My friend is getting the server up for the goliath playtest right now. If you see it in the list, come on in.
Anyone up for classic natural selection? It would probably be easier to set up than an ns2 server.
I'm not sure if this is the correct place for this, but I'd be willing to give someone $10 in cash, or even easier would be purchasing a $10 steam game, for their extra copy of NS2.
i don't understand
who would trade a $24.99 game for $10?
that trade doesn't make much sense...

Because some people are nice enough to sell it for cheap but not nice enough to give it away

ask again when we actually get the extra copy
Is there any kind of tutorial? I played NS1 against some really bad bots once, but I never learned anything. I'd rather get a little quick rundown than go in blind.

Grab your team resource points and deny the enemy team of them. When possible, secure tech points. Map control is your friend. Always choose resources over tech, otherwise your team will never be able to support the fancier abilities.

Click "Training" and it will show a list of community made videos.

And with that, the Goliath map test is now over. Thanks to whoever attended. For those who missed it, or would like to attend future map tests, I have made a steam group which I will provide announcements on future tests, and map changes.
The group is here: http://steamcommunity.com/groups/GoliathMapTest

You most certainly won't be able to get all $25 dollars for a copy you got for free.
I don't know how many hours I spent playing NS1. God some of the community projects behind it were outstanding! (siege, MvM, etc.) Absolutely fantastic. I can't wait to see what comes out of this one!
so how is the balance in this game? I ask cause I've noticed most HL1 and HL2 mods or full games of mods are imbalanced as fuck, and then die off prematurely
http://ns2stats.org/ Bottom right corner. They are working on the balance constantly.
Pretty sure marines are going to become better when it gets more optimized.

The HL1 version of NS was good, but like TFC, the community consisted of bunny hoppers and shit, which pretty much destroyed any element of fun for me.

I dont remember any bunny hoppers in ns1. Must of been the servers you were on.

bhopping was actually a pretty prime technique for aliens. You had some pretty fast onos' back in the day :v:.
NS2 actually has Quake-style strafe jumping along with wall jumping which works in a somewhat similar fashion to classic bhop. While not the same it IS there for those who may want to use it:

Obviously this doesn't work with onos' which is one improvement made:rolleyes:.
Just played this again after a long break and oh man the performance has gotten even worse than what it was 20~ builds ago. They really need to change the recommended spec on the steam page, right now they are flat out lying. I'm well over the recommended spec and the game still drops to about ~5 fps in the bigger fights with a couple of exos around.
Is it just me or can noone else pick up any servers in the server browser? It just says "Refreshing..."

Performance has definitely improved from the last builds. 20 builds ago you couldn't even get 16 people in a server without it dying. Now we can have ~24 with a very stable game. Not to mention we still have until October before the game comes out and everybody in the community expects it to be October 31st ( in order to match up with the 10 year anniversary of the release of NS1. )
Cory actually made a post addessing 1.0 concerns just 40 minutes ago.
Of course we are working towards getting a version of the game done for 1.0 that feels very complete and fun and balanced. However we plan on adding many more features and improvements, some large and some small, to keep making the game better and deeper after release. We already have a list of items that have been cut in order to get the game done for October (Babblers is one example but there are many many more) and we very much plan on getting those into the game.
So, basically version 1.0 is not the end, merely the beginning, and we plan on updating and supporting and improving NS2 for a very long time after release.

I'm sure it is safe to assume game performance is included with that.
Any news on the extra NS2 copies we are supposed to be given?
Its just a theory, but maybe they are holding them back because if they were gifted before release they would become the Digital Deluxe edition automatically.
Or maybe they're just having some communication issues with Valve, even if that's not very likely.
Either way, I do believe they will give us the copies on the release day.
UWE already said that it's supposed to happen this week. Apparently they are just waiting for Valve now.
The new arms lab looks really good. I actually thought the model was final

[sp]I didn't know we had a NS2 thread. Wheee[/sp]
-> Does anyone know if I can pick up my "Free NS2" copy if I bought it ages ago with: http://www.wolfire.com/pack

Have you played the NS2 beta yet? If so it is probably tied to that account.
And the old Arms Lab model is just a squished Armory if you look closely enough.
Wasn't NS2 $35? Now it's $25.
God I can't wait for it. A multiplayer only game for PC which isn't free-to-play, I feel so blessed!
Im not sure about the recent patch involving the onos. Still kinda feels like he's made of Papier-mâché
Considering I used to take Exos on 1v1 as Onos before, this new patch made it a lot easier. I can even take one on if I don't have Carapace. But if I need the beef, I'll pull out the extra Armor as that can really break the ranks when a bunch of the Exos are around the corner.
