Jesus christ. We just pulled off a serious endurance match.
First time as alien comm... still learning things...
ohcrap lost a hive, down to one.
rebuilt it
lost the other one
rebuilt it
and again.
And this went on... for an hour. Until the humans had like 4 AFK and then 3 aliens charged into their main and wrecked house, and then into pipeline, and then somehow we won...
Someone was like "So this is how you win matches? Drag it out til people get bored?"
'Dude I want this match to end as much as you do, this is my first time commanding'
Come for the NS2, stay for the Hugh.

Those gorges...
Uhm, how is it important to keep a cyst connection to a new base? You don't need infestation to build a hive and the hive spreads infestation too.
It's better than no connection, but it's not like your base will die if the connection is lost, or do I not know something?
True, but if I had the connection in that particular scenario it would mean 3 additional harvesters would be going up as well. Desperate situation mind you, as we were down to our last hive at the point I took over.
Just played a full 15 minute game as Alien commander with a team that used voice chat constantly, it was fantastic. Very satisfying to have infestation all over the map and pouring into the last marine base before the Onos destroyed everything.
Playing commander for the first time was incredibly stressful because I didn't know if what I was doing was good or bad so I just played it like I was playing starcraft and used my mic to make sure everyone knew what I was doing and what I saw the enemy doing.
In the end we slaughtered the enemy and I was told I did a great job, even if it took me 10 minutes to find out how to research phase tech :v:
Next stop, alien commander!
I wouldn't mind having a version of NS2 where it's commander only commanding AI controlled units.

Starcraft

It would be a nice tutorial.
It surprises me how often people don't even think of the noise they create, the skulk's walking sound is hilariously loud and it helps me pinpoint skulks who thought they were trying to be sneaky.
I've been called a hacker many times because I'd track their loud as fuck walking sound to their hiding place.

Dude a friend and I were moving forward early game and we killed one, and in the silence... we could hear them in the vents.
It was creepy as fuuuuck.
Actually it is pretty creepy. When NS2_veil was released, I was holding down Nanogrid (double)
with two other guys with the power node almost dead, and the constant attacks from the skulks
stopped, and then we started hearing feint running that was constantly getting louder and louder until I turned around and realized there was two vent openings on the ceiling, then they poured through and we died.
Scared the shit out of me.
Why do you type
like that it's really frustrating

They're comin' outta the walls! They're comin' outta the god damn walls!
Just got off of a great match where the Alien team charged into marine base with 6 Onos, pretty cool.
NS2 might be the only game in which teamplay is so enforced by mechanics, its allready my favorite game of the year.
Hugh is so awesome and down-to-Earth. I barely ever watch clips online of Q&A that are longer than 20 minutes, but I've spent all day watching his 2 hour stream. Fucking great guy.
Can't wait to play NS2!
Okay so, I've found a way to replace sounds with my own sounds.
What sound should I make this replace

"Command station under attack!"

Doing that as we speak
If someone makes a full pulse rifle mod for the assault rifle, with the model and everything. It would be great.

Extra tool that replaces either the pistol or the axe with a motion sensor...
Or actually, a full fledged Aliens mod. They both have similar art styles, and the skulk had very similar controls. It could be done.
Well the game runs like a jetski on gravel for me but it is loads of fun. I remember in NS1 I could never get the hang of Aliens, but now I can do both sides and they're both equally fun. Lerk is definitely my favorite. I'd try fade but my FPS is low enough that I don't think I could blink properly.
Fuck the default talk button being alt, pressed TAB to check the scores to report something to the comm, game ended up alt tabbing and crashing while I was sitting on 94 resource
Oh god I have to get my hands on those exosuit sound files, anyone know how to extract them to a usable format?

Because I was on
A laptop
And It kept skipping
And I didn't feel like
Fixing it.
Oh god I have to get my hands on those exosuit sound files, anyone know how to extract them to a usable format?
I use a program called FSBextractor, seems to work for most of the sounds
Bleh, of course my first time as marine commander was the first time there were no helpful people around.
I managed to learn how to build fairly quickly, did several Extractors, built armory etc. Then it started going to hell when people started going
"Dude, build phasegates"
"How?"
"Dude, phasegates"
"Duuuude"
"Why don't we have exos researched?"
"Why do we have only 1 comm center?"
"Dude"
"Dude, armories"
"gg dude"
I got really confused and we lost quite heavily. :v:
I think the pressure of being a commander would be too much for me. I'm much better as a pawn :v:
How demanding is this game? I heard it was pretty poorly optimized during the alpha and betas, and am wondering how much it has improved...

It has improved immensely.
I want a Nostromo map
