The exosuits aren't gonna die because they're separated from their welders for 20 seconds (if there isn't a phase gate.. why did they remove hive teleports again?) If you send enough aliens to do serious damage to their main base, then your defense won't punch through, if you send too few aliens, then the marines who are called back won't be gone for even 30 seconds, even without a phase gate, the exosuits will hold the ground all the time.
If you seriously believe this then you have never played with a competent alien team
Either teams can be OP, it depends on the players and more specifically the commanders.
I dunno man, even when the aliens are winning or not, I just seem to die, wait 1 minute then die again.
Probably just means i'm crap, so eh
I find the aliens more fun to play with. Nothing beats hiding in some corner, scaring the shit out of a marine when you're a fade.
Just played my first round as Commander of Marines, it was amazing. I didn't know what to do but the team used voice chat and had the patience to help me a long. Great victory for us. RTS menu feels less polished.
On the topic of balance, so far I've found it to be more about the team and how they communicate. If no one is communicating you will be very lucky to win.

It can't be said often enough. Stay off the fucking floor. And jump from wall to wall in hallways. Allways jump. Don't circle around marines. Bite, jump at wall, jump at marine, bite, repeat.
Every time you see a skulk running on the floor a gorge dies.
Edit: This is basicly what every mildly skilled player will tell you, but once you start to properly implement it in your playstyle you get alot better.
Gorge is the best. Spit for great damage, heal friendlies, build comm structures, belly slide, then get Bile Bomb and transition from dedicated support into mobile artillery.
You should receive points for healing friendly's and buildings as a gorge/with a welder.
In my opinion, if you take an onos, exosuit, a marine, and a skult all with no upgrades whatsoever.
A skilled skult can take on an exosuit but a skilled marine can't take out an onos.

This is true, since the Exo got low health and alot of DPS , Onos is like a Tank with some good damage. This is also the reason why exos can lose pub games when exos don't get repairs and wander of alone.

Hard fight with no celerity or carapace.
I don't think the marines are OP. Aliens are just a very different playstyle.
I just started playing the game, but I think that the marines seem op because skills from other fps games are easily carried over. This isn't the case with the aliens. I know I'm a shitton better at marines than aliens.
that feel when your server browser shows nothing
Actually aching to play this game. The wait is killing me, the 7th will be when I order a laptop that can play this, then it'll take around 5 business days for the laptop to get here. Bahhhh.
Been watching gameplay videos nonstop.

I can definitely see myself playing a majority of my matches as the Lerk or Gorge.

Lerk is a lot of fun. The hit and run style with bite is so effective against groups of marines, especially when there is a blind spot to keep them guessing when you are going to come at them again. And if someone has a shotgun out, you just fly to the other side of the room and needle them to death as they try to spit at you.

Not helping :(
Is it me or?
No matter how good your alien team/commander might be
For some odd reason
If the marine team has Dual exo's and nade launchers plus flame throwers
Aliens will never win
Just putting that out there
Also I'm pretty decent at Lerk but I kinda made a few tips for myself to remember while playing it might help you guys out as well
First always always remember this rule
Your a Lerk
Your not supposed to be a fighting unit like the Skulk but more of a Support Unit for your Team while they fight
For example
If you have spikes go fly off into a vent somewhere and find a power node/ Resource tower and shoot away at it until it is destoryed or until a marine comes to check it out but if a marine comes fire at the marine until they are warded off by your spikes and contine your aggression
Always always harass with the Lerk and I mean you have to be The most fucking annoying alien on the team Yes I mean fly up to the ceiling in many rooms and hit marines with your spikes as they pass by to distract them
Most will either request ammo/health or some will back off and go back to base to get to an armory
If you have a bunch of your skulks buddies fighting a large pack of marines quickly fly around the marines in a circle about 2-3 times while using the Umbra ability "The choking green gas"
It'll slowly chip away at their health while they are fighting and most of the times it'll obscure their vison
And remember a Lerk is 30 Res so make sure not to morph into a Lerk only to die 15 seconds later
A good tradeoff for me is sniping a Resource Tower or 2 or taking out as many power nodes or even sniping Sentry Batteries so when you die atleast you die knowing that you force the commander to spend even more resources replacing those Defensive Structures

maybe you're just playing with really shitty teams.
In all my times of playing NS2, i just realized gorges with celerity are fucking fast as shit...me and some guy pretty much took out a team of 4 by healing and spitting at them jumping in circles fast as shit.
Dual exos with grenade launchers and repairs supporting them is just as "unstoppable" as a group of onos with gorges and a lerk/fade flying through harassing.

And if you're really having trouble taking out a group of Exos with welders and such, have a group of aliens attack one of their main bases to make them beacon, and the rest of the aliens to deal with the lone exos.
Sometimes it can take just one skulk to make the marines beacon to an area.
Can't even join a damn game, timed out as soon as the map loads

Last match our team had 6 exos and we got fucking wrecked.
Last match our team had 6 exos and we got fucking wrecked.
Had a game where we were steam rolling in exos and while we were away from our main aliens charged in and destroyed our power core so infantry couldn't respawn. Should have seen it coming but damned if it wasn't hilarious.
Why does everyone think Exos are unstoppable? They're really not.
If there is anything that is overpowered in publics it is the fade, and even he goes down to a good marine with a shotgun.
Lets not forget exos can quickly lose games if not used properly, a team equipped with jetpacks and grenade launchers rushing into a hive is like instant win.
The problem with it in NS2 is that there is a lot of pipes and stuff on the ceilings and walls. Your view would go around like crazy.
There was that in the avp games too, you got used to it.
I've watched so many gameplay vids that I could hop in this game right now and kick ass at it. Jesus, I can't wait.
I don't think the marines are OP. Aliens are just a very different playstyle.
but the skulk can respawn really quickly and I think if he's good enough he can out turn the exo
Why does everyone think Exos are unstoppable? They're really not.
they're not unstoppable on their own, but they can very easily and quickly close off a complete corridor or even a big room if they have 1 dude with a welder
Been playing a little and I don't really understand much but it's fun as hell to play. Kinda makes me wish I had given it more of a chance in the beta.
