If someone doesn't eventually make a mod similar to Hidden: Source, I'll be upset
For maps I want Hera and Tanith.
It has improved immensely.
When you exceed the "recommended" specs and still get ~25 fps I fear what it used to be like..
Yeah this game has shitty optimisation now; a few months back it was absolutely unplayable for me.
If servers could list in shorthand what mods they use, that would be great in the server browser (similar to Valve's system) I believe this has been suggested before?
Goddamnit, I can't play the game anymore because whenever I try to connect to a server it says "Connection failed" or some shit.
If someone doesn't eventually make a mod similar to Hidden: Source, I'll be upset
it'll work well with the fade
Being a marine commander where no one follows orders, I tell two teams of three to go in separate directions but they follow each other, base gets attacked = distress beacon. Same thing is about to happen again and then the game locks up. Explore mode is okay, but it doesn't give a close enough representation of what actual commanding is like in a game.
it'll work well with the fade
Turn off respawning, turn off hives/controllers. Spawn a fade or whatever on the alien team, everyone else is marines. Make power sockets destroyed much easier, but just as hard to repair, maybe have lights turn off much longer before emergency, if at all. Make the fade/whatever (I would think a skulk may be best, could possibly put the fade's powers in it.) invisible or semi invisible. Skulk insta-kills or close to it (maybe two hits, parasite may disorientate enemy or so). To win wipe out the other team, simple. Maybe at the start all lights could be off (no red lights), and they marines have to move by flashlight, much scarier. The hidden may be even more visible, if invisible at all in this case.
How is the optimization? I'm sure it won't lag on my 580 but my friend has a really old pc
How is the optimization? I'm sure it won't lag on my 580 but my friend has a really old pc
Not that good compared to other games of equal graphical fidelity, but not extremely awful either. If it's really old it's unlikely it will run well.
How is the optimization? I'm sure it won't lag on my 580 but my friend has a really old pc
Kinda shitty tbh, I have to play at bare minimum unless I want to stutter every few seconds - and this is on a rig that'll max out pretty much everything else. Also windowed-fullscreen runs better than fullscreen, which is good because you're gonna love the ability to tab out during the initial load times.
Yeah you need a super computer to run it on good graphics and a high end PC to even run it on low
Dunno what you're talking about because I run it on high and my computer is 2 years old and my friend who cant even run TF2 on high can run this game flawlessly on low
Dunno what you're talking about because I run it on high and my computer is 2 years old and my friend who cant even run TF2 on high can run this game flawlessly on low
Myself and a lot of other people have abysmal performance. I can run battlefield 3 at about 40fps on high yet my game actually looks worse than the Halflife 1 mod and is only just really playable.
All the performance issues I read are putting me off from buying. My PC isn't bad but when you see people with better specs unable to play it properly it doesn't help at all.
Dunno what you're talking about because I run it on high and my computer is 2 years old and my friend who cant even run TF2 on high can run this game flawlessly on low
Some of us like playing above 20FPS.
The performance issues doesn't seem to be consistent, I've got a 2-3 years old PC now with only an upgraded graphic card (GTS 450) and I run the game with everything at highest and the game runs incredibly smooth. On the other hand, the server browser runs slow as fuck for me for some reason.
I'm running on high at native res with occlusion off, 44-60 average fps and drops to 30/35 in intense fights. Hugh said on a livestream q&a yesterday that its the particle effects that need tweaking. Also gotta love your game crashing while commanding :suicide:
Myself and a lot of other people have abysmal performance. Saying that you need the best PC ever to run this game when in reality I cant actually RUN bf3 yet I can play this on high without the FPS going below 40 Its more of a gamble if it'll run right rather than "u need the best pc ever because i cant run it"
Myself and a lot of other people have abysmal performance. Lowering graphics settings wont help at all if you're bottlenecked by your cpu in this case.
Yeah you need a super computer to run it on good graphics and a high end PC to even run it on low
idk about you because I run it on high everything but without AO and AA and it runs pretty much flawlessly and this pos can't crysis 2 without melting or bf3 at mid [editline]5th November 2012[/editline] yeah I think there are still issues with some computer builds but they'll probably fix those soon
I never seem to be able to hit anything with the gorges spit. The projectile is delayed and slow
I would like to have more of those dev QAs, especially with that guy but with actual developer support on questions. [editline]5th November 2012[/editline] I may eventually have to make my own mod tools, this is getting ridiculous. [editline]5th November 2012[/editline] I'm getting authentication failed when I try and do explore mode, weird.
Yeah, they really need to make explore mode available in offline mode. (One reason being I want to show it to my friends at school, and they blocked basically every port except 80 and 21 etc)
bought, hoping don't have performance issues stated and if I do, hope they're competent enough to get it sorted before people lose hope or interest. Really enjoyed the original mod for HL. and yep. one of those who get shitty unplayable performance no matter what settings.
For maps I want Hera and Tanith.
Both are getting remade
Uhm, how is it important to keep a cyst connection to a new base? You don't need infestation to build a hive and the hive spreads infestation too. It's better than no connection, but it's not like your base will die if the connection is lost, or do I not know something?
your base will die without cysts im pretty sure. [editline]5th November 2012[/editline]
It surprises me how often people don't even think of the noise they create, the skulk's walking sound is hilariously loud and it helps me pinpoint skulks who thought they were trying to be sneaky. I've been called a hacker many times because I'd track their loud as fuck walking sound to their hiding place.
yeah, as skulk people need to remember to use shift to move without being heard when marines are near
hives won't die without infestation, harvesters, whips etc will. hives make their own infestation, thats why you don't need a chain to make a new one
