lerks are amazing on anything 16 players or less. Just don't attempt to bite anyone that can aim when they have a shotgun.
What I hate the most is that since hitboxes seem to be clientside, I can get hit once or twice, then fly out of there at mach 3, be around a corner and down the hall, yet still be getting hit by the people that were shooting at me.
Its true, As Lerk and Skulk I've been round a corner in my screen and still taking damage from shots being fired at me, hitboxes are shit, on low ping servers and my own ping being low too
Its true, As Lerk and Skulk I've been round a corner in my screen and still taking damage from shots being fired at me, hitboxes are shit, on low ping servers and my own ping being low too
That's the lag compensation, not the hitboxes, same happens in any game using that feature when the attacker has a higher ping than the victim, or viceversa.
Depends on what lifeform you are. Also, I think there should be an upgrade that buffs your damage (as alien). Maybe a fourth hive type for offense? [editline]17th November 2012[/editline] Just spitting ideas out here
NS1 had Focus (shade hive) which would lower your attack speed and increase damage done. Very useful, especially for fades late game.
That's the lag compensation, not the hitboxes, same happens in any game using that feature when the attacker has a higher ping than the victim, or viceversa.
Its not even a feature, its more of a punishment for people with good internet

I fucking love playing Lerk. I don't have too much trouble dying, because he can just fly so fast and making so sharp turns that Marines just get confused. [editline]17th November 2012[/editline] And when things are not going as they should, you can always find a higher up place and play sniper :v:
It feels like shotguns have absolutely no spread at all. They should increase the spread so you actually have to switch to your pistol on long range targets
It feels like shotguns have absolutely no spread at all. They should increase the spread so you actually have to switch to your pistol on long range targets
The damage is reduced over range.
It feels like shotguns have absolutely no spread at all. They should increase the spread so you actually have to switch to your pistol on long range targets
In my experience Shotguns get completly useless after like 10 meters and their insta kill range is like 4.
Holding transit on Refinery is pretty much impossible if you're playing as marine. The long run from Flow Control or going through the "U-turn" from Smelting takes enough time that a skult can take out the extractor there. [editline]17th November 2012[/editline] Also using nanoshield on exos makes them last a lot longer against onos.
It feels like shotguns have absolutely no spread at all. They should increase the spread so you actually have to switch to your pistol on long range targets
Are we using the same weapon. It has high spread and it's like a cone for a barrel.
Since they buffed regeneration, I'd have to disagree. Right now, the regeneration kicks in after about 1 second and you get a lot of health. It's not that hard to dodge a few bullets and as soon as you do, you're already regaining health. Although, if they're running shotguns and have a lot of them, I'd be getting Carapace. I will however agree with running Adrenaline depending on your playstyle, that's very true. Celerity does just happen to be what I do best with personally. Hell, since they buffed regeneration through the roof, it's even amazing on Onos, more than amazing. I mean Christ, you start regenerating health after around 1 - 1.5 seconds instead of the old 5 seconds. Also, Carapace only adds 25 more armour, that's around 50 more damage, without weapon upgrades that's 5 shots with an assault rifle. At level 3 weapons, that's about 2 - 3 shots, even less if they use their pistol.
the over-buffing of regen was a mistake and they're going to be fixing that soon. also carapace is absolutely necessary for lerks and fades otherwise you're dead.
Marines rushed with exos when we were just about to get the second hive (concentrated on harvesters first) They lost :D [t]http://puu.sh/1rhs1[/t] [editline]17th November 2012[/editline] Lesson: Don't rush exos. [editline]17th November 2012[/editline] [t]http://puu.sh/1rihr[/t] Oni are fine tho.
its funny when you're trying to defend vs an all exo team and all you got is skulks and 1 somehow manages to go around the map and destroys the power everywhere and kill the commander.gg
It's always fun to join a rookie-friendly server and get obliterated because every other person on the other fucking team knows the game inside-out and backwards so they get onos at 10 minutes while you're stuck with an idiot commander who doesn't know how to play the game and you can't learn how to play the fucking game because rookie-friendly doesn't mean rookie-friendly.
http://www.twitch.tv/vindalo0 reddit 6v6 tournament is about to start in 15 minutes.
Silly exo [t]http://puu.sh/1rkND[/t]
I hope a patch comes out soon because onos + regeneration is overpowered.
the over-buffing of regen was a mistake and they're going to be fixing that soon. also carapace is absolutely necessary for lerks and fades otherwise you're dead.
Yeah, I'm aware of the over-buffing that's why I'm using it on everything right now, it's amazing. I personally have never needed carapace on Lerk or Fade unless they happen to have shotguns on everyone. Especially Fade. If they're just running rifles, you can easily blink in, wipe one out and blink out. If you happen to miss a few swings or they happen to hit every bullet just blink out early. You shouldn't be fighting groups of marines as a Fade anyway. [editline]18th November 2012[/editline]
I hope a patch comes out soon because onos + regeneration is overpowered.
I'm surprised they haven't fixed it with a small quick-fix.
Regen pre path was bad though. For smaller lifeforms thr current percentage based formula is spot on. All they have to do is cap it at a lower value for higher life forms and it's balanced. Reverting it back to 228 would be a mistake
the problem with regen in 229 is that it procs too fast. it needs to be at least 3-4 seconds, not 1.5.
Just plaid a game with Hugh (aka. Strayan/NS2HD) and he's such a great comm. Very social, nice, and great plans. But unfortanetly the aliens won the game though. Still, great fun.

Damn, camouflage is fucking awesome early on.
So we needed a commander this one round , I'm like OK i can command I've done it before. Keep in mind the last time i actually commanded a game was way back in early beta where rockdown was still the most played map and you started with macs. I had absolutely no idea what i was doing since the interface changed and we got skulk rushed because i forgot to build an observatory to beacon. Best commander 2012.
I don't get why people don't use it more. It's literally a free kill if you use it correctly.
Yeah, at first I thought it'd we a bit like "Predator invisibility", that you shimmer a bit, but it seems you are completely invisible. I uncovered myself when I was a camo-onos 1 meter from some marines. My god it was hilarious, the panicked their armor off.
I don't get why people don't use it more. It's literally a free kill if you use it correctly.
it's fucking hysterical as an onos in combat gamemode.
I coordinated with a friend onos a while back so this lone marine wandered into me as a cloaked onos, turned to run and ran into my friend :v:
Played as alien comm earlier, was doing okay for the most part, marines had 3 base we had 2 hive, we then pushed and took the third. Marines countered and hit our hive, three onos died in one battle due to too much aggression. See the map has little movement so I hit tab and oh my Christ, I could have dropped more onos eggs if they'd ask!
