And then 10 minutes later you have high-powered shotguns, jetpacks, and upgraded armor and Skulks don't even pose the slightest challenge anymore.
except i'm a complete scrub when it comes to flying and accidentally boost right into an onos
Damn disabling camera animations makes it so much easier to aim, all those dead skulks. This is without a doubt my favorite shooter this year.
Fucking teleports man. I go through one and 3 onos are thrashing around in my face. I have never hit the S key so hard. No idea how we managed to win that game. They had so many Onos, and we didn't even have Exos.
I wonder why there is hardly any reviews out for this game. It doesn't get any media coverage.
Guys, hey guys. I'm planning to buy this game and I'm asking if you could give me the good parts of this game, and if it's worth 23 euros. Also, how'd the game run on these specs? CPU: AMD Athlon II X3 445 Rana 45nm Technology Graphics Card: GeForce GTS 450 3gigs of RAM.

Don't know much about the GTS 450 I'm afraid. Has anyone gotten a crash in game where your screen would become sort of textured and your system completely locks up, but you still get sound? This happened in Batman Arkham City and I fixed it by forcing DX9. I thought Texture streaming caused it in NS2 but it seems not.
There are no bullet impact decals.
I miss the sound and feel of the weapons in NS1. [editline]3rd November 2012[/editline] This game seems a little too...stiff or clunky.

am i really supposed to get like 5-6 FPS in the menu and even less ingame??
Doing a livestream http://sv.twitch.tv/libilan
like for real this FPS shit is dumb
like for real this FPS shit is dumb
It needs a really good PC, i have an i5 2500 and a ATI HD 5770 and i can barely run it on lowest graphics
snip [editline]3rd November 2012[/editline] game runs great for me on i7 920, GTX 470, 12GB DDR3
After playing this for an hour I've pretty much experienced everything there is to do. Time to study and perfect the METAgame and hope that people go commander or else you lose. lolno
The marines are too comfy, too easily, especially in late game. The way the commander can assist combat heavily by dropping medkits & ammo even on infestation is bullshit, I don't know why they kept this from the 1st. Dual minigun exosuits usually signs your victory if you're marine, unless you're so blind you can't shoot a hive in a corridor. Every weapons are essentially fast firing sniper rifles, jetpack makes you immunie to essentially everything short of a great lerk player (and there isn't exactly a lot of them around). It really seems like they've worked on marines way more than aliens, for some reasons you have to press tab to see your team ressource as aliens, you don't have a minimap, the hive (which essentially controls the aliens) isn't even capable of giving orders, the only thing you can do to help is place a puny bone wall that gets cut down easily, or meaningless, futile & clunky cyst exploding or making your buildings heal slightly more for a small window of time.. I love the game, but there are some glaring issues when you compare marines to khaara. But at least...
It really seems like they've worked on marines way more than aliens
aliens had a number of changes during the beta but to say marines had more work done on them makes me laugh
Aliens not having a minimap was a design decision.
wait nvm apparently i only had to restart my computer now its flowing really well
I'm hoping for some optimizations, it runs acceptably, but I think it can be better. Everything's turned down that affects the FPS.
the exos are fine, their only good advantage is the insane dps, apart from that they die easily and are so immobile what bothers me the most is the insane scaling marines get on one base and the way fades are terrible compared to ns1, it makes closing games require more coordination than it should
Bragdas, I assure you the presence of an Exosuit does not ensure victory. It sure helps, but they still need good players to be an asset. One of the strategies I like to use as the alien commander is to drop a spike wall behind the Exosuit so he is isolated, and then rush him with skulks. Other times when I am a Lerk or Fade, I like to kill the marine with the welder when he is behind the suit (basically removing his medic and support), and then the Exo is alone and open season for the rest of my team. Ammo and Medkits are honestly really nice to have when moved far up. Marines don't have a definitive "medic" class, so the commander will have to suit the bill. You also need to remember that Meds and Ammo cost money, and I have lost matches as Marine Commander because I have supported my soldiers almost too effectively. When you send a lot of meds, you don't have the money to spend for better upgrades, and you begin to fail late game. As for other missing bits, UWE said they are going to continue development on this game for a long while after release. There are loads of new things they wanted to put in, but couldn't, as well as game functions too. Bullet Decals, Proper refraction transparency (would be used for cloaking + water), The Spider (T3 Web for Gorge to deal with Jetpacks), Babblers (swarmers that pours out of mature crags), Proper 3D Infestation, Color Grading, and many more. This is what the cloak was intended to look like. Kind of like if you have ever played "The Hidden: Source", or seen the "predator" skin in Gmod, this is what I am talking about. A lot of the models were even designed for transparency, but they never managed to get around to it because of the development time. The Eggs, Spur, Veil, Drifters, and especially the Shade were supposed to be see through.
How are people making those NS2 mods, I just want to make a quick sound replacement mod. How would I go about doing that
How are people making those NS2 mods, I just want to make a quick sound replacement mod. How would I go about doing that
Make a mod in launchpad, in the folder you create for the mod (should contain .publish or similar), make a folder named sound. Put the modified sound files there (Will have to figure out the format though) I do not guarantee this will work at all, but best of luck. (To launch the game with the mod add -game soundmodfolder to a game shortcut or something, or use -game "C:\mods\soundmodfolder" to be more precises in your location of your mod)
Just for comparisons sake, I've a Phenom X4 II 955 @ 3.2GHz, 7950 3GB, 8GB of RAM and it runs pretty well at 1920x1200 max. FPS will average around 40-50 and drop further when shit hits the fan mid-end game. While it could run better, I'm pretty happy. Just wish load times were better. Graphically its a nice game but the shadows don't look very nice.
Marines allready can see moving cloaked enemys who are slightly whiteish but hard to see, they are only completly invisible when standing still.
Yes but they aren't camouflaged. I think the idea is for the aliens to be always possible to see, but with the refraction will be so subtle that if they don't move, you won't notice it.
