Good news all around. I got my mod working on steam workshop. I also tuned the range and brightness to be a lot less insane. Rooms now have a massive amount of character. Who knew a couple lines of lua, and a couple days of hair pulling frustration (I can't code) could yield such a cool result.

EDIT: Please note that right now it appears that you need a server to have/allow the mod before you can use it (not entirely clientside), and I don't know if I can make it clientside. It is also still private, but if you guys want it badly enough, I suppose I could change the visibility.
I feel like it takes away alot from the game if areas don't go dark and emergency lights turn on.
I am trying to figure out how to disable emergency lights entirely. What I want the mod to accomplish is to have pitch black rooms, but will then brighten once the alien infests it over. From there, in alien infested rooms, they will effectively change the climate of the room, making it much hotter and humid. I want to eventually add dynamic fog control settings for when it really gets humid, and eventually once a threshold is reached, then when marines enter the room and are there for a couple seconds, little water droplets will appear all over their armor/weapons.

Why not make a complete light mod then.
So are the rumors mostly true that it'll be out Oct. 30? I'd like to pre order but I like to keep at least $100 around and I'm already dipped below that.

The days are counting down...
The performance on this build has never been better. Game-play actually even feels silky-smooth a lot of the time. I'm hoping they really buckle down and work some magic so the game runs smoothly even during late-game.
What were the reasons not to allow newer pre-orderers into the beta?

Possibly post release, but devs are undecided.
I thought that marine commanders could lock doors, did they remove that in a previous build?
It broke and I don't know if they'll have time to fix it before 1.0. Release is 12 days away.
A few days ago they had a live Q&A with the devs. They said they didn't have enough time to try adding locking/welding doors, but that it will probably be worked on after 1.0.

Beta builds, and one assfuck marine would always lock a vital door to the marine game and fuck up their strategy. It was temporarily removed until they figure out a way to keep dumb fucks from screwing a game up.
