Anyone happen to have a fix for the pre-caching crash?
I'm stuck waiting for an update to fix it, I can't join any servers without crashing.
they say it'll be fixed next patch, which is soon (atleast thats what the ingame twitter thing said))
Really hope they will improve the performance further. It is unplayable for me once several buildings start to get placed. I don't see how i can max out Battlefield 3 and Crysis 2, but run this so terribly even on lowest settings.
during the beta I could barely even join a server and play at all, due to how demanding it was, but now I can get a nice 50ish fps during most of the game. ((I cant run battelfield or crysis maxxed out at all)) so I think its probably an issue with some specific thing
Well, I could play on medium-high (1920x1080) on my old PC:
Intel Duo e8400 (OC to 3,4 ghz from 3,0)
GTX 260
4 GB of DDR2 800 mhz ram
I was around 20-50 fps most of the time during build ~200.
Now, I've got new one, Im maxing it out on this:
GTX 670
i5 2500k (default, no oc yet)
8 gb of ddr3 1333 mhz ram
It's running at 60-105 fps. Well, AO (Ambient Occlusion) is set to medium, it saves me around 10 to 20 fps in long run with very minimal impact on display. (vsync is off ofcourse). The performance hasn't really changed for me since build ~215 (this is when I had new PC).
Just won a match in the first 5 minutes with a skulk rush on their base (destroying their infantry portal first), while we had no commander.

There is no balance problems, only rookies raging.
Currently i stopped playing comm, it often is like playing starcraft only that your units can't aim and die constantly.
I love the background images in the deluxe edition.
This one's my favourite and that Im using.

I love how quickly these guys put out patches
is there any documentation at all for modding?
I HAD ONE BAD GAME, THEREFOR THIS GAME IS BAD. I AM SO ANGRY RIGHT NOW. AHHHHH
Just because you had a shit team on one game doesnt mean the game is bad you muppet.
that was my third game in a row, and i expected people who played natural selection 1 to become more professional at natural selection 2... but sadly i am proven wrong because everyone that i know got shit for brains and think they really are high and mighty.
I wasn't being a dick? I was just voicing my opinion, because it's a pretty slim fuckin' chance your friend is going to find someone willing to dish out $24 on NS2 when they can use that $24 to get gold more safely and more quickly to their preferred server. But whatever man.
I don't understand why you're getting your panties in a twist. I thought I'd be doing your friend a favour by not letting his hopes get the better of him. But hey, best of luck to him like I've said before. He's supposedly sold his WoW gold in the past to get by, so I'm sure he won't have difficulty this time.

Good job uninstalling, buddy. You've done everyone who plays this game a favour! People play this game to have fun, they're not enlisting into a Nazi regime where you issue orders and they are followed to a tee. Lighten up a bit, your post is reminding me of that German Rage Kid.
I want to play this game for fun too, but sadly people ruin that fun when they start becoming idiots, like what your doing right now. I want people to follow the order so we can win the game and have fun while doing so, but people want to shit out their brains instead and end up like you.

i expected people from NS1 to came by and know what they are doing then getting killed easily and wasting resources.
Man, I LOVE the map editor for the Spark Engine.
Currently working on recreating a very popular community Combat map from NS1.

and the 2.4% difference is probably from the fact that new players want to play as humans first

What the fuck? Do you seriously think that everyone who plays this is from NS1?
Most anyone that was good at NS1 has had NS2 since beta, and are the reason it's as balanced as it is and know everything they need to to do good.
My god this game is damn amazing with friends, so much fun and beautiful to look at.
Nothing beats a bunch of you running round a corner to come face to face with an onos, running away whilst screaming like little girls. :v:
Fuck Onos.

The art book was very intresting. Appearently the Kharaa are animalistic beings mutated by the Infestation. Looks like the Infestation is a living being aswell in a sence.

The "aliens" are pretty much beings assimilated into the kharaa, refined and strengthened.
Just got done playing a few hours of NS2, was very fun, brought back memories of NS1

Yeah this tool is very nice. I used to screw around with it a few years back when they released it. Really simple to use but it will take some time to create a full map. If no one decides to make the classic Siege maps, I might just jump on it!
[sp]they seem simple enough for me to do[/sp]

Can you download mods/maps from servers? Or must it be through the workshop/internet?

I have no idea about mods, but you do download maps.

Tempted to take a section from Systemshock 2 and turn it into a map. It seems almost too good to pass up. But I dont know what part to take inspiration from.
It is interesting being a guy from a beta, playing this game with the majority of people being new guys.
Sure, it can be fairly frustrating when you are the only one on the team with a positive score, doing everything in your power to get you guys to win, but just cannot, but then there is the other side of the coin.
Because I was in the beta, and I have a different color armor from everyone else, it is almost as though I have an authority over my fellow marines. I walk around talking on voice telling people to watch out, and they follow me around and stick with me. I say "lets move up" and we move up. An Onos comes bounding around the corner, I yell out "RUN FOR IT HOLY SHIT" and everyone fucking legs it.
They look to me, and I provide them with direction. I know the field, I know the enemy, I know how to survive. I am a veteran.
The skulks also like to rush my companions instead of me, which makes it fairly easy for me to protect my buddies. When that happens, our squad lasts, I weld my buddies, the commander drops us supplies, and we go on our way. Me and my brothers in arms. Victory (or horrible death), just around the corner.
It definitely is interesting. I had like 30 kills and 4 deaths my last game on refinery, there was a decent amount of beta people though, but it was funny attacking the hive as the only beta guy, and all the rookies just get mauled by the skulks and I take them all out and dodge them with a level 0 LMG because they don't know how to utilize skulks yet.
Game runs like ass, takes forever to load and stutters CONSTANTLY when moving around the map.
And it was in beta for how long again?

It only stutters the first game as it renders everything.
Then the rest of the game and all other games afterwards run perfectly fine.

You think they'd maybe design it to do that before you're actually trying to play the game.
