I think almost all of the alien structures being useless against any team that isn't dumb it the reason for some of the changes. Usually faster to go to a hive than sit in a pile of crags to heal and whips are just laughably bad.

A lot of people don't realize that simply shooting infestation with a flamethrower kills the cyst that is creating the infestation, while also hitting every other building in the area revealing everything. Besides the observatory, the flamethrower is one of the best counters to anything invisible.

If you're able to afford such things like that then the game is already in your favour and probably already won.
And then a flamethrower makes all defenses useless. Found a neat ns2 community on the rise. http://ns2hub.com/
Gamespot pulled their 6/10 review and had another author review it: http://www.gamespot.com/natural-selection-2/reviews/natural-selection-2-review-6399998/ (on phone, mobile link). Overall a good review that I agree with. However, looks like metacritic only accepts the first review of a game from one site so they won't be updating the score.
we're having an open tournament on saturday. http://www.reddit.com/r/ns2pugs/comments/1340jw/reddit_6v6_tournament_this_weekend/
Would love to play, but I am from germany. Hope they can get a timezone somewhere between.
I'd like to play, but it depends on the timezones. I live in CEST

Anyway what did he originally say the problems were with it? They're probably the standard complaints you always get on official forums like the game being hugely unbalanced when the problem is the guy sucks.

Won my first round as Alien Commander. Team was so helpful and we kicked ass. Surprising how much you learn from just 1 round. I now feel confident enough to hop in Alien Comm without first asking permission.
I fucking love it when there's funny microphone guys in this game. I mean, this is definitely a Role-playing game like WoW or some shit, so it's fucking awesome to go about your team business while one of them uses his microphone to create IMMERSION while we fight!

Less than 5 minutes into the round, I got told to fuck off and let someone else go. They banned me from the server immediately afterwards :v:

Hey guys. So I'm thinking about throwing 25 bucks at this game on steam. It looks to be a pretty unique FPS just by looking at the page. I was wondering if you guys could tell me a few things that might help me get off the fence? I'm coming off the Planetside 2 Beta and going to wait until it's release. I'm a bit disappointed in PS2 though, being a long time player of the original I found it to be really shallow. Is there any depth to this game? I'm really just looking for something fresh that isn't just all about kills and scores. Thanks!

As a marine try to listen to your commander as much as you can, use the voice chat to inform everyone about nearby dangers or to ask the commander for orders (you can do that too by holding X and choosing from the radial menu). Never go alone unless your commander told you to, in which case he may use you as a scout unit, don't get too pissed when you die in that case. When you die you drop your weapon (only if it was a bought weapon such as shotguns and such, you always spawn with your vanilla gear), if you get where you died quickly enough you can get it back, it's likely that a teammate will get it though. You got a flashlight, press F to use it. As an alien never run straight at the marines from the ground, try to jump left and right and climb onto walls and ceilings to disorientate and attack them. Always remember to check if you have any upgrades by using the evolution menu (B button), select the upgrades you want and press the evolve button. You can use that menu to also evolve into a different lifeform, assuming you got the resources for it. You got a heat vision, press F to use it, marines and structures will appear red and with an outline. This is the most important stuff I learned from my humble playtime, altough the game has a steep learning curve it's very fun to play, you should definitely get it.

I hope I can give the game justice. I've been writing up an outline about nearly everything on it, but some of the stuff I specifically marked as "I DON'T FUCKING KNOW ENOUGH. PLAY MORE." :v:

Then next round, I yelled "Lead us to victory, chief!" and then he jumped in the chair and I was freaking out for a sec cause I thought he was gonna bullshit it and we'd lose, but then he commanded like a boss and we just about won.
French servers are the worst
I ran my own server for testing shit. On minimum settings I get around 25-30 fps when there's nothing going on, does it become alot worse that that when there's action going on? I was also thinking about learning to mostly play Commander, it seems like fun.

So is there a Facepunch NS2 steam group? I would love to play together sometimes.
Playing around with settings more. High infestation lowers my fps 20-30 compared to low. Performance seems to be the same no matter if the game just started or aliens own 3/4 of the map.

All other maps are always laggy.
Is it me or does the map "Veil" appears to never have lag no matter what is going on? All other maps are always laggy.
Not sure. Docking for me seems to run the best and refinery?(whichever has lavafalls?) runs the worst.
My internet get fked up when i try to refresh the server list, it happend time by time, did that happend to anyone else?
yeah always happens most of time have to close the game and try again
Ugh. So tired to always loose as an alien comm to the marine side mindlessly spamming exo suits and rush the hives and fuck-all you can do about 5 exos rushing a hive. When you mention the exo spam, I get replied with "Exo spam? Are you a fucking retard?"
(While you are here, if you know anything about my problem, (Pageking on this page) I would like a simple yes/no answer to it) On topic: How much resources does one resource-tower produce in a second/minute. I would like to get into the numbers in this game before I start it.
Well if you can run the game then I'd say keep the card. I'm on a old radeon 4980 (granted it was a supercard a few years back, but I think the 5670 should perform as well, you should look up some benchmarks).
