level of water off the top.
I think it's random. When you remove one block at the bottom of the lake, one block gets removed at the top. It would look weird just leaving a gap in the water so there's a random chance of more water being created to fill the gap or of more water evaporating to level out the surface. Of course as water evaporates it becomes less and less likely that the gap will get filled in so if that first water blocks fails the rest usually does as well. But if you think about it there's not much Notch can do about it aside from leaving the water uneven (which would be even weirder, I think). And any system for determining which method would "make more sense" would probably be too CPU intensive to be viable.
Yeah, the water physics are bound to end up being strange since all the blocks are the same size. [editline]07:14AM[/editline] Also, seaweed anyone?
I think finite water is kind of iffy. I mean, if you have it like this:
W W W G G G
and you remove the ground block below the water, it goes
W W G G W
which wouldn't be how water works in real life. I mean sure it's a game, but I guess I never really noticed it before.
Water needs to be a half block.
Water needs to have a dynamic height. Or half height or something.
Should I get this? I've already played it alot, so it's a good possibility I will today.
Should I get this? I've already played it alot, so it's a good possibility I will today.
Yes.
Needs less OP blocks blocking the spawn so i can't actually play, it would be nice if someone could delete them for once so non ops can play...
Needs less OP blocks blocking the spawn so i can't actually play, it would be nice if someone could delete them for once so non ops can play...
My server doesn't need a spawnjail :smug:
Notch needs to make water half-blocks.
I've been doing some experiments. It seems that tool durability roughly doubles with each improvement of material. Durability affects how many blocks a tool can destroy before breaking. There doesn't appear to be any random factor though I haven't check to see if some blocks hurt durability more than others. Wood & Gold - 33 blocks Stone - 65 blocks Steel - 129 blocks Diamond - 257 blocks Edit: Yep, gold sucks. It has the exact same durability and speed as wood. Edit2: And diamond is awesome
According to my friend, gold is shittier than steel. [editline]07:05PM[/editline] Haven't tried out personally. Gold is harder to dig than Steel, that I know.
According to my friend, gold is shittier than steel. [editline]07:05PM[/editline] Haven't tried out personally. Gold is harder to dig than Steel, that I know.
Gold is worst than steel, and gold is easier to dig than steel. Gold pickaxes can't mine steel.
Easier to dig than steel? It took me ages to dig it out compared to steel. Was using a stone pick, by the way.
DiscoInferno is being a dick on your server
This wasn't posted yet, was it? http://www.formspring.me/Notch He's been answering tons of random questions there. It seems you can't ask questions anymore without registering at that site. Also, what the fuck:
Q: Well, Notch, look what your response to the Infiniminer question achieved: http://img707.imageshack.us/img707/478/8x8hotteenslutnsfwnsfw.png Are you proud of yourself?
